Recently stayed in the Rival Hotel and loved it. The staff go out of their way to be helpful and it was a great location for seeing Stockholm. Rooms were very comfortable, clean and cosy. Nice touch having cds and dvds in the room. Breakfast was good and anything could be ordered although our waitress had a little trouble with...

Nice quirky hotel within walking distance from the city center. It is clean, tidy and a little different with a good selection of free film for you to high for the eve. the bar tender also knows his drinks and you'll need to know what you want.

We stayed two nights over a weekend. The hotel is very central and just a few stops on the tram from the main train station where the airport express arrives into. The city was covered in snow and the square it faces provides a great view. It was a Friday night but arriving to the hotel you instantly feel a...

We stayed at the Rival for four nights in mid-Feb. The hotel is in a great location, with nice European street architecture and layout. It is a short walk to Gamla Stan (or the Slussen ferry for going to Djurgarden). The hotel may not be much to look at outside but is has a great bar and restaurant, both being...

We stayed for 4 nights whilst I attended a conference. The hotel is off a gorgeous square and close to public transport. It's an easy walk to the old part of the city (Palaces etc). We chose suite 704 which is great! The service is average as is the Hotel restaurant. Breakfast is better than dinner but both are ok.There...

Wonderful relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Great service, staff and excellent rooms and facilities. Very good breakfast choices available, cafe, bars, cinema/theatre and restaurant too. The only thing that could be improved is ease of booking. I will be back!

This is seriously good and currently my default hotel in Stockholm. A great location in Soder on Maria Square in a charismatic ex cinema – the building clearly has a character and life of its own - with easy transit links all over the city. You are made to feel welcome and comfortable – but not over-fussed - immediately you...

First time to Stockholm and stay at Hotel Rival. Staff were great and helpful at all times. The hotel is arty in its own right - and the rooms were spacious and clean! Breakfast buffet was amazing - great selection with an ala carte menu as well available! Definitely will stay there again!

I ve been to Stockholm many times and Rival is a reason for this. I love everything regarding this hotel. The location, the politeness of the staff, the bar on the ground floor, the Abba cd's in the room, the room itself etc. i highly recommend this hotel.

Great hotel - excellent spacious room with beautiful courtyard view over to old church tower. Location is perfect - stones through from the Metro (the easiest to use ion the world - only 3 lines) and staggering distance from some great bars and pubs. Manage to miss breakfast every morning (but I was on holiday) had an evening meal (I...

Staying in Mariatorget

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariatorget
This rather quiet neighborhood revolves around a postcard-like park with a dramatic fountain in its center and is definitely one of Stockholm’s showcase neighborhoods. Mariatorget, a central residential area, is the best Stockholm has to offer when it comes to juxtaposing architectural masterpieces with sophisticated art galleries, coffee shops and bars. Stockholmers love to spend their weekends in the park or one of the nearby coffee shops, so come to Mariatorget to meet the locals. The northern part of Mariatorget boasts historic buildings, beautiful cobblestone streets, and one of Stockholm’s best observation decks, Monteliusvägen, from where you can see an amazing view of the city hall and Stockholm’s old town.
