This hotel is obviously an "in" place. It has a snazzy modern interior and is located across the street from a pretty park. It is within walking distance of most tourist highlights and also is very close to subway and bus stops. It's cafe is brimming with locals, the restaurant--while pricey--is very good. They include a truly great breakfast...be sure...

This is a fantastic hotel with the most comfortable bedrooms I have ever experienced. The staff are friendly without being overbearing. The hotel is situated within easy reach of the old town and harbour area and there are plenty of taxis if you need to go further afield. All in all a great place to relax after a busy day.

I was really excited to be staying here - the photos on the website looked amazing and Benny from Abba owns it - what more could I want? The outside of the hotel is imposing and when I entered the lobby, it was gorgeous: sumptuous reds and funky lamps. But that is where the fun ended. The rooms are TINY...

One of the difficulties in selecting one hotel at the top of the Tripadvisor list is that it is difficult to write an original review. This is the case for Hotel Rival. I can only say that we had a delightful stay at the hotel in late June for the mid-summer celebrations and that everything mentioned in the other reviews...

Enjoyed out first visit to Stockholm, and found the hotel staff to be very friendly and obliging, However the rooms were a little disappointing spacewise. Comfortable beds without a doubt, but very limited space for luggage and although a short trip, we struggle to unpack!. The quirkly door system also took some getting used to - opening outwards (due to...

This hotel gets very good reviews on tripadvisor. Initially only a few days into our stay I didn't understand why, but towards the end of our ten day stay, I would wholeheartedly recommend this lovely hotel. Set in a very trendy but quiet neighborhood of Stockholm ( the fictional hero of the popular Steig Larsson series was situated only a...

Stayed here for five nights during midsummer. Upsides: Nice staff, clean, cool rooms, great location. Everyone was friendly and very helpful. Downside: not much of a scene in the hotel itself. Much sleepier than expected. Rooms were smaller than I expected too. Cool spot, but not as much energy as I hoped.

After reading all the positive reviews we just had to try out Hotel Rival, and must admit that this was probably one of my best hotel stays ever. Our Deluxe room was really comfy and facing Mariatorget. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast and brunch buffet amazingly good! Location perfect if you want to explore the old town and the hip...

The room is quite clean but small with only one small drawer and NO cupboard space other than the closet. Our friends were luckily upgraded at no additional cost so request a larger room if possible. With that said it is a quiet hotel if you face the courtyard. THe rooms are modern and the bathroom and shower modern and...

There are some beautiful people in Stockholm and I think most of them work here! Charming and helpful too. The room was comfortable and the tea making/computer area on the 4th floor a nice touch. There is a cafe/bakery attached to the hotel which is excellent. We didn't eat at the restaurant for breakfast or dinner so I can't comment...

Staying in Mariatorget

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariatorget
This rather quiet neighborhood revolves around a postcard-like park with a dramatic fountain in its center and is definitely one of Stockholm’s showcase neighborhoods. Mariatorget, a central residential area, is the best Stockholm has to offer when it comes to juxtaposing architectural masterpieces with sophisticated art galleries, coffee shops and bars. Stockholmers love to spend their weekends in the park or one of the nearby coffee shops, so come to Mariatorget to meet the locals. The northern part of Mariatorget boasts historic buildings, beautiful cobblestone streets, and one of Stockholm’s best observation decks, Monteliusvägen, from where you can see an amazing view of the city hall and Stockholm’s old town.
