This is a old hotel in the middle of the old city in Stockholm. It's in the same building as my favorite bar the Tweed and a fabulous restaurant "Djuret". The hotel is imitating the atmosphere of an old ship, and for some strange reason I loved it. Go, and I guarantee that you will love it. It of course...

It's quirky and fun. You feel like you are on a cruise ship and the room had port and chocolate for us to enjoy!! The sauna was great and that is not a hot tub, it's a cooking tub that is a great break from the sauna. We really enjoyed ourselves!

We had a comfortable deluxe double at SEK 2.746 per night including a normal buffet breakfast. Price is quite high and does not reflect the standard of the room or the hotel. Apart from breakfast, the bars, restaurant and room service do not open until 5 PM. Nothing is sold in the reception, no mini-bar in the room and no...

My friend and I stayed at Victory Hotel after reading all its positive reviews and discovering that it was located in picturesque Galma Stan. We were so happy with our experience! The staff was welcoming and helpful, our rooms were spacious and comfortable, breakfast was delicious, and the free sauna was a great experience. We would readily recommend this hotel...

We spent 2 nights in this quirky ship memorabilia " museum" -very comfortable hotel. We could have stayed longer. Friendly staff, good restaurant on site, centrally located for exploring. Definitely will come back in summer for a longer stay.

This hotel is a treat for the eyes, with it's olde worlde nautical theme, tastefully decorated with historical maritime artfefacts and cosy interior. The staff were wonderful and helpful, and I must make special mention of Peter, who was absolutely charming and witty. Staff couldn't help us enough - thank you so much everyone :) Our room was warm with...

Of course there are the known positives – it is a museum-like cosy and exceptionally clean hotel in a perfect location with the most comfortable pillows I have ever slept on in any hotel. But there are major negatives as well. As pointed out by others, the smaller rooms are really, really small and pretty dark, with the sloping ceilings...

We loved this location for walking to everything we planned to see! We also enjoyed eating at the restaurants within the hotel building. Our room was very comfortable and the shower tiles were beautiful.

This hotel is perfectly situated in the oldest quarter of Stockholm and is surrounded by old cobbled "vehicle restricted" streets, good quality (not cheap) restaurants and other visitor attractions. The attic rooms are perfectly adequate and in fact rather nice and unusual with sloping ceilings and small windows but are best avoided if you suffer from claustrophobia. The other rooms...

Having stayed here three previous years and at the lord nelson and lady Hamilton I prefer the victory due to it close proximity to the train and bus network which is also fantastic. The hotel is tagged by friendly, very helpful and informative staff nothing is ever too much. The rooms are amazing it is like staring in a museum...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Victory Hotel is a welcoming and exclusive hotel with a personal atmosphere in a perfect location in Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s charming Old Town. The fact is that the hotel is a tourist attraction in itself. It contains a unique, private collection of maritime antiques, passionately selected by the collector himself, the hotel's founder Gunnar Bengtsson. There are three restaurants and one bar in the hotel; Djuret (The Whole Beast), Omakase, The Burgundy and The Comfortable Bar Tweed. The breakfast has a selection of cold cuts and hot items and is served in the downstairs dining room, which also has the remnants of a defence tower from the medival city wall on display. The hotel serves complimentary coffe and tea to all their guests and to unwind you can use the Sauna and Relax area exclusively, and free of charge. ... more   less
