I was recommended this hotel by a friend from Stockholm who had her entire wedding party staying there. The hotel is in a residential backstreet not far from the main train station. It's very calm and close to a small park. The room I had was rather small but clean and everything was working. The only problem is that there...

We stayed on the 3rd floor in the second, back courtyard. It was very quiet. Room is tiny but bed is comfortable, bathroom large enough for your luggage and washing and drying clothes. You're up a gentle hill in the upscale Norrmalm residential area, a 10-15 minute walk down Drottninggattan to Gamla Stan. Staff was helpful in offering advice and...

This was my 4th stay at August Strindberg. The ++'s are still valid: a cosy place like this is hard to find in the center of Stockholm. Staff is friendly a ever. Yet it has had better times; the rooms are getting run down, the beds uncomfortably soft, shower not properly functioning. Breakfast was unexciting as ususal. I would stay...

Supercozy hotel in central Stockholn, only one block away from Drottninggatan, one of the main shopping streets, although the location is very quiet and the garden is a small oasis! Subway and buses to all places nearby. Beautiful garden, dining room and reception. Nice rooms, very friendly staff. REcommended!

This hotel is situated 7-8 minutes away from the central station and onlyt 3 minutes away from Drottninggatan, an important shopping street. The hotel is located in a backyard and although the hotel is not posh in any wayThe rooms and bathrooms are not too big. This hotel is anyway a favourite of mine. The staff is always friendly, breakfast...

We stayed at this hotel on two separate occasions during August - for the first stay our room was in the 'original' part of the hotel across the courtyard; for the second on the ground floor in the 'new' part facing onto the street (literally: we were somewhat nonplussed by the floor to ceiling window facing directly onto the street...

The hotel was ok, but nothing special. The best of it was the breakfast, which was really nice with many different types of bread, muesli, fruit etc. It is not very central, but you can walk to the central station in about 6-7 minutes. Our room was average and a bit small (R. 106). The bathroom was flooded after taking...

We visited Stockholm in summer 2006 for 2 days as part of a trip to Scandinavia and this hotel offered an excellent, central location from which to see the city. The hotel is built around a courtyard on a quiet street only a few minutes walk from the train station. The food was nice and the the staff friendly. My...

Visited Stockholm last year in December for a few days, after Christmas. Snow, few degrees below freezing, after a days shopping and walking all about town, it was wonderful to come back to a nice fire crackling in the fireplace in the breakfast room which was also available as alounge in the evenings with free tea/coffee. 1) The room and...

We booked this hotel based on the reviews here together with the write ups in Holiday Which, Time Out and Lonely Planet. We booked through the hotel's web site and the queries I had were quickly and efficiently answered. The hotel is an easy 10 minute walk from the Arlanda Express terminal and is situated on a quiet street close...

Staying in Vasastan

Neighbourhood Profile
Vasastan is one of those neighborhoods that almost looks too good to be true. It has the winning combination of a central location, tranquility, and beautiful buildings – housing sophisticated bars and eateries – that makes this neighborhood Stockholm’s most sought-after place to live. If walking through this area makes you feel like walking through a fairy tale or picture book it’s no surprise, as it’s actually the film set of the famous Swedish children story Karlsson-on-the-Roof. No matter what season, Vasastan manages to impress in the sunshine, covered in snow and won’t even lose its charm when soaked in rain.
