I ended up choosing Hotel Reykjavik Centrum after quite a lot of searching for something I liked the look of and something in a good location. The hotel looks nice from the outside (not a huge grey building like lots of them here) and is in perfect location downtown in the main square. Although it's on the edge of the...

Friendly efficient staff. Good food. Better value in bar than restaurant. Happy hour in bar from 1700 to 1900 takes some of the sting out of the prices. Actually the bar food was cheaper than most places in the town. If you stay in the hotel you get 20% off in the more expensive hotel restaurant.

Stayed here for the last two days of our trip. Personally wish we'd stayed outside of Reykjavik as I preferred waking up to the amazing views Hotel Ranga provided. This hotel is conveniently located to the bars and restaurants. Not a bonus if your hotel room is facing the road. We were kept awake most of the night by a...

So lets talk about the elephant in the room first. EVERYTHING is stupid expensive in Iceland - the cost of this hotel, would get me a nice roomy 5 star hotel in Banff, Canada. It's hard to grasp the concept that is not a rip off, it's the standard value in Reykjavik. Overall the hotel was nice, I didn't eat...

Very nice staff, friendly average sized room with heated floor in bathroom. Very handy for shopping and local places to eat. Hotel as a la carte resturaunt and also bar room that also serves bar meals.

Located righting the heart of Reykjavik within walking distance of main shopping area, bars and restaurants. Having stayed in another Reykjavik hotel that catered mainly for tourists ("a hotel for walkers" my host told me) this hotel is much more of a "business type hotel" but still small enough to have plenty of character. Room I occupied had split level...

I went on a group tour of Iceland and we stayed in this hotel during our trip. I felt very comfortable and at ease here. It was very centrally located to many shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed their breakfast and loved the happy hour specials...had a great time in their bar. The rooms we stayed in were clean and...

Easy walk to everywhere! We were here 5 nights and I was fine with this hotel. Got worried right before I left, because the reviews seemed to be getting more negative. Yes, the carpet in the hall could use replacing, but it's a very wet country and I am sure people are tracking in dirt. Also, the original color looked...

Fabulous location and at the centre of the town. Staff all exceptionally helpful. We stayed in a studio apartment which was spacious. Room cleaned daily and bed re-made. Would highly recommend Iceland but make sure you have a fully loaded credit card!

The hotel is in a fantastic location, close to lots of restaurants and bars, and just a short distance to the main shopping area. Our room, breakfast etc. were all good, and the museum below is worth a visit.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Reykjavik Centrum is a new first class hotel in the heart of the city, opened on April 1st 2005. It is located on one of Reykjavik’s oldest streets, Adalstraeti, in a newly renovated building, the oldest part of which was built in 1764. On each side of it, new buildings have been constructed in the likeness of their historic predecessors. The hotel spreads over all three buildings, and is designed in the style found in Reykjavík around 1900. During its construction, the remains of a Viking longhouse from the Settlement Period were found. Among the finds excavated at the site were Iceland’s oldest human remains, dating from approximately 870 AD.The hotel has 89 rooms, each fitted with modern amenities, such as satellite TV, telephone, Internet access, mini-bar, radio, iron and board, hair dryer, safe and tea & coffee set. All rooms have en-suite bathroom with either a shower or a bath. ... more   less
