We stayed for 2 nights. Check in was very relaxed and easy and the lovely owner George surprised us with a complimentary drink of our choice from the beach bar.
Our room was spacious and clean, well equipped with all the basics. The balcony view, although a little obscured by palm trees (!) did afford glimpses of the sea.
On site sun loungers and umbrellas are free (a few steps to the Sandy, swimmable beach), those on the beach immediately in front of the property have to be paid for.
Food was amazing!! Included buffet style breakfast consisted of fresh fruits, pastries, hot drinks, juices, cold meats, cheeses, bacon, eggs etc. Our evening meals were large portions of home cooked loveliness - served with unexpected moon rise view.
This friendly, family run hotel also caters for corporate events - there are several function rooms available, a couple of which we saw were being used but didn’t interrupt the overall cosy relaxed atmosphere.
A minor niggle was that complimentary coffee etc & clean towels weren’t replenished on day two, otherwise I’d have given 5 stars.

Booked to stay based on a recommendation. However, different people have different standards. The good, the bad and the ugly opinion follows.
In spite of negative reviews seen before arriving here is what I think.
Good First.
The food is excellent and you will be hard pressed to find better in the region and the prices are fair. Service is excellent and the staff are all very friendly and nothing is to much trouble.
The rooms have been updated but they are not 5 Star but if you overlook the bits which are not pristine it does represent great value as a place to stay.
This is a very popular eating place for locals especially at weekends and they also swim here as it has one of the best beaches nearby.
You will need a car as this place is somewhat isolated so you can venture out and eat in nearby towns such as Zygi - Try Santa Elena behind Captains Table (15 minutes by car) or Lisa's Bistro, at Grand Resort & St Raphael just outside Limassol (5-10 minutes if using A1 Motorway)
We stayed outside main season so the beach was not overcrowded and on some weekdays we almost had the whole place to ourselves.
The water is warm enough to swim in all year round and not at all deep you would have to go out a very long way before you cannot stand.
The loungers are free and mainly on the hotels own lawn which leads directly on to the beach.
A selection of taverns are adjacent but frankly as the food is good why go elsewhere unless you want a change of location.
Remember what it costs to stay and call the overall shabby chic and just enjoy the place.
The Bad
Well the beach is not the usual golden coloured sand and is more of a muddy colour. Flies are a nuisance.
The Ugly
The views of the Power Station may not be to everybody's liking.

We visited the restaurant here for lunch. Although the car park area isn't particularly nice do not be put off. We went through the hotel area and into the restaurant garden area and were promptly served. The menu is fairly large with a large choice of traditional dishes. We all very much enjoyed our food and the portions were really large making it real value. The tables look out onto the beach which makes the experience more pleasant.
It is a must visit restaurant, I don't know about the hotel as we did not stay.

We ordered and ended up waiting nearly an hour and a half for our food(salad and dips...). After an hour and a half they told us many items we ordered were 'out of stock' some of which they still kept on the bill and tried to charge us. They the salad arrive it had no dressing and wasn't worth the wait....

The location of these appartments are good! You are 10 minutes from limassol city by car( so you need a car to go to limassol) . The beach its good , but the water its fairly cold, compared to other beach.
As far as the appartments, the place its not clean. If you go the yard for coffee in the morning you will find food on the table, and on the floor from the previous night! The rooms are not clean, and you can not go there with kids! its understuff, and maybe this is one of the reason that its in this mess! The price its too high for this place!
Best thing to do is to search for another place with this money!
I wont stay here again for sure!!

Stayed there for a family wedding. The wedding was badly planned as the cocktail was not ready on time. The rooms and hallways were dirty while tha air conditioning would freeze the room whatever the settings. The baby cot we got was really dirty. Also the owner was very rude. He came to open the champagne for the newlywed couple wearing an old t-shirt and sunglasses. OMG!

We were staying in Protaras, and our friends were staying in Limassol so we decided to meet them at Governors Beach for a day. I found this hotel via the internet and was surprised to see the rooms were only £15 cy per person bed and breakfast, so we decided to stay overnight. I am very glad we did!
The room was fabulous, just renovated with everything you could want including fridge, kettle, satellite TV etc and the most beautiful view over the quiet beach and sea. Governors Beach is just a little way out of Limassol, but you could be in a different world - Limassol is big and noisy, with no charm, but Governors Beach is an oasis of peace.
The food at this hotel is FANTASTIC and the portions are huge. the breakfast was amazing, eaten in the outdoor dining area overlooking the sea.
I would like to keep it a secret, but felt they deserved a good review! Hope to return in 2007.

Great (and cheap!) beachside hotel, large rooms with sea view (just) balconies.
Huge lawn with trees and lots of umbrella leading down to a long and narrow public beach.
The food was just fantastic, and there are a row of at least 6-8 resturants along the beach. The hotel is fairly isolated from any villages, towns shops etc and a car is a must, unless you're just going to lie in the sun.
Be aware tho that the 'public' can use the lawn and facilities of the hotel and on weeknds and public holiday it is mental, additionally as it was the last couple of days of school term we had at least 50 school kids appear in the hotel function suite.
All in all it was a great break.

What a great place, right on the beach, with fantastic views. We had spent a few hours on the beach first, then decided to stay for lunch. Really friendly staff and atmosphere. Great choice of Greek food, which I love. We all seemed to choose a different meal, no one had any complaints, I went for the pork kebabs, large portions, really tasty. Definitely recommended. We'll worth the drive.
