We arrived and made very welcome on signing in. the room was kept clean throughout and bed linen changed often we had 11 nights there and illias and his family work very hard to make sure holidaymakers enjoy themselves. They booked tables for us at the restaurants near the castle and provided transport. I was very surprised to see that jet2 have not put the hotel in their brochure for next summer..
We look forward to seeing you all again.
Bill & Chris.

After starting our holiday with a bit of island hopping which we didn’t expect. We arrived at midnight to be greeted by perri who quickly settled us into our room and pointed in the direction of the tavern across the road for a very late meal. From then on in iLlias made us feel so welcome, hired bikes for us took us up to the castle on our second night for a fantastic meal and then collected us.nothing was to much trouble lovely pool and scenery, and a brilliant location to travel around the island
The breakfast was just what you wanted, and the rooms were cleaned every day
illias we really loved your warmth and thoughtfulness would love to return again

I cannot rate this Hotel highly enough. Being a seasoned traveller to many Greek Islands and having travelled extensively for business I would say that it is one of cleanest and most accommodating hotels I have ever stayed in!
The owners and staff are extremely accommodating and friendly any requests are received with courtesy and dealt with efficiently and positively. Breakfast times are unusually extended to accommodate all needs and the choices whilst typically Greek (and that is where you are!) do provide a range to suit all tastes, including vegetarian and vegan. More than you can say for most of the hotels home or abroad. Poolside bar offers a range drinks and snacks at very reasonable prices. Grandma’s Moussaka is outstanding! The rooms are more than adequate, very comfortable with all you need for a holiday and are cleaned thoroughly and regularly. Linen is changed more often than you would reasonably expect! The standard of the pool maintenance is the best I have ever encountered.
It’s a great location from which to explore, yes you may want to hire a car but there is a good bus service to lots of places (ridiculously cheap!) and lots of excursions at very reasonable prices to choose from
I would have no hesitation in going back there. It was a wonderful holiday.
Ignore the negative reviews if you want to experience true Greek hospitality on a beautiful Island this is the place to go.

We had such a lovely stay at this hotel. The owner Illias is a very kind, courteous man who will guide you through the area, restaurants, car hire etc effortlessly.
The rooms are very clean, and Covid precautions are in place to a good standard.
We booked this hotel after reading all the good reviews and they were spot on. It really does deserve more than two stars.
Two excellent restaurants at the castle, The Olive Lounge was our favourite and very reasonable. We hired a car which Illias organised and visited a lot of the island but Mrytos beach was our favourite, just stunning.
If you like a peaceful, clean hotel with owners who really care about their customers, send him a email he gets back to you very quickly you will not regret book ing hotel.

We arrived to friendly welcome at the hotel & directed to our room. We had a clean double room overlooking the garden/pool area. Fantastic pool area with bar & light meals are available during the day. The hotel is a family run business and you feel part of the family while staying. The area surrounding the hotel has limited restaurants nearby but if you hire a car this enables you to get about with ease. The hotel can assist you with the hire. We enjoyed staying here away from the main resorts and a more local Greek feel.
Our hosts could not have been more accommodating during the Ionian Cyclone which meant we were indoors for nearly 48hours during the storm.
Lovely place to stay.

Booked package holiday with Jet2, staying a week at the Ionis Hotel. This is a 27 room family run hotel, where the owners can't do enough for you. They do as much as they can to make your stay special, they certainly did for my wife Aileen and I.
The hotel is rated 2 star but don't let that put you off, rooms are as big and equipped as well as any larger complexes I've stayed in, the swimming area and pool were spotless with plenty sun beds, all with cushion covers.
Given Covid situation, Aileen and I felt completely safe within the hotel environment, and cleanliness was spot on.
A great place to use as a base for touring the island and all for a very reasonable price.

If you are looking for peace and quiet away from the tourist areas, this is the place. Illias,Peri and their teenage children are just such lovely people who go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need and they keep the hotel immaculately clean. Grandad takes care of the grounds which are as tidy as the rest of the establishment. Illias will book car and scooter hire along with taxis and nothing seems too much trouble. This is a small family run hotel and that's exactly what you get. Light meals and snacks are available at the hotel but Peratata is not geared for tourists with regard to eating out. There are a couple of fabulous restaurants on the hill side with amazing views but it is advisable to hire some sort of vehicle if you want more of a variety regarding food.
Illias and his family made this a very special stay for us and we wouldn't hesitate in choosing the Ionis again as a very good base, especially if you want to go off and explore which is highly recommended.....Kefalonia is a beautiful island. We were nervous about travelling due to Covid and were some of the first tourists on the island. These people have had a very tough lock down and are virtually Covid free so please be mindful and respectful of that.
The Ionis is not the Hilton, it is a fantastic, honest and welcoming small establishment with a big heart and we feel we have made special friends with Illias and his family.....fantastic hosts....Will definitely return.

We have just returned from 12 nights at this little gem.
The rooms are basic but spotless and everything you need for a comfortable sleep. We had room 210 which faced the castle and enjoyed the lovely view from our balcony.
The pool area is lovely and the pool itself was large and kept immaculate. There is a pool bar serving drinks and food and a homemade special every day. The mousaka was out of this world. Dina who works behind the bar was so sweet and always smiling.
Illias the owner was so attentative and he and his wife Peri work relentlesly to make sure everything is perfect. Thankyou!
There are 2 restautants near the castle and Illias kindly books you a table and takes you up there and collects you. The hill is very steep and if you dont hire a car would be very difficult to access (unless you are very fit), we certainly wouldnt have been able to attemt it!
There is a bus stop right actoss the road from the hotel which takes you into Argostoli and there is a mini market and grill restaurant only a few steps away which was super convenient for us.
There is also a bakery about a 20 minute walk away who sell the most amazing cakes, pastries and sandwiches.
If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday with beautiful views and lovely hosts then this is the place for you.
We met some really nice people, some of whom we will remain friends with.
Well done Ionis, you should be very proud.
We will definately be back which is something we wouldnt normally do but just cant resist returning to this perfect place

We have just returned from a two week stay at the Ionis hotel and it was perfect.
Ilios, Peri and family made us feel at home straight away. We were in room 205 and had a great view of the immaculately kept pool and gardens from our balcony.
The basic rooms are kept scrupulously clean and bedding and towels were changed every second day.
Nothing is to much trouble here, need an extra pillow or a kettle, just ask and they are happy to oblige.
Ilios arranged car and scooter hire for us and they were delivered to our door step.

This is our second visit here and it will not be our last. Thank you Ilios, Peri and family for looking after us so well.

Julie and Matt. Your Scottish friends.

Checked in very quick and allocated room 105 on the ground floor.
Rooms are functional and comfortable as long as you remember it’s only a bed and a shower. Free safe and aircon which is a bonus in the heat. Found the odd film on TV in English which was a bonus.
Breakfast is very good and will cater for everyone’s needs ie continental very good.
The pool area is very well kept and it’s so peaceful not having to race out for beds sometimes we stayed out till well after 7pm. It has a well equipped pool bar serving alcohol and food (Little tip the mythos on draught is €4-80 for 500ml but a 500ml bottle of mythos is €3-60. Every little bit helps 😜)
Ilios will take people up to the two restaurants at the castle every night and pick you up for a small donation for petrol.
A bus takes you to Lourdas beach everyday at 9-45am and picks you up 3pm for €2 pp each way (pity the bus company didn’t extend this to 5pm)
Bus stop across the road for trips into the capital and on a Wednesday and Sunday night there is a minibus put on for €8pp return leaves at 7pm and well worth the trip in to see the capital at night when it comes alive.
Absolutely fantastic grill restaurant across the road that serves stunning food at great prices
Too sum up it was our first time in kefalonia and it far exceeded our expectations mainly due to the hospitality from the family and are already looking at booking again
PS ilias best practice on the karaoke

No there's no cash points nearby, free safe in hotel so you can take plenty cash and most places take card payment so you wont have to pay fees for cash withdrawls. Dont forget to walk up to the castle and try Kastro cafe for lunch or ask Illas to drop you at The Olive lounge one or two nights, he does this a few nights a week for guests
