The catch-cry is 'Escape the Ordinary' & that is definitely correct. This was an prison in Helsinki & was made into a hotel. Recent refurbishment has made a beautiful, unique facility. The Hotel is only a 10-15 min walk to the city tourist centre. We had room 331 in the main 'cell block'. The room clearly covers 3 'cells' with...

The story behind this hotel, it's an old prison, is special. The hotel is very nice designed and has all the luxury you need. The location is a bit out of the city centre, but you can walk or hire a bike really near and use the bike to go wherever you want. Breakfast is good and the staff is...

Situated in the Katajanokka area , 20 minutes walk or so from the station, and ideally located for Viking Line ferry services, This is a unique hotel, in the old prison buildings. Although now plushly carpeted the landing and stairs are still in place, as are the cell doors. The rooms are very comfortable and have a decent bathroom and...

Nevertheless it is a former jail, it is very nice place to stay. Very quit rooms all nicely equiped and very large breakfast. Ony breakfast room is quit dark some more light would help. Tram 4 stops in front of the hotel... so no reason why not selecting this hotel.

In most respects, Hotel Katajanokka offers ideal accommodation. It's a brilliantly designed and executed conversion of a former prison with smart, attractive fixtures and fittings. The location right next to a tram stop on a charming inner-city island couldn't be better, handy extras like an iron and room safe are provided, and the staff are at all times pleasant and...

Hello Warm greetings from Katajanokka, and thank you for your contribution. I am pleased to hear that you overall you had a wonderful experience with us. I have been here in May 2016. I have to say it is the most incredible and unique Hotel I have experienced so far. An old prison now turned into a fantastic and relaxing hotel. Everything is excellent. Rooms are very modern and fashion. Breakfast is really great. Worth to spend few nights!

The atmosphere was different and pleasant. I've never been in such a quiet hotel room. Breakfast was very good. The shower has great water pressure :D Tram stop is nearby if you don´t want to walk. I would definitely stay here again.
