Upon check-in, found our room reeked of cigarette smoke. They did move us to another room, and gave us a good bottle of red wine with dinner that night at the hotel. The room and beds were comfortable. The bath was small, with a ridiculously tiny countertop; the box of tissues took up one whole half of the counter. The...

If you've spent a day hiking up Snaefellsjokull or similar, you might be a bit whiff and muddy when you get back to your hotel. Sad to say, Hotel Stykkisholmur does not do guest laundry -- and there is no laundromat in town. No worries, you've got a sink that holds approx 2L of water and a radiator. Good luck...

I stayed in this hotel for two nights as part of a tour group. There were other tour groups staying here as well which appeared to make up most of the guests. The lobby staff were all very nice and check-in/check-out went smoothly. They even had a power converter for me to borrow since mine did not work. The room...

I was surprised to find the room furnishings quite low quality and the wifi non-existent in the room. For the same price (or less), I would recommend staying in a smaller hotel for better personal amenities. The only thing this hotel has going for it is a nice lobby/bar area and a restaurant with a sea view. For me, my...

We arrived late in the evening and were told that our reservation was not on file. The man at the check-in desk was very calm and reassuring, and then found our reservation after all. He put us in a beautiful room, with views of the water and the church. The hotel feels very modern for Iceland, with new carpets and...

Very functional hotel with good location. Walking distance to everything. The hotel is a bit old but clean in general. The breakfast (included) is good. We had a room with a view on the ocean and the church.

A nice hotel in 1950-60 style but modernized. Rooms small - at least in the old half. Lack of a good place to sit - but for being in a tiny town far, far away this was a fine place. Wifi was perfect. Breakfast was a big buffet Nordic style (lots of freshly baked bread, lots of cold cuts, cheeses,...

The hotel is located on a hill, 100 meters from the Bonus supermarket, same distance from the modern church and a 10 minutes walk from the harbour, which is a convenient feature if you plan to ride the ferry Baldur.to Flatey or Brjánslækur. One of the most modern buildings in town, it offers a good service. Our room was ok,...

This was our first stop in Iceland, as it was a very doable drive from the airport (even after hiking to the Glymur Falls). The rooms were clean and generally quiet. The buffet breakfast offered many choices, and as another reviewer said, included traditional Icelandic fare. Our sons, hearty eaters, were quite happy. I also greatly appreciated having access to...

The hotel, though large and institutional-looking, is in fact very well run, very tidy and clean, and with excellent, friendly help at the front desk. It overlooks the charming town of Stykkisholmur, and some rooms have a nice view. The breakfast (included) is an ample buffet with many good choices. Only complaint--hard to figure out the shower controls. The town...
