I looked for not very expensive hotels in Luxembourg capital, and based on internet-info, hotel-restaurant "Italia" seemed to be a good choice. And it has appeared to meet my expectations. Of course, those that are looking for luxurous accomodation or are spoilt with everything excellent , should not stay there. But , being a budget traveller, I appreciate service, attitude,...

This hotel was lovely! We stayed as part of a trip organised by my Law School to visit the city and I was very impressed. I have high standards when it comes to hotels and was a little apprehensive however despite the hotel being stuck in a 60's/70's time-warp it was immpecably clean and the staff were lovely and friendly....

When we walked into our room we busted out laughing. Yes, you are stepping back into time. You suspect it from the moment you walk into the restaurant/lobby, but it will become very apparent when you open your room door. It is all very late 60's/early 70's. To make it complete they would just need to add green shag carpet....

We stayed for 2 nights in the Hotel Italia in September this year. We had room 19. The breakfast was fine and I believe the restaurant is great. The hotel was clean but very tired and old. The room was done in orange and brown (lovely!) and the bathroom had a concertina door on it which I haven't seen for...

Well, I must admit I wasn't as pleased with this hotel as I was expecting. The location is excellent, but the rest is average. The room was fairly clean (but old), the staff was friendly & helpful, and the breakfast was ok. We didn't spend much time in the room because we were out exploring the city all day. This...

The staff are friendly and helpful. There was no lift so they brought my bag up the stairs for me :> The room was clean but basic no hairdryer etc. The toilet had a strange type of accordion door that i last saw...

We just got back from a week in the Mosel Valley in Germany, a beautiful area to explore. We spent our last night at the Hotel-Restaurant Italia in Luxembourg City, the closest airport to this area of Germany. The price was good, 80 Euros, but the noise from the street was so loud and so constant that we had to...

My husband and I stayed here three nights in Nov. 2004. While not fancy, the hotel is clean, comfortable, friendly and one of the best values for the money we found during our stay in Europe. It is a quick walk to the train station or easily accessible from the Luxemburg airport by city bus. The restaurant is charming for...

Stayed at Italia for 1 night. It is a good hotel with a perfect location at a very reasonable price - good value for money. Staff is friendly and the restaurant serves delicious genuine Italian food. Would definitely go back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Italia has a name that leaves little doubt about what is there. Italian culinary tradition and spirit of Mediterranean family make the whole atmosphere of the place. But it is also the first Italian restaurant of Luxembourg, become indispensable today. In 1962, Leo and Anna Antognoli Trigatti, his wife, write the history of this institution, with any family: Dario and Nilde Antognoli, brothers and sister are working to mixtures of hot and cold dishes while their mamma Maria Antognoli- Bussaglia is the source of all revenue. The latter is a wealth of knowledge that has revived this cuisine in its purest sense. The pasta, salads, lasagna, tiramisu and all the restaurant's specialties have the same flavor as it was 100 years in Italy. The restaurant quickly became an institution visited by all the Luxembourg gratin because there is no place more simple and easy to sample Italian specialties. The generosity of the plates and the service to the old do not leave the choice to leave sated and satisfied. This simplicity is found in meat and fish dishes; let the product speak: beef tenderloin, veal cutlet, saltimbocca, grilled fish or scampi ... Warm Aparthotel The 19th-century building that houses the restaurant already rented rooms at the time. A boon in this area of the Luxembourg Railway Station. The hotel has always been known for its warm and friendly welcome. The fame of the house has only grown as the travelers passed the word. Now fully renovated and turned into apartment hotel, it continues to attract visitors with a modernized comfort and the latest amenities. Leo's smile Antognoli has meanwhile not changed and it is now his daughter Leah, who took control of this legendary hotel and restaurant of Luxembourg, always looking for the total satisfaction of each customer. ... more   less
