This is a large fairly modern hotel that is centrally located, but in a quiet place (Kungsholmen). The hotel is business-like and not big on cosieness (is there such a word?) or typical Swedish things. Plenty of eateries in the vicinity as well as at the hotel. Bar was lively, with sports bar next door. City Hall and Central Railway...

We stayed there last September. The only thing which is nice in that hotel is the lobby area. Other then that, it is rubbish for the price you pay. Everything in the room was made of plastic, the toilet, the bathtub, the sink etc. It looks like somekind of refugee camp. One might as well stay at an ETAP HOTEL....

This is a hotel in a very nice area of Stockholm. Several good restaurants in the area. Great communications, the subway entrance is right on the corner of the hotel. Excellent! Some of the main sightseeing areas are within walking distance, and all of them can be reached easily with public transport. The hotel staff was very nice and polite,...

Stayed here on a weekend business trip. The location is very convenient - just a short walk from the central train station and Arlanda Express, and in a neighborhood that seems to have a lot of nice little restaurants and cafes. I arrived around 9 pm on a Friday, and the whole lobby/bar/restaurant area seemed to be full of people,...

We stayed at the First Amaranten for a Bruce Springsteen concert on a weekend in May 2013. The hotel is large and not very modern but rooms are spruced up and very comfy. The duvets in particular were heavenly (hence the name, Nordic, hehe). Breakfast was a bit hectic as the hotel is large and most of the rooms were...

Overall a good hotel. Nice lively bar and good breakfast. Stayed 2 nights on business trip. Kept awake by road cleaners from 11 to 12.30 and by an event. Lots of shouting in street in front of hotel. Receptionist recommended the courtyard rooms for future stays... would stay again but not in room at front.

The best thing about this hotel is the proximity to the train station, which is just round the corner, the worst thing, it has some of the oldest rooms i've seen... The first night i arrived, they had given away my room to someone else, despite having confirmed reservations, although they put me up in another hotel for the night,...

Location is great. Close to shopping and centrum station. Great price, breakfast was included. It got really busy about 8, go early or later to be able to sit down! Room was comfortable. Pillows are very small, but there were plenty of them. The downside?? The phone was not working, the front desk insisted that we were not in our...

Stockholm unfortunately has a bad reputation for hotels or I should say value for money. Keeping that in mind, the hotel was nice and what a great location if you are traveling on business or need to use the public transportation, which by the way is the simplest I've ever experienced. The staff is friendly and quite efficient - lacking...

I have stayed here several times on business and pleasure. The hotel is within 5 minutes walk of the Central station and is very modern and well equipped. The bedrooms are a little on the small side but that is not uncommon for Sweden. Free wi-fi helps to entertain you/enable you to do work.

Staying in Kungsholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Kungsholmen
Kungsholmen is one of the largest islands in central Stockholm and one of the most popular places to live. Its most famous attraction is Stockholm’s City Hall, which stands out with its monumental architecture and is one of the most photographed buildings in Sweden. Kungsholmen has its own little city center and shopping mall, its own beach and a lovely pedestrian area next to the water, which charms both locals and visitors with beautiful little cafés, restaurants and of course an awesome view. This neighborhood is perfect for a relaxed stroll followed by some coffee on a Sunday afternoon.

Clarion Hotel Amaranten is located on Kungsholmen in central Stockholm. With only 700 meters from Stockholm's city center and 10 minutes walk to Central Station, the hotel is easily accessible and close to most attractions in Stockholm.Kungsholmen has a great variety of restaurants and has a charming nightlife, ranging from casual outdoor cafes to nightclubs. Near the hotel is also the City Hall and Town Hall, two of Stockholm's most famous silhouettes. At the hotel, we offer a gym, sauna and spa (the indoor pool is temporarily closed for renovations). If you book well in advance is also a personal trainer available. The hotel restaurant Kitchen & Table serves a combination of the best flavors of multicultural Manhattan with local ingredients from the region around one of Stockholm's most beautiful islands -Kungsholmen.
