The location of this hotel is fabulous- the winding streets of the old town that surround it are populated with great restaurants, coffee shops, music venues and small shops. The rooms are not large but charming and clean. The breakfast was delicious and there were many vegan alternatives. The staff were friendly and efficient. Overall, a wonderful quaint stay.

The hotel is nicely situated in Stockholms old town. The rooms are small but nicely decorated. We had a room facing the street which was quite noisy at time - but that's to be expected if you stay in Gamla Stan.

We have just checked in a couple of hours ago and we want to check out. OMG the rooms are super tiny without space for one suitcase let alone two which okay being in a super old hotel maybe maybe you tolerate even with a double sized bed that should be queen..... but.... to have to pay for a cup...

Small and understated traditional hotel. Situated in a side street very close to the metro station and ferries, plus an easy walk to other areas of the city. It has no bar or restaurant but has a small area serving snacks and coffee in reception to purchase. The breakfast served on the ground floor is historic. Vast choice of breads,...

We stayed in a standard room in early December 2016 and couldn't fault the room. Comfortable bed, great bathroom/shower, and an amazing breakfast (both cold and hot). For me the 2 most important aspects of a "great hotel stay" is the quality of the (shower) and the the hot breakfast and these were excellent. It is right in the centre...

This is a 4-star hotel unlike others in the Scandic chain, as it has a long history....... The hotel character made up for any niggles we might have had as regards access, sophistication, etc., and the staff service was irreproachable from the moment we arrived to the unholy hour (5.45am) on a Sunday of our departure by taxi. The room...

One of the best place to feel the history, tectonically drifted waterways, town planning, lifestyle, clean and solid building with alleys connected to the waterfront, eateries, and many more attractions you will be tired off walking. We had witnessed nice police band also with amazing colors and very smart and beautifully decorated police personnel. Well connected through Bus and Tramways...

You can't beat the location of this hotel and when you combine it with the great service, it's a certain won for anyone wishing to stay here. Keep in mind that this is not a place for someone in need of pampering but for someone wishing to have a room that'll allow you to enjoy the city. I will absolutely...

For 1400 SEK inclusive a 20% discount you get a dark 13 m2 room a bit worm and with no bed lamps - all abit like the usual 2-Star hotels in Paris. Small can be good but then it has to be well designed and functional. Not worth the money. It is more a hostel than a hotel.

Stayed here for one night on a business trip. Very central location, walking distance to old town and to many bars and restaurants. Unusually taxi drivers don't seem to know its location. Stayed at a number of Scandic hotels in Stockholm - this one is quite different as it has a lot more character. Bedroom was quaint rather than the...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
