this is an excellent hotel. Each room is individual in style and there are lots of maritime memorabilia. In addition there was a surprise nightcap each day on the bedside table. This helped us sleep soundly. Situated in the heart of Gamla Stan it is in easy reach of restaurants and cafes if you want to eat out and of...

Fist of all: the hotel is easy to get to from Arlanda airport and has a superb location for almost any tourist attraction in the Stockholm area, the most popular ones are within walking distance from the hotel. Victory hotel ( part of the collectors hotels) has a maritime design: After years of research, each room was given a name...

The hotel is situated in the old city close to several of the most interesting places to visit The staff are friendly and polite. The room was small but had everything including an armchair large enough to actually use. The nightly decanter of port is a delightful touch. The bed and bedding were comfortable. The furnishings were unusual. The only...

We recently spent 2 nights at the Victory Hotel. The location could not have been better. The rooms were nice and clean and a decent size for an older building. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was a little small, especially the shower. The staff was extremely helpful. The breakfast was excellent. We had dinner at the restaurant in...

I was having trouble figuring out where I wanted to stay in Stockholm and I am glad I chose the Victory. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The nautical décor was not really my taste but our bathroom was adorable with multi colored tile and a great shower. The location of the hotel was excellent. The...

I stayed in this hotel on business many times 20-25 years ago and returned this year with my wife. It is still as charming as ever. Perfect location for the narrow cobbled streets of the Old Town, and there are numerous restaurants and bars within a few minutes walking distance. The hotel is stuffed full of everything nautical, (sailing ships...

One of the best hotels I have stayed at in a long time. The location is in the Old City (Gamla Stan) close to many of the sites that we wanted to visit. And the hotel staff is friendly and always helpful. You won't regret staying here.

Such a pleasant stay at the Victory Hotel! We arrived very early (10 am), and were greeted by Valentin at the front desk. Although our room was not ready, he was happy to store our luggage for us, and provided recommendations, maps, etc. This hotel has an elevator, so we had no problem taking our luggage to our 4th floor...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Victory Hotel is a welcoming and exclusive hotel with a personal atmosphere in a perfect location in Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s charming Old Town. The fact is that the hotel is a tourist attraction in itself. It contains a unique, private collection of maritime antiques, passionately selected by the collector himself, the hotel's founder Gunnar Bengtsson. There are three restaurants and one bar in the hotel; Djuret (The Whole Beast), Omakase, The Burgundy and The Comfortable Bar Tweed. The breakfast has a selection of cold cuts and hot items and is served in the downstairs dining room, which also has the remnants of a defence tower from the medival city wall on display. The hotel serves complimentary coffe and tea to all their guests and to unwind you can use the Sauna and Relax area exclusively, and free of charge. ... more   less
