The hotel is full of books and old Soviet Union nostalgia. The "Lenin bath" in the basement is beautiful, relaxed and nice. The general service level is good. The staff is very friendly and the owner is quite a character. It is like staying in the middle of a library decorated with pictures of Lenin and all sorts of propaganda...

Nice rooms and wonderful staff. And probably the only Lenin Spa and hot bath in kombination with 15,000 books. Lots of portrait of Lenin. A rare experience to enjoy the luxury that Lenin enjoyed in S:t Peterburg in the 1910th. The owner Lars Diding is probably the last Leninist in Sweden (unverified) and he made the Hotel Gastis in Varberg...

This hotel is a one off. It is full of books and quirky bits and pieces. It feels more like a cross between an oversized family home and a University residence than a hotel. The rooms are all slightly different, and ours was reminiscent of a student room. The beds were comfortable (it's set up as twins but they leave...

Good location and a cozy hotel. Provides dinner for hotel guests. Building itself is a bit cold, and it takes a while to get warm wather in the shower in the mornings. Both breakfast and dinner are excellent. The hotel provides some free parking spaces for the guests in a parking lot across the street, but they were always occupied...

We have been to Gästis many times during the years, but this was the first visit as a family. While I used to like the "room lottery" - the rooms are very different from each other - this turned into a very negative experience when we had a toddler. The room we were assigned was small (the stroller was placed...

Very friendly staff. Very quirky hotel, in a positive way. Lots of nice place to chill, sit down and read a book, newspaper etc. Most hotels in Varberg are very pricy. This hotel smaller single rooms, and rates including an evening buffet and breakfast. The food offering is very good for the price paid. The have a SPA downstair which...

Books everywhere for reading and when you leave you can choose which one you want and take with you home. Breakfast and also a big evening buffee is served, including in the price. The...

Not like any other hotel. More like a home. Everywhere are interesting things to look at; posters, pipes, antiques, not to forget the thousands of books. Even in the pool room (a gorgeous and lavish place) were books. The weather was stormy, it rained and was only 13 degrees when we visited Gästis but we enjoyed staying in the hotel,...
