This elegant hotel sits very well located along the ring and a short 10 minute walk to the Albertina or 15 minutes to the Opera House. It has very large rooms facing the Ring (2 beds, a desk area, a lounging area, enough space to store 3 suitcases and still enough open floor space to do morning exercises). Ask for...

Right in a perfect location. 10 mins walk to everything. Well appointed rooms, helpful staff and a full ginger bread house in the lobby (wife loved that... had to hold her back from taking a bite!). Ask any questions about food and attractions, they know them all.

Spacious, well laid out and nicely furnished and in a convenient location (beside U Bahn and a short walk to good choice of restaurants. Good breakfast, good wi-fi; well priced and no surprise to see it well patronised, Only quibble was a lack of ventilation in the room - there was an A/C unit on the wall but it didn't...

The hotel is truly a 5 star hotel. Nice solid breakfast and very good service. The position of the hotel is also very good as one can reach the city centre in 10 - 15 min on foot and near the hotel there is the metro/tram/bus station. The only downside is that the double beds have 2 small mattresses instead...

This hotel was a surprise and don't let the photos of the decor on the websites put you off. Although this is a big hotel it is very quiet, clean and comfortable! The staff were really friendly and helpful. We were given complimentary Vienna Card valid for 3 days for free travel on metro, trams etc. and included discounts to...

We spent 4 nights at the Hotel de France, which is a largish modern hotel making good use of an old building. It is superbly situated on the Ringstrasse, close to the University and within easy walking distance of the edge of the old town. We felt there could not have found a better location Access to transport is marvellous....

We stayed at Hotel de France during our 3-day trip to Vienna to celebrate my birthday. Not only did the kind receptionist immediately notice my birthday, but she also gave us an upgrade to a beautiful suite and had a nice birthday cake put in the room for me. Besides this kind gestures, the hotel is also very well located,...

Hotel de France is on the less crowded part of the Vienna Ringstrasse near the Rathaus / Townhall. Attractions are on walking distance or can easily be visited by tramway or underground. The hotel itself has some of the typical Vienna grandeur. Breakfast is very good. Rooms are stylish.

Staying in Serviten Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
Serviten Quarter
The Serviten Quarter is an inner city neighbourhood with many private charms. Popular with French and American expats, Sigmund Freud’s neighbourhood boasts his former practice and apartments, now turned into a museum. Stunning Liechtenstein Garden Palace houses the private art collection of Prince Adam of Liechtenstein. Romantic Strudlhofstiege close to the palace is a fantastic photo spot. With their small independent shops and eateries, the main streets of Liechtensteinstrasse, Porzellangasse and Servitengasse reveal much of this area’s character. Peek into baroque Serviten Church, with its richly decorated dome and walls. At the Old Jewish cemetery in Seegasse you can see one of the most precious cemeteries in Europe with tombstones almost 500 years old.
