Hotel is located on a highway service centre with a petrol station, Burger King and a restaurant. Was happy with my selection. One improvement would be to provide a bar fridge in the rooms. The guy at reception / restaurant looks like darts player Michael van Gerwen. We arrived at 12pm where we had to wait about 90 minutes for our room. Positives: spacious rooms, free parking, complimentary buffet breakfast at the restaurant under the rooms was good, although there were a few flies around, lots of shops within walking distance - Ikea has hot dogs and ice creams for SEK5 (A$0.80), we also used the car charging station at Ikea to charge our hybrid car for free.

The first impression is the weird combination of hotel, restaurant, convenience store, gas station, and Burger King. Once you get past that, the hotel itself was okay. It is a bit older, but the room was comfortable (and basic). There is no air conditioning but luckily, it was not too hot or humid when we stayed. The breakfast was good, with a wide variety of food. The biggest drawback is the location of the hotel. It is located away from the centre with not much around except an Ikea. It is only practical to stay here if you have a car.

Stayed here for a quick overnight stop. I must say it was a very pleasant stay as well as an authentic Swedish experience in what would otherwise be classified as a motel in the US. Rooms were spacious and clean, restaurant was very reasonable and set dinners come with a complimentary salad bar. Right next to a large IKEA and also walking distance to the supermarket and a few other large shops. Free parking just outside the hotel. We were very satisfied with our stay.

Ok for a nights stop over. Clean rooms nice service but nothing flash. On top of a burger King and part of a service station stop next to Ikea on the E22. Not as noisy as I feared though despite the location.

Stayed in this hotel when travelling in business matters nearby. Room was quite small but ok for one night stay. Wifi connection was bad in room, and could be better also in downstairs/restaurant. Food in restaurant was too heavy for my taste, breakfast ok. Ikea store located in next building if you like that kind of shopping. All the staff were nice and helpful.

It was the only hotel available so we had not much choice. Service is ok, but it is a combination of Burger King and road restaurant that offers rooms. If you book this hotel, make sure you have transport into Kalmar - it's too far to walk.

Well located: close to the highway.... and some meters away from Ikea!! It takes you about 10 minutes to reach wither the city center or the bridge to Oland, and you can park for free: so it's a good choice for car drivers. The carpet is not very clean, but the rest of the hotel looks good. Good breakfast except for the sweets, almost non-existing unless you pay an extra. WiFi connection is not really good: I couldn't log in with my laptop, and it kept on fading at the room.

Huge mistake! The positives: Personnel is very nice and helpful. That's it. From the moment you walk in you feel as is the place is dirty... Looks dirty, smells dirty and if you look down it is just dirty. We got a room that faces south and once we opened it was an oven! Hot is an understatement, I went down hoping... Expecting them to have fans ( no AC ) because I thought, if they have such a hot room they MUST have something to move air around... Well, no! So dirty with unbearably hot rooms. Would never do this place again...

My husband and I stayed in Kalmar to see Öland between 26th to 28th of June. This is what we paid 130 dollars/night i.e about 900 SEK/night for Very small and unclean rooms, specially the bathroom. On the first morning one of the staff just opened the door and walked into the room while we were in bed...we screamed close the door! Instead She says "do you need something", in swedish... They doubled charged us so we had to call to get our money back. Strong food smell in the so called "lobby" all the time. In their restaurant plates, cups, forks/spoons everything smell as though the washer they used did not clean properly. The room next to us smoked in a non smoking room and the smoke came into our room through the window. we had to call the "front desk" several times AND go to the front desk in order for them to send someone to tell the guy not to smoke in a non smoking motel and room. Will not come back, of course.

Ok if you just need somewhere to stay the night. Shabby rooms with windows to the lorry park. Ok breakfast. Pluses: free parking, quick connection to the city centre and airport. Knew Rasta is a budget hotel, so ok choice.
