I was looking for a place well located in Reykjavik where I could recharge my batteries for several days before starting an 8-day trek. Guesthouse Galtafell fit the bill. From there I could easily walk anywhere I wanted to in the downtown area. Essentially I had a one-bedroom apartment to myself which enabled me to eat in when I wanted...

We had a short layover in Iceland, but were delighted with our choice to stay here. We felt like we would love to go back and stay much longer. The host was wonderful with a delicious breakfast in the mornings!

Instead of the booked double room, we have been welcomed in a very pleasant 2 room apt with separate entrance on the garden, kitchenette (including coffee machine, coffee, sugar and chocolates), sofa, big table and a very comfy big bed with fresh quality linen. Close to city center (walking distance) and located in a quiet neighbourhood, the house offers a...

We were greeted by the owner "Jelly Belly" (Cat) ... The 2 bedroom we had was great. Super clean, kitchenette with Coffee for us, etc. The location is super close to all the attractions but on a quite street. The staff was super accommodating and accepted some delayed luggage for us while on a hiking trip. Great place! I'd stay...

Guesthouse Galtafell was amazing! Cute pets, good breakfast, convenient location, great room! Thorey and Agnes were so sweet and welcoming! (They would help us communicate with the our tour companies to work out problems and arrange for pick- ups. Our lovely trip to Iceland was made 10x better because of the amazing service at Guesthouse Galtafell. Thanks, guys!

Iceland was a real adventure for us. Galtafell made it a very welcoming trip. It's a very comfortable place and in easy walking distance of most of downtown Reykjavik. It's quiet so if you are looking for the party scene, this is not the place.

I can't say enough about the positive experience I had at Guesthouse Galtafell. They were so accommodating even with travel arrivals and departures that they simplified my life substantially. The room was very clean and airy and we were close to so much, including the university where our conference was held. I will happily stay here again when I return...

We stayed here before and after our tour of Iceland, 3 nights in total. It is in a nice quiet location in the embassy district of Reykjavik (Galtafell was formerly the Maltese Consulate). Friendly staff, Very clean and very well kept. Good breakfast at 1500 IKr each. You can park in the road free, usually very close to the hotel.

Only spent one night there. Older guest house with most modern conveniences, well located within walking distance of the central areas of Reykjavik. The room we stayed in was shabby and could use a good going over. There in June, the room was quite cold, not sure if the heat was on or working. Breakfast extra. Also free parking is...
