We stayed in a room overlooking the water, with the xmas tree all lit up, etc, very nice. Staff all spoke excellent English, breakfast was very good and well presented. The only criticism was that we were unable to control the heating in the room.

Loved this hotel. We had a room facing the water, and it was gorgeous. We loved the location on Gamla Stan. The beds were comfortable, the tv had a variety of channels (in english too!), and it was always cleaned well. We stayed in a standard room. I will say that the walls are thin, and we heard the music...

We hooked up with our Australian friends here in gorgeous Stockholm. Lovely boutique hotel overlooking the river. Reception area small, staff very efficient and all English speaking which is always a help. Bar area adequate. Restaurant menu very limited in food choices, but good value. We stayed in a medium size room, spotlessly clean with coffee making facilities, t.v etc....

we stayed in larger room on 1st flor with big windows overlooking to the embarkment - the view is nothing special, but the room itself is bigger and more convinient then a standard room. Reception desk is very helpful, but cleaning service is average - never refilled bottled water in the room during our 3 days stay. The main attraction...

This hotel has a nice boutique feel to it in the reception, bar area and restaurant but is let down by the small and old fashioned rooms. The rooms need a complete refurb and they also need to pay more attention to the clients requirements - you dont even get free tea or coffee in the room. I wouldnt recommend...

Rooms are small and clean. You literaly walk off street into reception .Its a small hotel part of a larger group. Stockholm is expensive and prices here are competitive given its location overlooking the . There is a small restaurant and bar but you have the entire old town minutes away to explore. The WiFi is free. Be warned don't...

Deluxe room-not! First room half lights didn't work. Since I was there for work and reading documents it wasn't acceptable. The front desk did me a "favor" and moved me to another "deluxe" room of the same class that I'd paid for-what was the favor? Puny lights the norm but at least they worked. Next day no heat as the...

Hotel has a great location on Gamla Stan, the historic and scenic island in Stockholm. The Royal Palace is right around the corner and other major sights are within walking distance. The rooms with a water view are definitely worth the price. The buffet breakfast was excellent. We stayed three nights and definitely enjoyed our stay in Stockholm as well...

This hotel is located in the most beautiful part of Stockholm. A truly stunning part of the old town and close enough to walk to most essential parts like central station, town centre etc. Great bars and restaurants just round the corner too. Great staff and service, good inhouse restaurant. innovatively decorated, this hotel is absolutely not one of the...

First Reisen Hotel is located right on the edge of the old city of Gamla Stan and as such is brilliantly located. From the moment we walked in the door, we knew our stay would be great. The decor, staff and general "feel" of the hotel was very welcoming. The rooms are clean and well appointed, the bar, dining and...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
