The Sigló Hotel by Keahotels garners praise for its comfortable and immaculate rooms, with guests often mesmerized by the serene marina views. While the service receives commendations for being attentive, an isolated incident suggests a less engaging experience at the bar. Cleanliness shines as a strong suit, though opinions on value diverge with some deeming the establishment pricey, especially the bar and restaurant. The hotel's atmosphere is described as both elegant and inviting, and its prime location with a geothermal hot tub is celebrated by numerous travelers.

Good god what is there not to like? This is one of the most special hotels I've stayed in anywhere, half because the hotel is run like a tight ship, and half because Siglufjordur was such an unexpected joy of a town.

But as for the hotel, it stands out for the gorgeous room, amazing hot pool, jaw-dropping sauna, delicious food, and fantastic staff.

In particular I'd like to thank the front desk staff for taking separate reservations we had in separate room categories and combining them so we could stay in the same room. It was a full property but they made it happen.

I’d have stayed for a week if I could.

Hotel Siglo is a nice property in the heart of Siglofjordur right on the harbor. Rooms are nicely appointed with double bed, good sized desk, sitting area by the window to look out over the harbor, TV, hot water pot, WiFi, and bathroom. Multiple charging options (plug + USB) on either side of the bed and sockets near the desk. I’m pleased to say the quality of the restaurant for dinner has not changed between Nov 2019 – Dec 2022. The seafood soup, lamb entrée, and almond cake were all excellent! Unfortunately, the breakfast was not quite up to the same standard. The Continental portion was perfectly fine but the eggs and bacon looked to be a day old or so and re-heated. Still, Siglo is an excellent option. It is just a few minutes walk around the harbor and into the town. And is within an hour or so of Akureyri and other sites in the North. Would stay here again.

The hotel is located in the heart of town which has roughly 1500 people. The town is 3 roads wide with mountains on either side resulting in some dramatic scenery. Looking up you can see the avalanche defense structures. In town, you can find signs that talk about the avalanche history, and there are nearby hiking trails that take you up the side of the mountain. Because the town is so small, everything is within walking distance: a few restaurants, cafe, a grocery store, a booze store, a bank and a bakery. (Free) Parking is across the street or next door at the marina.

While a poor choice of exterior color, the hotel is surprisingly nice inside, with friendly, accommodating staff. The hotel has it's own (free) thermal pool out front for the guests. It's typically quiet early in the day then gets busier just before dinner and throughout the evening. You can  purchase drinks from the lobby bar to drink at the baths if you want. The hotel has a nice lounge area off the lobby with a wood stove where you can hang out and read.

The rooms are spacious and decorated nicely, the beds are comfortable, with a flat screen tv, but surprisingly no mini fridge. Most rooms will have views of the water and harbor. The amenities in the room were all top notch.

The included buffet breakfast was good which is served in the main restaurant. In the evening you can eat fancy and pricey meals (roughly $25 for starters, $50-60 for entrees and $20 for dessert), or walk to the options nearby.

Overall, this was a pleasant splurge in a quiet, colorful town.

Fantastic hotel! Our large, super quiet hotel room was on the first floor facing the water, had a comfortably dreamy double bed, a window box seat, a giant bathroom, a Nescafé coffeemaker with pods and blackout curtains.

The sun doesn’t set in June but once you draw the curtains you’ll be asleep in no time. The large rectangular outdoor “hot tub” and indoor dry sauna was insanely refreshing on a cold and rainy Summer evening.

Make reservations, in advance or when you check in, for dinner at the Sunna Restaurant inside Sigló, they have a healthy fresh delicious seasonal menu.

I recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a comfortable and beautiful stay in Siglufjörður… and if you’re a Trapped (Icelandic TV show) fan, then staying here is a must! Inside the Raðhús (a short walk next door to Sigló) is the Siglufjörður public library and they have copies of the Trapped filming locations map.

Also highly recommend Aðalbakarí (bakery) a short walk from the hotel for incredible sandwiches, pastries, and bread (take some to-go for your drive out of Siglufjörður).

Liked the hotel - particularly the woman at the front desk who couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. Room was very quiet which we appreciate. We’d paid 60 Euros more than our friends for an upgraded room with a view (#230) and having seen theirs (201) we wasted our money. Hot tub was fun and a good way to meet Icelanders.

Restaurant is typical hotel: expensive and bland. Breakfast so-so.

This hotel is well located in a very pretty setting in an interesting small town up north. We took a detour off the ring road and were glad we did although one night would have been enough. The room was probably one of the best we had in Iceland with an amazing view over the water, the bed, pillows and bathroom were clean and so comfortable. The town is interesting with a great cafe, family fish and chip shop and a couple of restaurants.

The Hotel was the only one we stayed in on a two week tour of Iceland that did not have a happy hour, the bar was always empty in the evening and the one evening we did have a drink were served by a grumpy bar man who had no dry white wine by the glass, only demi-sec. The restaurant does not belong to the hotel and at the end of the meal this sent everyone scurrying back to their rooms for credit cards as you are unable to put the cost on your room. The food is good but expensive even by Icelandic standards.

The big let down was breakfast (hence the three stars)which was very poor quality and at times inedible, please see attached photos of the green solid scrambled egg and unbrowned sausages - when I asked the server why they were green I was told eggs always turn green when they are cooked for a long time.

Loved this hotel - spent two nights there in July 2021 and ate in the hotel restaurant both evenings. Well run and welcoming hotel. The rooms are beautifully designed, ours had a lovely window seat looking out over the harbour and we enjoyed the amazing colours at 'sunset' when the colours over the mountains was fantastic. The bed was very comfortable, the bedding and pillows luxurious. The bathroom was very stylish and well set out. Altogether, we didn't want to leave and would recommend.

We stayed here in July 2020. Great experience. The hotel is in a wonderful location, right on the harbor. Many rooms have direct views of the harbor and fishing vessels in the port. The facilities are in great condition - hotel feels almost new. Modern and comfortable look and feel. Everything in the room was in perfect working order. They have a very nice bar and lounge area. We enjoyed some nice cocktails before dinner. The restaurant was excellent. The best part of our stay however were the hot pots right outside the hotel, on the harbor. Large, made out of concrete. Water was at about 40C. Wonderful relaxing time in the hot pots after dinner, enjoying the late daylight and view over the water and mountains. Highly recommended.

We stopped over for one night on our ring road trip of Iceland. This hotel stands out in the town as significant investment in a small place. Our harbour facing room was large and well appointed - best pillows on our trip so far - all comfort was provided .

FOC with your room is access to a great hot tub ( large ) with beautiful views over the water and mountains. There is also a sauna.

Great cocktail bar and nice lounge to sit in and sip your drink .

We ate in the restaurant (booked ahead ). Food was good - probably the most formal restaurant we’ve eaten in so far ( day 10/14).

Breakfast was a well provided self serve buffet. Coffee from a machine . I suspect like half the world Icelandic hotels are struggling to recruit too many staff at the moment.

I would happily come back to this hotel for another stay.

2wd is enough as long as its not snowing too much! I went in a tiny car during summer and that was totally fine. But honestly you never know with this country. Maybe better safe than sorry?

yes, no, yes. In other words, it would be a great spot to see the northern lights if they are out. We did not see them in September though we looked from various locations along the Ring Road. There was also no snow while we stayed at the Siglo, so not sure about husky rides without snow! We sure could see the avalanche prevention fencing should there be some. As far as transfers, I'm not sure what airport you are referring to.... we drove, through single lane tunnels, a very exciting way to get there, and it was quite a drive from Reykjavik, though very accessible from the other side via Akureyri if you're flying into there. Oh, and we had a vegetarian with us who was very well fed everywhere we went, and the Moroccan restaurant in the hostel near the hotel was magnificent!

It is beautiful in winter. The drive from Reykjavik can be a bit exciting depending on the weather, so if you are not accustomed to winter driving you may consider public transport. Also, it is dark all the time, so be prepared for that as well. You have a good chance to see northern lights as well. I recommend it.
