I recommend this hotel. It is a hotel based on a naval theme located in Gamla Stan. It has easy access to museums, restaurants, shopping, and sights. My wife and I stayed here on the tail end of a trip to Stockholm and Copenhagen. We originally had a deluxe room but the second night I ungraded to their largest suite....

This hotel is a must stay kind of place. It is uniquely decorated with the owners extensive and interesting nautical collectibles. Fascinating historical pieces abound in the lobby, on the staircases and even in the rooms. You are greeted with port and chocolates in your room on the first evening. The front desk is run by the most charming and...

I highly recommend this hotel. It is in a perfect location to explore Old Town Stockholm (Gamla Stan). It is literally within steps to most everything you would want to see or do in Gamla Stan. In fact, we could stop by very easily throughout the day to rest, use the wifi, etc., so the location really is fantastic. The...

We wanted a hotel with character and we definitely found it! Great service, great location, and good rate. Very nice breakfast in the basement, though somewhat dark. Perfect location for exploring Stockholm and enjoying the central area.

A quirky hotel based on a naval theme. The central location in Gamla Stan was good for access to restaurants, museums and walks. Rooms are small, but ours was well furnished, nice and warm, with good hanging space and a big bathroom with double sinks and walk-in shower. Staff were helpful and the linked in bars and restaurant vet good...

This place is just awesome. It is situated right in the middle of old town and as such is very close to all the major attractions. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. Given its great location, we were able to pop in and out of the hotel throughout the day. Do yourself a huge favour and book this...

Unique hotel with most helpful staff. Rooms uniquely decorated in line with maritime themed collection. Clean and comfortable. Good breakfast selection in a setting with historic wall from original tower visible. The hotel also has a comfortable wine bar with an incredible selection of wines, beers and spirits. Loads of quirky touches. Loved it.

Excellent! there are only few hotels like this one. Feel like home. I had a small room but it was lovely, very comfortable and homely. Breakfast is something special - local food, nothing similar to standard hotel's breakfast. Small patio is the best place to spend an hour in the evening with a glass of wine. If you get there...

We stayed at the Victory Hotel from 3 Jan 2017 for 3 nights. We were a party of 5 adults staying in 3 rooms. The hotel situation in Gamla Stan is excellent and it was very easy to get to the local attractions (Nobel Museum, Royal Palace and the Old Town) plus the other islands to visit the Modern Art...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Victory Hotel is a welcoming and exclusive hotel with a personal atmosphere in a perfect location in Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s charming Old Town. The fact is that the hotel is a tourist attraction in itself. It contains a unique, private collection of maritime antiques, passionately selected by the collector himself, the hotel's founder Gunnar Bengtsson. There are three restaurants and one bar in the hotel; Djuret (The Whole Beast), Omakase, The Burgundy and The Comfortable Bar Tweed. The breakfast has a selection of cold cuts and hot items and is served in the downstairs dining room, which also has the remnants of a defence tower from the medival city wall on display. The hotel serves complimentary coffe and tea to all their guests and to unwind you can use the Sauna and Relax area exclusively, and free of charge. ... more   less
