Dear JKB59 Thank you so much for your astonishing review regarding your most recent stay with us at Fosshótel Reykjavík. The team and I very much appreciate your amazing feedback. It gives me great pleasure to hear how wonderful your experience was. I am pleased that you found our hotel ideally located for your stay. We are indeed situated right by the main shopping street in a short walking distance for Reykjavík’s main attractions yet away far enough to be bothered by the buzz of the city and sometimes loud night life. I am also delighted that you enjoyed our plentiful breakfast buffet. We also provide a fresh coffee pot for all of our guest in which they can take to there table. Furthermore thank you for your comments regarding the staff, which I believe are the heart and soul of our hotel. Again, thank you for sharing your kind comments with us and the readers of TripAdvisor. We look forward to welcoming you back to Fosshótel Reykjavík in the hopefully very near future. With much appreciation, Dagrún Antoinette Pettypiece, Guest Relations Manager.

We were on a Colette tour and they chose the hotel. It was excellent. As with everything in Iceland, food and alcohol are very expensive. The location was great and very accessible to downtown and a reasonable walking distance to everything. The hotel itself was very modern and h

Hello, is there a public bus you can use to get into the centre etc? The walk would be a bit to far for my elderly mother. Thanks.
Yes! The public bus stop is just outside of the hotel and an even busier stop is about 500 yards at the main intersections (Hlemmur Mathioll)

We are booked to stay at this hotel in November for my husbands birthday. Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant to celebrate his birthday or is the restaurant in the hotel a nice place to celebrate.
The restaurant at this hotel serves buffet style. The food is decent but I wouldn't recommend it for a birthday dinner. They have a nice beer garden & a good Happy Hour that would be good for a birthday drink. A nice place for a birthday dinner is Sushi Social its about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The Fish Market is also nice; both have good food. Make a reservation and they are both kind of pricey.

Can anyone confirm there is individually controlled air conditioning in all the guest rooms?
There's no air conditioning at all. It's Iceland and it's supposed to be cool but you know, global warming... Anyway, there's a window that you can open and that helps.

Hello all, I’m doing a whale watching tour with Elding Adventure at Sea in Old Harbour. Is it walking distance from the FossHotel or should be take a taxi? Thank you
The centre is in walkable distance from the hotel. It will take you approximately 25 minutes by foot. If the weather is good I really recommend it, so that you can explore the city. If you decide to take a taxi you can ask the reception to call you one on your way out. It only takes ten minutes for the taxi to arrive. See you soon!

Regards the Hotel dinner buffet and local restaurants. From what I can gather the dinner bufffet is around £50pp does anyone know if any drinks are included in this? Also are there any local restaurants that offer a Set menu that anyone can recommend.
I can’t answer to the dinner buffet, but we highly enjoyed the breakfast ones that did include juices, milk, tea and coffee. There were a couple coffee shops/bakeries within walking distance of the hotel.
