Hotel Kamp garners appreciation for its well-equipped amenities, such as the indulgent spa and complimentary breakfast, yet some guests suggest room service could see enhancements. The staff's professionalism and warmth are frequently commended, despite occasional lapses in service. Its prime location is a highlight for guests eager to discover nearby attractions and dining options.
However, some visitors question the hotel's value, pointing to steep prices that don't always align with expectations. Cleanliness and atmosphere are high points, with luxurious and well-maintained spaces, although opinions on room decor vary, with calls for modern updates.

Prime location in the city center. Very nice hotel and comfortable rooms. There are construction project outside of the hotel, so it’s not easy to pull over sometimes. But since the hotel is quite close to the main road, just a few steps away from taxi stand.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
We arrived at the hotel from the airport at around 9pm via taxi, there was no doorman like you would see at other 5 star hotels. Usually for us it’s not a big deal, but it was rain and wet. Our taxi driver had to go in and get some to help with our luggage.
Check in was quick and smooth and the lady at the front desk was cheerful and friendly.
When we got to room it was interesting that all the curtains were open and the decorative throw and pillows were still on the bed. Normally at other 5-star properties with a late check in, the room would be prepared with curtains closed and bed prepared to sleep in ect.
Did end up ordering room service the same night and the food arrived in a timely matter and was tasty. The 12 EUR service left a sour note as I was not aware of this. It was not shown on the main menu, but later found it was printed on the cover which I did not see because it was left open didn’t know there was a front cover.
As for the room, we had got upgraded to a Jr Suite which was spacious but also outdated and furniture was starting to show its age. Bathroom has zero outlets to charge shavers and electric toothbrushes ect. And as a whole just feels dated.
Bottled water is provided, but only 1 time after the first cleaning. They did do a turn down service but didn’t replenish the bottled water. Although it’s fine to drink water from the tap, feel at this price point and for 5-star property bottle water should be standard.
Booked through AMEX FHR and unfortunately this property has the most underwhelming one I’ve stayed in.

Dear arkom, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your stay at Hotel Kämp. Friendly and courteous welcome at 18:00 for our arrival in the well decorated lobby with a beautiful and high Christmas tree. On the other hand, I am amazed by the predominance of very strong smells of squeal. Odors that reverberate in the corridors of the floors. I absolutely don’t appreciate my clothes being so imbued with kitchen smells. I will discover the next day during breakfast the origin of these very strong smells: an open kitchen. The hotel architect and especially his manager should correct this strong olfactory discomfort for residents as soon as possible. Inexcusable and unacceptable embarrassment for a 5-star property. Our premium luxury room is located on the 6th floor and according to the website has a tranquil courtyard view. Failing to have a view of a quiet courtyard, as expected, we overlook the glass dome of the adjoining shopping gallery with its escalators in full sight! The room is spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. You should remember to systematically check that the maids leave shower gel tubes; shampoo.... This was not the case every day during our stay. The restaurant with its open kitchen in which breakfast is served is very dark, the floor-to-ceiling windows are located at only one end. We are welcomed by staff with both headsets and walkie-talkies located on the belt. It borders on ridiculous! It seems that the US president will “disembark” to have breakfast and that the secret service is present to ensure its protection. This panoply does not lead to any more speed in serving hot drinks; eggs ....! The staff seems rather poorly organized as well as the barista who prepares to the request espresso/capuccino....Very long wait (about 15 minutes after taking order) The self-serve juice is industrial, not really good, which is amazing for this type of hotel. Why limit yourself to presenting fruits out of season that are actually hard; not walls (melons....) and inedible? Why present in the room a silverware that has not been made for a long time and has many traces of corrosion (teapots ..)!!!. Where is the control? He's non-existent! The attached photo is not an isolated case. Every day the teapots were very dirty...
The concierge was a valuable help and provided a lot of interesting information during our stay.
Having spent more than a week, including December 31, it would have been nice to find on January 1 a little word from the management to wish “Happy New Year” with possibly a small gift (box of chocolates, bottle of champagne...). This is sorely lacking in elegance and manners.
In short, nice hotel with very significant points to improve quickly to “wake up” and actually having a general manager who should do an internship and/or refresher in international palaces to try to make the hotel he runs conform to the expectations of its residents!!!

It’s a pretty hotel inside with touches of luxury, it is currently going through a refurbishment which was an utter shock to us, Virtuoso had not made us aware of this. As a result the hotel was operating a “pop up” restaurant and bar which felt very “pop up” and not the luxury one would expect. We didn’t experience any noise as per other reviews.
The room was comfortable and bedding of quality, bathroom was well equipped with ESPA products, albeit a bit slim offerings compared to other hotels at this level.
Breakfast has the hallmarks of a mass branded hotel, chaffing dishes of greasy overcooked meats and a mass continental buffet. Which had been picked at by other guests (half eaten pastry in the basket with others). Included for hot ordering is a fried egg or and omelette. Why sell yourself as helsinki’s premiere hotel then offer a breakfast to a standard of a mass market american brand?
This hotel is great and worth the stay but it feels unchallenged in the market and as a result feels to be cutting amenities as it will still be No.1.

This was my second stay and I like the old world charm and unbeatable location very much. Rooms are definitely tired and a big renovation is in process. I heard only occasional noise, but my room faced toward the construction and I was uncomfortable with the fact there were workmen with direct views into my room. One morning I opened the drapes and a man was staring right at me. So this was not ideal. Still, the room was very clean and they seem to be trying hard to mitigate the disruption. Breakfast remains very nice in the beautiful room. This was also my second time visiting the spa and it is underwhelming. I expect to pay a premium for a hotel spa, but the technicians need to be better and the spa cleaner (used glasses collected in the waiting area) to justify the price. So despite some issues I do hope to return once the renovation is complete.

This property absolutely should not be a part of the Amex FHR program. My wife and I have stayed at many FHR properties all over the world, and this one we would rate dead last.
First, the property is under major renovation, which was not disclosed until about a week prior to our arrival. The noise in the room was annoying, but not unbearable. The noise in other parts, especially the lobby, made it difficult to even speak.
The restaurants/bar have all been combined into a "pop-up" space and is just not up to the level of a FHR property.
The included breakfast was adequate, but full of upcharges. Want a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice? 11 euro. Want a bottle of soda? 4 euro. Who has ever heard of having to pay for orange juice at an included breakfast?
The staff at FHR hotels, until this stay, have always been among the most impressive parts of being at an FHR property. Until Hotel Kamp. Our check in was very brief, possibly because of the extreme construction noise, but at no point did anyone greet us, ask us how our stay was going, or offer guidance for the local area. Not once in two days.
Lastly, there are no room upgrades. The room we booked is the exact room we got, even though the hotel was nearly empty. When I inquired to the front desk, I was told that we had been upgraded to a "premium" room. When I asked what made the room premium, because it appeared to be the room I originally booked, I was told that it was on a higher floor. Let that sink in. We've been upgraded to amazing rooms at amazing properties all over the world using FHR. At Hotel Kamp, we were instead told we were put on a higher floor as an upgrade.
Upon check-in, I checked online and saw several room classes above ours were available for booking, including a junior suite, which would have been a minor upgrade, but an upgrade nontheless.
The positive aspects of this property are location (but there are also a half dozen other hotels within a block or two) and the cleanliness of the property/rooms. The spa is nice, but very small, and can get very crowded if even a few other people are there. Definitely don't stay here just for the spa, there are way nicer spas.
In summary, I felt Hotel Kamp was a shameless tourist money grab. I would encourage Amex to remove this property from the FHR program, or at least suspend it until construction is completed.

From the minute I booked this hotel until checkout, this hotel was incredible. I contacted them to say this was a special trip and they provided me with some upgrade options and these were at a reasonable amount and I am so glad I took them up on it. We had a beautiful room and lounge access. We arrived very early and just expected to drop our bags off however our room was ready and we were able to check in. The room was very big, beautiful decor and a large well equipped bathroom with ESPA toiletries - these were always topped up. We received a lovely card with chocolates as we were celebrating our anniversary and this was a lovely touch. We had turn down service each night and even more chocolates! The lounge was very stylish with some lovely snacks and a very good selection of drinks - the staff were friendly and very efficient. It was a night chilled out atmosphere and good way to recharge after being out in the city. We had drinks at the bar every night and the staff were great at recommending drinks and they were very good quality and worth the price. The bar is very stylish and the decor is just perfect. We loved our stay and thank you to everyone Hotel Kamp that made our stay so memorable. It was perfect.

From start to finish we received impeccable service. From the lady at breakfast who showed us how to eat the traditional fare on Independence Day to the accommodating receptionist who gave us an extension to check out. Apologies, I failed to obtain their names. Housekeeping was so discrete that we never actually saw anyone clean our room! However, cleaned it certainly was. We were in room 406 and it was large, well equipped and extremely comfortable. We had a deluxe twin room with the largest single beds I’ve ever seen. There was a minibar, tea and coffee facilities as well as an iron and hair dryer. All in all, everything you would need for travelling. This is not a hotel for those who like minimalistic boutique experiences but it is old school luxury where service is key. I can thoroughly recommend it for either leisure or business.

This was to have been a special 2 night stay at this “Leading Hotel of the World” for my wife and I and we did all the research ahead of time including consulting the menu for a special dinner at Restaurant Kämp.
The hotel itself is very conveniently situated for sightseeing. The check in was smooth and straight forward and the staff at the hotel reception were efficient and charming.
Our Deluxe King room disappointingly looked over an internal courtyard but was otherwise comfortable. The room and bathroom were well appointed although I never understand why a bathroom with bath and separate shower only gets one shower mat but 4 bath towels!
The hotel is fairly modern but steeped in old world charm. Unfortunately building works are in progress and we were awoken at 8am sharp to banging, sawing, etc.
Our major disappointment though was the dinner at Restaurant Kämp as the menu had changed from the one we saw when we booked. We don’t eat seafood and 2 of the 3 starters were shellfish. The other was Ricotta which is not to everyone’s taste.
We asked the server whether it would be possible to start with a half portion of the pasta main course on their menu. She was not sure so we asked to see the Restaurant Manager. It was disappointing that even they are not empowered to make that decision. As there was not much on the menu that we fancied or could eat, we left and went to find an alternative restaurant. We felt their attitude was quite inflexible and unhelpful and certainly belies their self professed Leading Hotel of the World title as I suspect most others would have been far more helpful.
In this age when at the premium end at least, the customer is always right, we felt badly let down and we would not consider returning.

Hi FlyingFinn - I do not think so but I would humbly advise to reach out to the hotel Manager on Duty (Milla Liljanko) to see if other options are available.
I wonder if these questions and comments are coming from real people who have actually stayed there. There was no sauna in our room, nor does the property advertise such, as far as I know. But we had an incredibly spacious room, that was perfectly sound-proofed and beautifully furnished. The bathroom was fully furnished. The bed was one of the best I have slept on (and I am picky). Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful to a fault. The breakfast buffet was lavish and top notch, with friendly service to boot. This is a true 5-star hotel.
There are more places to choose from in the Helsinki area.
