Original North - is a small family business located on an estate named Vað in Þingeyjarsveit which has belonged to our family for generations. This area has a unique spirit where it is easy to relax in the nature. We offer two types of accommodation. Luxury glamping tents or rent our country house. Glamping is one of the most uniq way to experience the Icelandic nature in the best way, sitting outsite and enjoy the quietness, listening to the birds and the river, while watching the sun sets. The tents are very well equipped, for example a carpet on the floor, furnitures, heating system and a heating blankets in beds. It´s only few meters to toilets and showers. High speed Wi-Fi.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed 3 nights at the camp. And it was a really special experience!
The tents are very comfortable and include all the good things of camping, like being close to the nature. At the same time the “glamping” offers a great advantage compared to normal camping by sleeping in a very comfy bed with heating blankets. There is a common area for eating and cooking as well as a small heated container with two showers and three toilets. All are daily cleaned. Big plus that it is heated! Compared to other camping sites this is above standard.
You need to have in mind, that it is still a tent and should not be confused with a hotel room. But this is what makes it special!
We had bad luck with the weather - which of course is no fault of the camp! The owner, Sigrun, gave us the opportunity to still rethink our choice due to the bad weather forecast but we decided to stay anyway. Since it is a tent you can of course hear the rain and the wind. The cold didn’t bother us since we had the heat blankets and an additional heating system. It was a real adventure to stay in the tents during a blizzard. But we can now officially confirm that the tents are solid and waterproof. And belief us, the wind was really strong!
Due to the bad weather and also COVID we were the only guests those days and we had the common areas to ourselves. In the breakfast room is a small kitchen which is allowed to use for self-cooking.
Even though only one of the twelve tents was used Sigrun and her brother took great care of us and the facilities. Her brother was always available if we had questions or needed some help! He spared no efforts to help us even though it was our own crazy decision to stay in a tent during a storm. He made it possible that everything still went fine and we had an amazing experience! Both checked on us in case we would change our minds and made sure that we are fine.
So a huge thank you for that! You two are amazing! You made us feel cared for and very welcome.
And for the third night the weather changed to amazing :-)

Super nice tents and staff, showers and facilities are super clean. The warming blankets and the heater keep you warm at all times! You can get towels if you need them and store personal items in the fridge. Breakfast is not included (2000kr p.p) but there's always coffee and tea. Beautiful stay!

An experience I will remember forever. Our Family tent was amazing with heat, plenty of outlets, bed warmers, wonderful bedding, strong WiFi, clean facilities, and the views and quiet country side were amazing. Our hosts were attentive to small details. We could not stay after check in due to an appt in Husavik and when we returned our heaters were on and we were led to our tent by our host on his electric bike with head lamp. Breakfast was wonderful with homemade humus and jams along with other local and meat options.
We stayed two nights and enjoyed every minute and this was my kind of camping (glamping).

We had a wonderful stay at the glamping. Sigrun and her team put themselves to great length to make our stay memorable, whether it be for the comfort of the tents, the cleanliness of the common areas and also breakfast, even kind enough to wash our clothes since there was no laundry facility nearby.
The access road for a small car as we had was also possible.

We’re giving our True North experience 5 stars because it was a delightful experience from start to finish. We’ve done a lot of camping over the years but never in a tent like this! Roomy, delightfully decorated, a bed with heated mattress pad and fluffy white comforters was perfect for the rainy night. Bathroom and showers are just a few steps away, and the (optional) continental breakfast was delicious. Everything is very clean, laidback and restful. And the view- you’ll have to come see for yourself!

We had a really nice time staying at Original North. The tents are beautifully located next to a small river in the middle of nowhere basically. The tents are decorated in a lovely way with attention to detail. You can take nice pictures! Big plus was the small mirror in the tent. There’s a heater in the tent and heated blankets. We stayed here for one night and the only thing that we did not enjoy was that there was lots of rain and wind during the night keeping us awake as it would make a lot of noise on the tent, but hey, this is camping after all. Bathrooms are nice, clean and modern and only a short walk away from the tents. We booked breakfast for around 14€ per person, which was cheaper than in other place we stayed in Iceland. Would recommend anyone to come here but be prepared that it’s camping and make sure to bring a sleep mask and maybe earplugs. 😉

This place is stunning, we had 2 tents next to the river and the surroundings were so beautiful! The host was very friendly and kind, we drank something from his bar and he let us stay and cook in the main kitchen. I was afraid I would have felt cold (I'm always cold!) but it doesn't happened. The tent is very well heated and has electric blankets. The bathrooms and the showers were very clean.

Beautiful location close to Husavik. The yurts overlook a lake - very peaceful and quiet location.
The yurts are decorated really well, plenty of space inside them. There’s a heater which warmed the place very quickly plus electric blankets on the (comfy!) bed for extra coziness.
The shared facilities were all good, didn’t have to queue for showers or toilets.
Would definitely stay again.

Great please to stay, very accommodating and friendly. It was a bit cold on the night we stayed but they really thought of everything for us to stay very warm dispute the wind and rain. I highly recommend this glamping experience. The location is very quiet and remote and right on a river! The only downside is that you do have to walk to the bathroom facilities but that’s to be expected if you are “glamping” 10/10 would stay again.

This was a quiet and peaceful place to stay. The owners were passionate about the tours they provided (e.g. E-Bike tour) and keeps the property beautifully.
There are no restaurants around but you can drive about 20-30 minutes to find one. Alternatively you can prepare your own food. There is a BBQ grill and two kitchens with stoves and plenty of plates/utensils.
Although the bathrooms/showers are shared, there is one separated unit that you can use privately in case you want more privacy, that includes a shower, toilet and sink.
Breakfast was a lot better than most places, especially the home made items.
Overall, I had a relaxing and pleasant time.

Hi. The beds are king size and we recommend if the baby is little it is best to have it in the bed with you but we also have baby bed for you.
Kind regards, Sigrún
