We stayed at this hotel for one night earlier this month (Jan '12). The hotel room was on the first floor, it was lovely, clean and spacious with en-suite facilities. The hotel serves a good selection of fresh food for breakfast including fruit, cereals and various cold meats. Tea, coffee, water, fruit and biscuits are avaliable free of charge from early afternoon,...

Great little hotel. It’s actually a very old building with plenty of charm. The rooms are quite basic but with character. The 3rd floor rooms have communal bathrooms and toilets. These rooms are, of course, cheaper (nothing is very cheap in Sweden) The staff are super friendly and helpful Location is central, the breakfast is good but they don’t have...

This old brewery is now a budget hotel within walking distance (15 minutes) from Gamla Stan, but beware of some steep climbs to reach this part of the city. I stayed here for 3 nights. My room on the 3rd floor had shared facilities and was not very big but adequate. The whole place is very clean. There are no...

I stayed here with a friend while visiting Stockholm for the weekend. We opted for a slightly cheaper, 'shared facilities' room, only because that was all that was left when booking. The room it self was spacious and comfortable with two separate beds. We didn't mind the shared aspect, there were several single toilets as well as a shower area...

Three of us stayed for 5 nights, sharing a small room and out of the room bathroom facilities. I was ready to feel uncomfortable but it was just fine. In US we are a bit spoiled but really this place is very good deal in incredibly expensive city of Stockholm. Recommended for easy going people who spend most of their...

We arrived late at night and had an unfortunate experience with a cab driver who was ripping us off. I stumbled into the hotel disoriented from a long flight and agitated about this confrontation and begged the night desk clerk to help us negotiate a reasonable resolution. He immediately came out to the street and argued eloquently with the driver...

Had the best stay we have probably ever had - we arrived at 7 am but got our room right away, thanks to the nice receptionist! The room was comfy and clean. We had to leave early too (6 am) and spent a fun hour drinking coffee at the lobby bar :D Definitely gonna come again if we're visiting Stockholm!

I had a wonderful time in Stockholm and highly recommend the Columbus Hotell based on it's location, friendly staff and reasonable price (for one of the most expensive places I have ever visited). The only issues would be that we stayed on third floor with a shared bath in a smaller room. This was just fine for us and everything...

The right solution was this hotel ... best value for price and quality. Continental Breakfast various and copious. The room essential but clean....

Very nice budget hotel. Big room, clean - we lived 3 persons in a room with toilets/showers across the hall. Plenty of space although we had shopping bags all over. No elevator. No noise from the street although you can hear the big clock at Katarina Church at 7 on Sunday morning. Very good, big breakfast. The hotel is close...

Staying in SoFo & Medborgarplatsen

Neighbourhood Profile
SoFo & Medborgarplatsen
Throughout the last decades these neighborhoods transformed from a rather quiet residential area into the birthplace of Swedish hipsterism and became Sweden’s main hub for new fashion labels, independent coffee shops and innovative gastropub concepts. Despite their extreme transformation, SoFo (South of Folkungagatan) & Medborgarplatsen managed to hold on to their residential charm and quietness and became one of the most sought-after places to live among young people in Stockholm. This neighborhood is also home to Sweden’s highest student hall, Skrapan, which used to be the head office of the tax authorities and now combines a mix of student hall and shopping mall with a bar on top.
