The apartment that we booked was not as nice as per pictures shown in website. Some of the furniture is old. The dining table can't be used. The floor is the worst..it making noise every time we walk. Maybe the floor base is old too. We have to tip toed if walking while kids are sleeping. Not satisfied with the...

I really enjoyed my stay at Josefstadt Appartments this week. My apartment was very spacious and the bed comfortable (TV could be bigger). Excellent kitchen and good size dining and sitting areas. The entrance area and entry doors could be less spartan, but that is so obvious a point that there must be a good reason for the fact that...

I stayed here for more than a week. The best thing about this apartment is its location: It's right next to a tram stop and business like grocery store (e.g. Billa) the post office, banks, bakeries and restaurants. You can also walk to the city center in 10 minutes. The only small things I can complain is that the WIFI...

This place was amazing. When arriving we were a little worried about what we had got ourselves into, its a apartment block have to get buzzed in and a code to get the key - the area you come into doesnt look that great almost like a service entrance but when you get into the apartment its amazing. Large bedroom...

I stayed here for one night at start of a conference. Negatives- the location was pretty difficult to find. I neede to get directions off multiple people before finding it as it wasn't very well sign posted. Positives- huge apartment, large bathroom, nice small clean kitchenette. The bed was very comfortable. The room was really warm when I arrived out...

The location of this property is perfect. It has great eating across the road at the University, access to trams, buses, underground, etc which made our stay easy for getting around. The city centre is not far to walk however you can catch a tram if you want. WIFI worked well, the apartment was very good and we found it...

Let's start with the location: it's perfect. Just across the University of Vienna campus (convenient, if you have some business to do over there). There are 4 tram stops that can take you to either Shottentor or Alsser Strasse U-bahn stations in no time - the first one is also a good point for starting exploring the historic centre. There...

Stayed in hotel 2 families for a night. Before going into the many negatives of the place, a positive bonus was that they let us keep 2 rooms for a late checkout, saying "we do not need them". As good as it sounds it has a meaning in a city hotel in August. The negatives: We reserved 2 four bed...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.

“Most of the rooms are with windows on Kochgasse or AlsserStrasse, which may be quite noisy. The 208 room (and 1 or 2 more) have windows on the small courtyard and are superquiet, though the view is not that nice.”
