Stykkisholmur is a quaint little town on the north side of the Snaefellsness penninsula on the western side of Iceland. A scene in the Movie "Secret Life of Walter Mitty" was filmed here by the little harbor. We were at the end of tourist season (last of September), so the Hring Hotel had rooms with no reservation needed and we... More

This hotel is located on the hill overlooking the area so that it gives a pretty good view. Room and the bathroom were just ok but too small for the room rate we paid compared to other hotels we stayed in Iceland. Breakfast was simple but good enough. It is ok overall if you don't expect too much when you... More

We stayed here one night as part of our escorted Iceland tour. This hotel located on a small hill in a quiet residential neighborhood. The main building looked like a factory compound from a distance. Our group were assigned rooms down the hill in an apartment complex. We had to walk up the hill to the main building for both... It looks like the rooms have recently been renovated and they look nice. The beds were comfortable but the comforters and pillows were not good at all compared to hotels in Iceland in general, it was like there was a blanket in the cover. The cover was out dated. Shower was nice, and the room in general had plenty of... More

It's large hotel on small hillock overlooking the tiny town and harbour. The reception area nd resturant are spacious, but the same cannot be said about the rooms. Though neat they are small. The bathroom could have been better planned. Besides being small, the shower area is rather troublesome with its semi-circular half door. Water splashes and flows all over.... More

We booked this hotel as part of our South-West region trip. We were greeted by a nice gentleman who gave us our room. Room was quite small and the two single beds were very narrow, with a too small blanket. Room was clean and tidy. Shower was ok, very bad planning. Breakfast was nice, good selection of cheese, ham, vegetables... More

Overall, this is a pretty average place. Exceptions are that the wine pours were generous, the hotel is quiet and the wi-fi was free. When I checked in, the bellman delivered my luggage and I saw that the handle was broken off. "Oh", I exclaimed, "the handle is broken!" He looked at me blandly. I said, "Well, it wasn't broken... Overlooks the town and the harbor, both of which are within easy walking distance. Small, quainter than some of the bigger hotels you find in Iceland, such as the Hilton in Reykjavik, which is nice. Good spread for breakfast.

With few options that are reasonably priced, we opted to stay here. This is a hotel that caters to tour large tour groups. The location is okay and is near to the marina by car where the ferry to the Westfjords operates. The rooms are very small as compared to the rooms throughout the rest of our trip. Tiny shower... Stayed here for 2 nights on a fishing trip. The hotel is comfortable and the reception staff were very friendly. The breakfast was good with nice coffee. The dining room can be rather busy if there is a coach party in. Lovely views over the town and the fjord.

Thank William S
