This hotel was a little difficult to find, the street signs are not easily displayed in Vienna, but when discovered this hotel was a fabulous location. Right inside the inner circle, 1 minute walk from Stephenplaz, 2 min walk to all the sights, restaurants etc. Mostly a pedestrian area. We were a little concerned with all the clubs nearby, but...

I, too, followed Rick Steves' advice in booking this hotel for 3 nights at the end of November 2007. All I can say is that Rick needs to fire whomever reviewed this place. The location is great (just off the main square and close to the metro), and the lobby is deceptively nice, but that's where the good ends. I...

I thought I'd better write a review as we stayed in this hotel based on your reviews! Well, we were expecting a small bathroom from previous reviews - it was small but not as small as I expected - it was just fine. It had a good strong shower. The room was a fair size and tidied / cleaned every...

My wife and I went off of Rick Steves guidelines, he has never failed us before......we have to say the hotel was a major disappointment. Maybe it was because we stayed in Salzburg prior to coming to Vienna where we had a nice room. The room itself needed some upgrades and the bathroom, oh my, I read someone else saying...

My second time at Schweizerhof was as good as the first time i was there last March 2007. The hotel is very centrally located, just one minute far from the Dome and Hofburg. The service is good, breakfast is very good and rooms are confortable. Note that bathrooms are very very small and rooms are not soundproofed. Overall an excellent...

I stayed at Hotel Schweizerhof from October 29-November 1, 2007. The hotel is well-located in the Old City -- just a block away from shopping on Kartnerstrasse and close to Stephansdom and other major attractions and sites. It even boasts proximity to the kitschy Der Anker Clock, Vienna's own (much less impressive) version of Prague's Astronomical Clock. My room was...

I went to Vienna for a work related conference - sponsored by the Apple Computer office there and found they really know how to treat educators. I had to find hotel and was very pleased when I arrived at the Hotel Schweizerhof. Located near the Schwedenplatz U Bahn and Stephansplatz made it very accessible with luggage from the airport and...

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in September. We arrived late in the evening and were only going to have one full day in Vienna. The gentleman that checked us in (wish I knew his name) could not have been more helpful. He suggested an itinerary for us and made arrangements for us. He then gave us directions...

We stayed at the hotel for one night. The staff was helpful and the rooms were clean. The only negative we had about the hotel was the size of the bathroom. Very small and hard to move around in (especially when your 6'2"). The breakfast was great. The hotel is within a 5 minute walk to the domo and about...

I booked this hotel through [--] for myself (currently living in Slovakia) and a friend (visiting from Montana). I requested a double but got a room with 3 beds. The room had a beautiful crystal chandelier. I do have to agree with others who have stated that the bathrooms are quite small and difficult to maneuver in. That would be...

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
