Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Yes, the hotel isn't brilliantly central and Uber/Bolt/Taxify doesn't exist, but the buses and tram are useful and for the great weekend rate this was a brilliant stay. Be sure to find the correct one though as the bus driver from the airport directed me to the wrong one and I ended up having to catch a taxi anyway. Possibly the most comfy bed I'd ever slept in; I even drew a luxurious bath and the Italian restaurant downstairs has a brilliant quality offering. The topped up minibar on water/soft drinks is appreciated, great toiletries, luxury shower and great lighting and coffee station all adds to me giving this property 5 stars for value, comfort and overall feel.

Stayed here Valentine's weekend and every part of our stay was exceptional. Our expectations were well and truly exceeded.
Rose petals on the bed, complimentary bottle of Champagne, chocolate truffles and a personal note all awaited us on arrival which was very special.
We ordered room service breakfast which was very reasonable and very high quality. They added some chocolate hearts to make it special for Valentine's weekend.
The room was exceptionally clean and the bed very comfortable, everything was to a very high standard.
The hotel lobby itself contains two very high quality restaurants, one of which we were lucky to get a table in. It also has a bar and a cigar bar. There is then a fountain and a glass elevator for looking out over the lobby.
I used the gym facilities, which contain all you require for a good workout.
The hotel itself is close to the city centre, we used public transport for the most part to get in and out. There are a couple of buses you can get from the back of he hotel straight into the centre, or a tram at the front of the hotel. It is also only a short distance from the airport.
The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and the service was exceptional.
Overall one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at and I couldn't recommend it enough, it was such a treat.

I stayed at this Sofitel recently while visiting Luxembourg for 4 nights. Arriving very late, I was welcomed by Samuele who was wonderful! I was very pleased with my room, very clean, new with a beautiful washroom, very good in-room amenities, spacious, bright and nice, big work area. Being a woman that was travelling alone, I felt very safe and comfortable at this hotel. A special mention to Maxime who took the initiative and went out of his way to help me navigate travel plans to other EU countries by contacting several embassies to make sure I could travel. This was especially helpful due to the language barrier especially for complicated issues and the constantly changing travel rules. Everyone I encountered at the hotel was fabulous! Due to covid, I did not get to use the facilities in the hotel and the Italian restaurant was closed but the hotel was located well. It was very easy to travel to the center and there were coffee shops/restaurants nearby as well as the Mudam, Philharmonic across the street. One of my favourite parts was the bed...one of the best, most comfortable, sumptous beds I have slept in!! Great sleep! I will definitely stay here again next time I visit!

The room had a very warm temperarure when arrived. The issue was adresses in good spirit to the reception where it was also made clear that such very warm temperature is not acceptable and must be fixed.
The reception promised to solve the situation while we had dinner in the hotel restaurant. When adressed after dinner, the reception told that her colleague had went to the room and opened windows. When asked is the airco working the receptionist told that it is now turned off!
When asked how can this be the solution and when it amused us guests as a surreal situation, the receptionist simply told that there is no solution. Airco according to her was not broken, just not working! That amused us even more.
We then kindly suggested that how about solving the situation with a new room? The reseptionist got really upset that we were amused by her ridiculous way of approaching the issue and got upset. She told us we are not nice! We had to tell her that it is not nice to tell guests 2230 that their room airco is turned off and to change the room only after the guests ask to do so.
This was the most strange 5-star hotel reception experience ever. Hope they get their processes fixed asap. No appologies, not a simple sorry for the situation was given :(

At Sofitel Hotels & Resorts,we do our best to preserve the planet with our Planet21 concept. We have therefore for ecological purposes a system that only allows to heat in winter and cool in summer. It is an automatic system depending of the outside temperature. It is for this reason that our colleague turned off the air conditioning (which heated) and opened the windows. Overall we had an excellent stay at this hotel. The room was a bit on the larger size compared to other European hotels and everything was on point. The hotel itself seemed a bit quiet and low key. Not in a bad way but just noticeable. As far as location it is most definitely outside the heavily trafficked areas of the city. That said, the city rail tram stops within a 5min walk of the front door.
If you’re craving being in the middle of everything then this is not for you. But if you want newer and quieter then this is a great choice. One other tip-while this is in a much newer section of town, if you look closer you can find good restaurants and stores within a short tram ride. If we do return to Lux City this will be our choice.

Perfect service throughout stay, great location between airport & Luxembourg city. I had forgotten adaptor so could not charge mobile phone. Request to reception for help resulted in delivery of adaptor to room without delay. Upgraded to huge room on 5th floor which was perfectly appointed. Restaurant was outstanding. Super friendly staff make this hotel stand out.

We stayed at this wonderful hotel for a long weekend in July. The hotel is really beautiful and luxurious, recently renovated and in a fantastic location, just a few meters from the tram stop (which in Luxembourg is free and takes you everywhere easily). However, there are many details that make the experience of staying at Sofitel Luxembourg Europe even more special. We were traveling with our little girl and upon arrival in the room she found a cute plush panda to welcome her; on the roof of the hotel there are hives for bees and every week a special operator goes up to take the honey for the restaurant and for the excellent breakfast. All the staff were very kind and more than helpful, always with a smile and with many small attentions that made the hospitality wonderful and made us feel at home. Congratulations!!!

Although the location is not next to train station or city center, but can access conveniently by a short ride of public transport. The hotel is new and beautiful. The room is large and clean, with many complimentary drinks. Bed is comfortable and environment is quiet. Have Supermarket nearby. Highly recommended!

Beautiful hotel, very modern and spacious with beautifully decorated rooms. We had a great experience to stay in there with our 4 year old daughter. Good quality breakfast with choices for all the family. In terms of location despite the fact it is a bit out of the centre it is so easy to get anywhere by tram or even walk even with a 4 year old. Very attentive & friendly staff. We will certainly be back again

The service in check in and check out was flawless. There wasn’t no place free for parking the car when we arrived and the person in check in immediately offered to park our car for us while a colleague arranged the check in.
The room was spacious and the shower was great. We had breakfast at the hotel and it was well sorted and full of tasteful options!
It is located 10 minutes by car from downtown. The area has a lot of construction going on. During week days it may be noisy, but on weekend was fine.

No. You can use public transportation bus n. 16 and you get off where there is the Novotel suites. The Sofitel is just behind. Otherwise you can take a taxi but it's kind of expensive.
There is outside parking, I believe it is €8 per night. It's a little hard to spot at night, basically follow the signs to the Novotel, pass the Novotel on the right and on the left about 50-100m further you'll see a very faint sign for the Sofitel.
There are more places to choose from in the Luxembourg City area.
