Top if you are looking for a cheap place to stay. Even their 16 people shared rooms are furnitured in a very intelligent way so they provide privacy. I was really scared of sleeping in one room with 15 other people. After my trip there, i was not anymore. Also their shared area is really comfy and has everything you need including sofas, multiple TVs and a REALLY big kitchen. It is also very clean and the staff is super friendly.

Pretty standard. Hostel is pretty clean, reasonably priced for Finland, amenities work okay. There's a 24hr Alepa downstairs which is handy. It does the job. It is VERY HOT in the building during summer though. You will wake up feeling like the swap monster, so be prepared for that. Finland, like the UK, doesn't really do air conditioning (as far as I know) so I can understand because it's already a cold country. Some of the guests were kinda noisy but that's just a hostel thing. Can't really complain. I wasn't exactly spending too much time in the hostel because I had a city to explore. But it's clean, safe and comfortable and its somewhere to sleep, innit?

Room Tip: Usual stuff about earplugs, sleep masks, checking for bugs, being aware that it's not The Ritz so...

I loved my stay at CheapSleep, I was there for Tuska Festival (a heavy metal music festival) so it was full of like-minded metalheads. It was also Helsinki Pride, so the atmosphere in the hostel was great. The staff was extremely helpful, especially cause I had a lot of questions regarding public transport and things to do (reception open 24 hours). The location was great, 15 minute-walk to the festival area, a 5 to 10 mintue walk to Kallio (the nightlife district) and a short tram ride to central Helsinki. Rooms and beds were clean and fairly quiet, considering that everyone was in Helsinki to party. As with any hostel I've been to, you should always pack some earplugs and eye masks if you're a light sleeper. Toilets were clean and well kept and there was a cleaner working everyday after the check-out rush. The toilets on the 4th floor offer a lot of privacy, with single shower cabins and single toilets cubicle. Each cubicle also had a sink and a bidet nozzle; this is a really convenient perk that I've never seen in any other hostel I've been to (and I mostly stay in hostels all over the world). The showers and the toilets on the second floor were much smaller but still good and well maintaned. I think the only downside was that, while they do offer women-only dorms, they do not offer men-only dorms. It was very hot in Helsinki, so obvisouly many people were sleeping in their underwear and not everyone was comfortable with sleeping with someone of the opposite gender in the same room, so maybe they should reserve one or two dorms for men-only like they do with women-only dorms. Apart from that, Helsinki is a great city and I will definitely go back to CheapSleep next time.

This is a fantastic place to recover, rest and regroup during one's European tour in the nordic city of Helsinki. "CS" is a clean facility, comfortable and operated by a tremendously helpful, courteous and professional staff, particularly the cadre of Anna, Mea and Ty. These young hospitality industry workers made the experience of staying here that much more welcoming and comfortable.

Stayed in Helsinki for an evening and I wasn’t too pleased with the single room I had, the place looked in dire need of a refurbishment. My biggest issue was that the room didn’t have curtains, only shutter blinds that don’t close all the way. In the summer, the sun rises at about 3am so the room was flooded with light and was unable to sleep from this.

I’m happy with my stay, I got a bed to sleep in and the 24/7 market downstairs was really useful. Also I was booking the stay last minute so I’m happy they had 24/7 check-in and friendly personnel to great you when you arrived, even though it was late at night. Despite this I think it’s important to mention that this many beds in one room was a little uncomfortable, with 16 squeaking beds and some people snoring (haha) it wasn’t the best sleep I have gotten, the bathrooms could also have been a little cleaner. I’m still glad I stayed here, the kitchen provided what you needed to eat your food and the bed felt clean and comfortable. Location was also good.

The hostel is well situated outside the town centre but with many public transport options. Large common areas with sofas, chairs, and good kitchen spaces. Showers and toilets are clean and relatively spacious. If you are allocated a room on the second floor ( I had a single/double room) you will have a weight lifter gym on the floor directly above your head.. and big weight lifters are not known for putting down their weights with care. From morning to night you are greeted with heavy thuds and bangs that resonate through the concrete structure. Good thing that they give out free ear plugs at the reception.

The first thing I didn't like about this hostel is that it is not close to the city. Upon check in I realised how many people were in my dorm. I think it was about 18 beds. The girl in the lower bed had put all her stuff on my bed, and made a curtain out of a sheet under my bed as well, so when I came in she was audibly annoyed with me, even though I was at my assigned bed. The toilets were attached to the shower, so as I went to the bathroom, soapy water from the shower seeped in. In the morning, I went through the hostel and there were several girls who had passed out, smelling of vomit, fully clothed. There was also a guy passed out at a chair just as you walked out of the room, he easily could have come in at any time. I no longer felt safe or secure in my room. I stayed one night of the 3 I booked, and was told no refunds.

It's very cheap but not cheapish and totally worth the price. Staff is friendly and helpful, you will feel welcome and comfortable. Big common room and well equipped kitchen! It's a bit of the spot but there's a tram station right in front of it and there's a 24h supermarkt literally in the same building, so nothing to worry here. They don't allow alcoholic beverages and forces you to buy their own beer witch is pretty expensive. The breakfast is limited, but ok.
