What a fabulous way to spend a four night city break. The hotel has beautiful views and is in a perfect location to explore Stockholm. We stayed for four nights during august 2013. The cabins are , as expected, on the small side. This didnt cause us any problems at all. The breakfast was lovely, with plenty of choice of...

We enjoyed a nice meal in the restaurant, The sunset view over the city was amazing. We also moved to the dock to enjoy the breeze. We had a visit of the different rooms they offer. it is a bit pricey but would be a fun experience. ;) The staff is lovely. I think Tobby was the first to welcome...

This is my second visit within a year. The Malardrottningen is wonderful for a visit to Stockholm due to its convenient location, being very close to Gamla Stan. I love it as it is ideal for single travellers, being compact, quiet and neatly laid out. I wouldn't say it is suitable for everyone, certainly not for young children due to...

The rooms were clean and the boat was really neat with all the places to relax and the ability to sit up top with a great view. Breakfasts were good. Lots of choices. It was also centrally located. The rooms though were really small. Most have bunkbeds. There was barely enough room to pass each other.

Malardrottningen was a fine choice for our 1 night pre-cruise stay in Stockholm. I may or may not be as good for you. 1. the location is excellent. 2. the price is quite good in an expensive city. 3. I's a BOAT. We took the Arlanda Express train from ARN to central station in Stockholm. It was quick and easy....

Excellent central location (in the heart of the Old Town) and service. Guest friendly stuff. Reasonable price. The room was small but it was expectable. And as we were traveling it was interesting to spent the night at the yacht.

We stayed at the Malardrottningen Hotel in Stockholm for 4 nights and loved it. The hotel is in a great location, very close to the old town (Gamla Stan), Royal Palace and other sights. We stayed in a "First Officer's Cabin" which meant we had a double bed, which was great. Being a converted ship means the rooms are small,...

I was debating between giving it a 3 or a 4 and in the end chose a 4 based on location, friendliness of staff and uniqueness, but there are some things you should keep in mind with this hotel. First, when we were there, it was hot in Sweden and we couldn't open the windows (our room was upstairs port...

The hotel is a floating one, comprising the yacht of an American heiress from the first half of the twentieth century. It is anchored in a beautiful and historic part of old Stockholm, affording wonderful views of the harbor. It is an easy 15 minute walk from Stockholm Central train station, and a similar walk from the Royal Palace in...

This is not a ***** luxury hotel as such, but if you are looking for a rather unique place full of character and not yet another chain hotel then this is a fine choice. And price was rather low, too! Review based on a one night stay in July (background of spending 80+ nights per year in different hotels around...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
