Our stay at the Grand Guesthouse Gardakot was truly lovely. We were welcomed by a young woman who showed us the home and where our room was. Everything was so peaceful and relaxing. The home was something out of a design magazine - long wooden table, white bathroom, big bed in front of the window. We had to leave early...

Our experience at Gardakot was really great and that soothed the very high price of the accommodation, which turned out to be the most expensive of our Icelandic vacation. But I have to repeat: it was worth! The location is spectacular: some miles from the center of Vik, in an isolated position, by the cliff: just nature around you and...

Beautiful guesthouse. Most amazing breakfast in Iceland. All fresh and home made. The care taker is the lovestruck young lady. She knew we were interested in the Icelandic Christmas traditions and used her own time to research and tell us more about the yule ladz!

We enjoyed our stay here very much. It's a great location for sightseeing in the Vik area. Our hostess was quite welcoming. All was comfy and clean with a great homemade breakfast provided. Our favorite lodging in Iceland!

Ava was a phenomenal hostess. From the moment we arrived and she showed us around, provided dinner recommendations and suggested other sights to see while in the Vik area to the absolutely amazing breakfast she had prepared for us the next morning, we were very pleased with our stay. About breakfast......oh my! A robust European continental breakfast with flax seed...

First off, this guesthouse is very easy to find. If you're going to Dyrholaey, you'll see it on the road directly to your right. When we arrived, we were a bit confused as to exactly where to go. There's a house directly in the drive, and what appears to be a garage, or shed, and several workbuildings with a "Grand...

Fantastic place, really nice located, remote, but still with access to sightseeing and restaurants within 10-15 minutes. Rooms where really nice, high standard but still with authentic feeling. We had the best breakfast during our stay in Iceland, all homemade by the host! We strongly recommend this place!!!

Highly recommended. Fresh baked cake waited for us upon arrival. They could work a bit on the surroundings and the look on the buildings from the outside. When you drive down the privat road leading to the place, you get a bit disspointed. But the interior deco is the best we had on Iceland. And the breakfast with freshly baked...

We spent one night at Grand Guesthouse Gardakot and wished we had stayed longer. It is on a farm very close to the coast. A friendly dog checked us out, the chickens ignored us, the sheep were mildly curious. We were in a house with four guest bedrooms and a central kitchen, dining and living room. We were warmly greeted...

We drove for two hours from Reykjavik to the guesthouse. Along the way we visited Seljalandsfoss and Skogarfoss. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Carolina who was very friendly and welcoming. We were requested to leave our shoes which kept the whole house clean. We were also informed that we could use the kitchen and prepare meals on our...
