Stayed here for the second time after a 6 year break. We had our own apartment with all facilities. The hostel is located in a quiet area, close to trains, trams, supermarkets and shopping and we could walk into the city of Vienna in 20 minutes walking along one of the main shopping streets. Franz again was our host and...

I have spent 5 nights in Happy Hostel in Vienna, we had „ double bed private ensuite“ - own kitchen and own bathroom+WC“. Very good location, really quiet place, free internet access. :) Really small bathroom, narrow double bed, old furniture... :( Well, I did not expect luxury for this price in Vienna, but what I always ecxpect is cleanliness....

This hostel is good value for money - 3 friends and I were booked to stay in a 6-bed mixed dorm but in fact got a 4-bed room, which shared a private apartment with a similar room. The apartment was spacious, with a a kitchen (which was not very well equipped, bring your own cutlery/bowls - there may not be...

We rented an apartment for three nights at the Happy Hostel. It was not very good in comparison to other hostels I've been to. Happy Hostel is located near the Westbarnhof (train station) and is about a half hour walk to the city center. It's close to Vienna's main shopping street. There are several nearby subway stops, which were easy...

Happy Hostel was in a good location just off the main shopping strip. Its about a 15 minute walk into the city centre but its a nice walk past all the shops and people. The Hostel was clean and the land lady very friendly. The staff spoke very good english and were helpful. The rooms are large and very clean....

The hostel is very near to the main train station, Wien Westbahnhof. We arrived to the hostel by the side entrance, not the main one, but the lady at the reception was very friendly and helpful and took us the reception by the main entrance. After filling out the necessary paper work, she escorted us to our room. The rooms...

We got a private double room which had a shared bathroom and kitchen with one other room however as that was empty we had those facilities to ourself. The room had a TV which is often rare in hostels. The staff were all really friendly. It is situated nearby the Westbanhof station which is on tram and underground routes. It...

Do not stay in the 6 bed apartment. It was truly the most awful hostel we have ever stayed in. When we arrived the room was clearly a dorm meant for upwards of 10 people and not an apartment. There were 8 beds spread between 2 rooms, one with a mattress which doubled-up as a disgusting sofa, with another mattress...

Good Points * Great location, 10 min walk from Westbanhof. Not far from Sudbahof either, a short tram ride. Next to the shopping strip. * Friendly staff * Free internet in the lobby - 2 computers * Rooms are dated but clean and very spacious. We booked a private room and it had a kitchen also. Great value. * Loads...

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariahilf
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
