Detailed Reviews
We stayed here in February 2019 as part of a package trip with Superbreak from the UK (unfortunately they are no more). We got the trip as an amazing price last minute deal. The apartments were lovely, they were adequate size for the two of us for 3 nights, but maybe would have been a bit cozy for a family. The room was never cold - infact we often had to turn the heating right down as it got to warm, not something I expected in Iceland! The hot tub on the balcony was a fantastic surprise, I loved that each time you turned the hot tub on you got fresh water and it didn't take too long to heat up. There was a shop not too far walk away, and the walk down into the town was a few minutes but very pleasant. We loved our trip to Iceland. Thank you!!

We stayed here for three nights and had a pleasant stay. Lovely studio for two people and we enjoyed the hot tub and views. The studios are well set up for a few days and we walked into the centre (15-20 mins) for our evening meals. The Manager was lovely and full of personality.

The location of these bungalows is simply stunning...we sat in the hot tub overlooking snow covered mountains and the fjords in blissful, private peace. The hot tub on the terrace was clean and heated with geo thermal water to a perfect 39c. We had all the kitchen equipment we needed, including a dishwasher, microwave and hob. It's located just steps from the bus stop -all city buses in the town are completely free -& 15minutes walk from the supermarket, swimming pool and maybe 20minutes from the town centre. The staff were so incredibly helpful, ordering taxis for us and telling us about the sights of the town. (Note: it's a 15 minute walk to the free bus to the Forest Lagoon, which is definitely worth a visit).

All members of our family agreed this was clearly the best of the 8 hotels we stayed in during our drive around Iceland's ring road.
Our stand alone apartment was nicely appointed, had plenty of space, and had a nice view down the hill to the S. tip of the fjord. It was very comfortable and well lit. It had good appliances, a hot tub, washer/dryer, a good big fridge, etc. Excellent value.
Paulina at the front desk made it easy for us to check in despite our not knowing exactly when we would arrive. She was friendly/helpful. She kindly helped me call our next hotel when I was worried we would not arrive there until after the front desk closed and was having trouble reaching them via the phone numbers I had.
It would be a long but manageable walk (maybe 25 mins) to downtown Akureyri - but it has plenty of parking and driving distances in Akureyri are very short. And it is right next to the (free, northernmost) botanical gardens.
Anything to improve? We had trouble figuring out the stovetop - so maybe instructions for that.
If you get an apartment with a hot tub: We were confused/worried that the hot tub was empty. But when you turn the unit on, it fills with heated water. And when you turn it off, it drains.
We were only here for one night but this would make a great choice if using Akureyri as a base for a longer stay.

Nice clean apartment with a small kitchen, and a patio. Comfortable bed, nice to have a small table and chairs to use for breakfast. We took advantage of the washer and dryer on site which we were happy to find. We had a small issue with the TV but it was fixed within 5 minutes by sending a WhatsApp message. Nothing remarkable, but a nice stay.

Made this booking many months back and was really looking forward to the nice apartment. Arrived at the reception, rudely told by person that my booking had been cancelled as a room had broken down. Received no calls from the place, pushed the blame to Expedia as I booked through hotels.com. Would have been a simple job to contact me. We arrived tired, needing to go to the toilet urgently, but now left stranded. Insisted they were fully booked and the room was ‘broken’. Exactly that night at 10pm, received an email from hotels that my reservation was cancelled as the property was not operating due to Covid when they clearly were.
Oh, forgot to mentioned, I’m Chinese. Yes, this all makes sense. Maybe a room really did broke down and who to kick off the list...

Firstly, Saelhus were hugely accommodating when we had to move our trip to COVID. We eventually stayed here over Christmas 2021 and we stayed in one of the 3 bedroom apartments. It was a fantastic set up but it was evident that there may not have been many people staying here recently. From day 1 of us being there, lights didn't work, the fire alarm sensor was beeping. Both of these Saeluhus fixed but as we went into the Christmas/Boxing day period when there were no staff around, we opened up the Barbecue and it was totally unusable (dirty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned for years) and the hot tub didn't. Although the overall stay was enjoyable, this did put a bit of a dampner on things. Akureyi itself is incredible and we really enjoyed being here.

We loved the hot tub and used it every night. Very easy system, just push the button and it will fill up with perfectly temperate water, that will automatically stop when it is full. Great view, big terrace, nice and clean. Easy check-in and -out.

This place is one of the best option you can choose for a stay in whole Iceland. Great value for a hot tub place. Superb view, location is great, scenery is exceptional. Definitely recommend for all kinds of travellers. But the best part is the staff, very friendly and helpful. Our greatest praise goes to Mrs. Pálína at the reception, she is more helpful than almost anyone I've ever met in the travelling business. She and this place cannot be recommended enough. 10+++.

Very comfortable, clean and quiet. Even ocean view from our living room. I belief not all the hotel properties have a view like this.
Included everything we needed for a great weekend stay.
We were upgraded to a larger house that included a hot tub.
