While the Hilton Helsinki Strand is lauded for its prime location and the general cleanliness and comfort of its rooms, some guests have called out areas such as the sauna and lobby bathrooms for not meeting the same standards of cleanliness. The hotel's atmosphere and amenities, including the stylish bar and the breakfast variety, generally receive positive remarks.
However, opinions on the value proposition are mixed, with many travelers feeling underwhelmed by the executive room offerings and perturbed by unexpected charges. Service experiences also vary, with commendations for staff attentiveness contrasting with noted service inconsistencies.

Hotel's Favourite
Helsinki is a sophisticated metropolitan capital with many hotel choices. At the close of a two-week family vacation across Finland, I suspected we’d desire familiar North American comforts, like spacious rooms and decent gyms. Rather than get lost in selecting amongst myriad choices of bespoke hotels, I opted for the Hilton and did not regret it. It was everything we desired, comfortable clean spacious rooms, excellent front desk service, a good gym overlooking the channel out to the Baltic, terrific sauna and a delicious breakfast. I would also recommend the dining in the lobby restaurant, which was a pleasant surprise after a long day of touring the city. The hotel is well situated for exploring Helsinki and benefits from a nice breeze off the channel and outer bay (room windows open, an added benefit). Finally, I want to thank the staff again for accommodating our reservation mistake (our fault, not theirs). They handled it very graciously and saved us a huge headache. Once again, Hilton proved to me that it is a solidly quality hotel choice at a reasonable price. The nature of traveling often involves copious decision-making. Sometimes, choosing a dependable chain hotel, like Hilton, helps me conserve energy for making other decisions (restaurants, museums, tours, etc). In Helsinki, the Hilton Strand is a perfect home base for exploring a delightful city on the Baltic Sea. Would definitely return.

We stayed here for 3 nights on 2 rooms. We booked an executive room and had a problem with regards to the connecting room. I sent an email immediately after booking but got some misunderstanding with the staff on mu request for the connecting rooms it took awhile before the manager intervene but luckily we were able to settle everything.
We arrived early and were allowed to check-in right away. They gave as complimentary fruits and cake but my request for extra toiletries were not provided but I didn't bother to ask for it anyway.
The hotel exterior looks dated, so as the interior and rooms. The executive lounge was a bit small and was crowded at night.
There's a nearby tram station and McDonalds!
The breakfast buffet was good! They have reindeer meatballs! They also have a water/juice dispenser using the Ipad!
Lastly, for the staff of Helsinki Strand. There was one instance wherein we ask reception to get a taxi for us but they didn't mention which number or anything so we just waited. There were other guest already waiting outside and took the taxi that was supposed to be ours but then another minivan taxi arrived and it was actually their taxi and the taxi that arrived earlier was ours so we asked the taxi driver and he asked for our room and we gave our room number and he seems confused so I went to reception and they told me just grab the taxi! First of all, I don't know how things works in Finland. If they consider just grabbing the taxi polite because where I'm from that's quite rude!
Also, the hotel keeps telling me there's no hassle / stress free world! I agree, but we can mitigate it or prepare for it. We travelled thousand miles for holidays and as much as possible we want to enjoy it. Majority of the year we're having a stressful and hassle life back home because of traffic and other factors they don't have back in Finland. So I hope, they'll be more understanding and considerate of their guests!

Dear werdcam, Thank you very much for your feedback. Excellent to hear that you enjoyed the breakfast here at the Hilton Helsinki Strand. Breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day so it is good that you had a great start to the day with a good breakfast. I understand your frustration with the taxi orders getting mixed up. I hope your transportation needs were solved and you got where you needed to go safely. We hope to see you again in the future!

Stayed here for 2 nights in February.
At check in, I found the reception staff not to be very friendly or welcoming which was a theme during my stay. I wasn’t welcomed as a Hilton Honors member and at check-out I wasn’t asked if I had enjoyed my staff. Not a big issue but sometimes it’s the small things that make a big impact on the overall customer experience.
The room I had was compact but cosy; very comfortable bed with a nice bathroom. I stayed in the room alone but it may have been slightly cramped if two people had been staying there.
The location is a 10 minute walk from the train station and other key sights in Helsinki.
The Exec Lounge is very small indeed but there was a good range of food and drinks with a happy hour that typically lasted 1700-1900 for food and 1709-2000 for drinks, which I thought was good value.

Originally, we booked an Executive Room with points and money: 27.000 points and 136,50 euros. Before arrival, we got an upgrade offer to a King Suite with sea view for 255 euros extra. The standard flexible price for this suite would have been 740 euros or the member sale price of 560 euros. Now we got it for 391,50.
There are four Corner Suites with a balcony on floors 3-6 and one Presidential Suite with a balcony on the 8th floor. The Executive Lounge is located at the corner of the 7th floor.
Our suite on the 5th floor was very spacious, especially the living room with panoramic sea and city views. The bedroom was a combined standard sea view room that can be sold separately. So the master bathroom was the same size as in standard rooms and not quite up to the standards you would expect to find in a 700-euro suite. There was another smaller bathroom with a shower at the entrance of the living room.
Because of the pandemic, the Executive Lounge was closed. However, that was not a problem. The same service was provided in the breakfast section of the hotel restaurant. The evening service with drinks and snacks was excellent, better than we have had previous times in the lounge at this hotel. The breakfast service was the normal hotel breakfast which was much better than the lounge breakfast.
The staff was very friendly everywhere.

Many hotels now give an upgrade days before arrival. This hotel does not, not even on the day of arrival. As a Lifetime Diamond I was very disappointed, even irritated because I had to ask for an upgrade when I arrived at the hotel around 13:00! The employees at the front desk were not very welcoming either.
At that time there was no upgrade available. I mentioned that I had no problem with that, because I would like to have lunch in the hotel and can wait. Much to my surprise and also dismay I was told that all the restaurants in the hotel were closed……………… (It was on a Saturday, but still unbelievable for a Hilton.) So, I had to leave my luggage and had to walk back to the city center.
On my return at around 15:00 I got the keys for a junior suite on the 7th floor. The suite consists of 2 the same rooms with a connecting door. In one room a King bed, in the other a large sofa, but furthermore everything twice, coffee/tea facilities, bathroom and so on.
There is a nice pool on the upper floor. When I was there the pool was empty, so I could swim very safe all alone. The executive lounge is next to the restaurant, has a selection of drinks and many snacks to choose from during happy hour. I also had dinner in the restaurant, for Helsinki a very reasonable priced menu. The food was good and the service excellent. Breakfast had a good variety.
The location of the hotel is a short walk, 15 minutes, from the Central Station and a little more to the harbour side of the city (slightly downhill and up at return). Nearby is a large Botanical garden, worth a visit.
Although after a bad start, things worked out for the better, I don’t think I will visit this hotel again. (I had two fantastic stays in the other Helsinki Hilton Kalastajatorppa.) But, maybe I change my opinion if (Lifetime) Diamonds will be treated more according their status in the future.

This hotel provides upgrade to junior suite for our stay in honoring the Diamond level member. The member's lounge on level 5 is always stocked with food; breakfast at the hotel restaurant is satisfactory. The hotel has view of canal/ river to leads to Baltic Sea and it is two blocks away from the Metro station which has direct access to international airport (via train) or to main train station (for VR train, high speed train to St. Petersburg).

We chose the Hilton because of its location and our Honors points. It's in a really great location — 3 minutes walk to Hakaniemi Market, the metro, bus and tram stop; 3 minutes also to S-Market, a fully stocked grocery store and a few cafes; and 5 minutes to Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden — and all rooms have nice views. We chose a Seaview King room for the extra space and sofa bed, and it was spacious, clean and comfortable. We found the bed a bit firm but had a comfortable night's sleep. The bathroom was a little small but modern, clean and with a good shower.
The hotel is also no more than about 15 minutes walk to Kauppatori, Senate Square and the Esplanadi, and trams run every few minutes if you don't feel up to walking back. It's a great location for exploring Helsinki by transit or on foot, and is pleasantly quiet as it has water on two sides. We did not stay to have breakfast, but the restaurant and lounge in the atrium were very attractive. A little pricey compared to similar hotels, but a very good choice.

We always return to this hotel for a staycation as we always feel welcomed by all members of staff especially the reception staff who are always attentive.
We are always recognised as Hilton gold members and usually get a room upgrade to the next category.
The hotel is always spotlessly clean. The rooms feel fresh and the facilities such as the sauna, the gym and the pool are extremely well maintained.
You will never go hungry at breakfast time as the variety of food is extensive and delicious. The lounge during the happy hour also caters enough food should you wish not to eat a heavy meal and it’s worth sometimes paying for the executive room to guarantee access to the executive lounge.
The hotel itself is about a 10 minute walk from the main attractions and there are lots of nice walks from the hotel. You really can’t fault this hotel and we will return again in the future.

I am a Hilton diamond member and Hilton property is always my first choice wherever I go. This Hilton at Helsinki is probably one of the best Hilton I have been to. The main reason is the excellent staffs and its executive lounge. I was upgraded to executive floor prior to arrival, staffs are very helpful in making sure i have good experience here. My baggage was delayed and I have nothing. They not only provided me with some necessities but only guide me to where I can find clothes, coats and grocery. I can’t survive Helsinki cold without coats so really appreciate their help. The executive lounge was relocated to first floor due to pandemic. The breakfast at the executive lounge is one of the best, with variety of food choices with some Finnish speciality. The karjalanpiirakka is so delicious, remember to top it with egg butter. The rye bread is equally good and something not to miss. The evening social event is excellent with some drinks choices. The room I have is a king executive, it’s quite spacious with nice view towards the river. Cleanliness is top notch, kudos to housekeeping team. The location is why I chose this property and it truly within walking distance to almost all major attractions. There is good public transportation in Helsinki with bus and tram stops nearby so you can literally go anywhere from here with ease. This will be my to go hotel in Helsinki and highly recommended.

Second visit to this hotel. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk from the main railway station - which operates a regular and cheap service to the airport.
The hotel has a good view of the river. Rooms are modern and well presented. The executive lounge had moved downstairs which made it more spacious. Executive lounge food and drinks was very good so no need to eat separately, if you can manage with a limited selection of hot food, salads and cheeses etc….
Would return to the hotel.

I believe so, but it was many months ago, and as a senior citizen, my memory is not so good!
When we visited last July. there were children in the lounge with their parents.
I can’t remember the open and close times but when the pool is open yes your kid can use the pool.
