If you ever miss yourself to this part of Finland, you shouln't miss this hotel. A very interesting architecture reflecting the finnish romantic era some 200 years ago. The hotel is very beautifully situated by the lake Lammasjärvi (Sheep lake ). Nice room, sauna with indoor and outdoor jakuzzi is included in the room price and you can easily hop...

Stayed in the hotel for one night, during the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival. The architecture of the hotel is truly amazing and worth even a long drive to see. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was ok, the beds comfortable, the bathroom a bit on the small size with the sink and mirror forming an awkward combination....

We stayed here in May as part of a brown bear watching break. Our room was clean and comfortable, the staff very friendly and cheerful. The restaurant food was good and reasonably priced. It is a little out of the way so good for peace and quiet. You can get a taxi into Kuhmo for a small amount and the...

A friendly welcome to an out of town location. If you want something a bit different and away from the norm, then I would recommend this hotel. Weather was excellent which made the location much better than if it had been rainy. We were on half board and both breakfast and evening meal were tasty and filling.

Kalevala Hotel is beautiful, located on the lake in the woods in eastern Finland. Very tranquil and peaceful. The staff is extremely efficient and ready to please. Breakfast was nice, and dinner presentation was pleasing, both meals enhanced by the setting of the lovely dining room overlooking the lake. Complements go to the chef for his innovative presentations of true...

The staff made us feel welcome and looked after from the minute we arrived until our departure. They were friendly and always willing to help making the stay very special indeed. Our...

We stayed here in January when temperatures dropped to -35. There were very few people in the hotel but we were very well looked after and the planning and cooking of the meals was excellent. The staff were attentive and very pleasant and apart from rather poor bathroom supplies i.e shampoo/ conditioner and body wash we had no complaints and...

We spent New Year at The Kalevala Hotel near Kuhmo, Finland. What a special place this is! We arrived late due to flight delays, but despite turning up at a few minutes before midnight, they had hot soup waiting for us - very welcome after a 5 hour wait in Helsinki. The room was fine, very comfortable; I particularly liked...

Hotel Kalevala looks beautiful in the snow lit with twinkling lights and inside, particularly the restaurant, looks just as inviting. My room was comfortable, clean and well-presented and the rest of the hotel was tidy and cared for. Staff were absolutely fantastic - so friendly and intent on giving guests the best stay possible. Activities were well planned and a...

I was there for 5 days over the New Year festivities. We flew from Heathrow to Helsinki then another flight to Kuhmo. Then about an hour and a half in a bus to the hotel. It is possible to walk into the nearby town (about 45 minutes) a taxi back cost us 15 euros. Th hotel staff are delightful -...
