Just returned from a trip to Vienna and I'm so pleased I choose the Hotel de France. The hotel is perfect for the Christmas market - 5 minutes walk and less than 10 minutes to the main shopping streets. The hotel reception and bar area are stunning with beautiful chandeliers it's just so well laid out it looks so luxurious... More

Spent 3 days here, superb room with changing area and large modern bathroom. Great location..5 minutes walk to the Rathaus Xmas market. Town and most sights within walking distance. Tube, tram and airport bus close by. Staff all helpful, great breakfasts..at £90 per night good value.

You'll be wowed by the marble floored reception and the sitting rooms adjacent to reception and breakfast bar. However when you get to the rooms, while spacious they do not live up to the reception. Mine was a corner plot on the 5th floor believe me it was spotless, it was comfortable and above all it was quiet but it... More

We have chosen the hotel based on reviews (people said that they served a salmon and sparkling vine for breakfast). I am disappointed because our room is shabby and already at 7:45 there are a lot of people in breakfast room and there is NO salmon!!! There is a strange smell in the room which has a view onto the... More

The room was quite old but anyway clean and big enough. Cleaner was beautiful and very kindful ***** for her. Breakfast and other restaurants is ok and good served. Location of hotels is ok if you are ready to walk.

This hotel is in a very good and pretty central location. My friend and I thought it was a very decent hotel although the room we were allocated on arrival did not have an en suite bathroom, so we asked for a different room. The receptionist promptly found an available one on the first floor which did have an en... More

Ideal location for short stay in Vienna. Rooms spacious, wifi excellent, and a really good buffet breakfast. Hotel is 50 meters from Schottentor station from where there are easy 1 train connections to Schonbrunn or Belvedere. You are only a few minutes walk from Stephansplatz or Rathaus. Pay 40 euros for a cab from the airport if you must but... More

Staying in Serviten Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
Serviten Quarter
The Serviten Quarter is an inner city neighbourhood with many private charms. Popular with French and American expats, Sigmund Freud’s neighbourhood boasts his former practice and apartments, now turned into a museum. Stunning Liechtenstein Garden Palace houses the private art collection of Prince Adam of Liechtenstein. Romantic Strudlhofstiege close to the palace is a fantastic photo spot. With their small independent shops and eateries, the main streets of Liechtensteinstrasse, Porzellangasse and Servitengasse reveal much of this area’s character. Peek into baroque Serviten Church, with its richly decorated dome and walls. At the Old Jewish cemetery in Seegasse you can see one of the most precious cemeteries in Europe with tombstones almost 500 years old.
