We ordered snowmobile tour online for Camp Alta. We stayed at Camp Ripan, but we were picked up and had free transport to Camp Alta. We were a party of four and had 2 snowmobiles for a day. Cassie was our wonderful guide. We drove around on a nearby frozen lake, through a forrest, and to the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi. We had 3 hours at the Icehotel on our own, which was amazing. Our boys (both 14 years old also loved this tour, it was the highlight of everything, they said when we came home) What a beautiful landscape and surroundings. So idyllic. Maybe next time we come to Kiruna we’ll stay at Camp Alta, it look so cosy there. Thank you so much for making this day magical for us!

We did a great snowmobile tour to the Ice hotel, Sofien was a funny Guy and we had a lot of fun. The best section was the Part trough the snowy forest, the view was incredible. Would definitely recommend the Tour if you are staying in Camp Alta.

First of all reviewing the staff: the staff and the boss are amazing. Sosse is a GREAT (12/10!!) snow mobile tour guide and such a fun person to be around, he really goes to the end of the earth to keep guests happy. I couldn't imagine this trip without him and he was a huge part of what made this trip even better than I could have ever thought it would be. Liesel and Arina are both incredibly kind and hard workers and are so much fun to watch the Northern lights with. They will do everything they can to give you an unforgettable time. The environment and the frozen lake are literally insane and if lucky you will be blessed with the northern lights. If I can make a recommendation it is to visit the public fireplace and common kitchen and just have a chat with the other guests, I've made some friends for life and I can not wait to go back again! I stayed in cabin 2B which is a very simple cabin, but honestly what more do you need? What you read is what you get, it's simple but beautiful and if that is what you are looking for this camp is perfect for you.

I had the best cabin in the camp, right by the lake with a spectacular view. I have never had such a beautiful view in any place I've been to. I can only say that the stay was truly amazing, and Miriam was simply fantastic. I even get to take a dip into the lake before going to bed. Also, I love my certificate :)

Best camp around Kiruna ever. We have arrived late and owner had no problem to check us in, price was very nice, kitchen clean, bathrooms and showers sufficient. We met quite a lot of amazing ppl and the owner even let us row a boat on a lake. Perfect place.

The facilities are rundown and over-priced and the personel are nasty. There are so many better places to stay in this area! That the place was empty on a beautiful June day should have told us something.

Response from Camp Alta Kiruna, Owner at Camp Alta
Responded 13 Jun 2021
Dear guest, We do appreciate you share your point of view which is not corresponding with the circunstance regarding your inchecking in our family camp . At your arrival you ask if more people will be around the caravan area due your dog didnt like to meet other people, our staff kindly answer you that we could not ensure that other people will be around since we are a camping place. You asked with a caravan spot without electricity, so the person in charge indicated you the pertinent spots without electricity and how to park correctly to facilitate the circulation through the next parking place to other vehicles. The situation instead was that you park in the middle of 4 parking place with electricity, taking over the whole front view to the lake just in face of the parking place where other carvans park paying for electricity service, so our personal gently asked to park to the spots without electricity. Once you parked to the correct area, you come across to the reception to pay and you were complaining that this was not right, unfortunately we do not agree with your comments since it is not corresponding with the situation occurred. We try always to do our best for all our guests, you are always super welcome to park in front lake right side if you pay for the service and if you park according to our premises, so all our guests have the same right to have a nice overview to the lake. But what is not possible that one caravan take over and park wherever would like to. Hope this complete the whole version. Kind Regards, Campalta AB

Fantastic (short) stay at Camp Alta! The staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful. I highly recommend Sofien, who became a friend. The camp is situated on a lake, with good access to trails and partnerships with husky tours etc. There is a wide variety of cabins/rooms/houses to suit every group/couple/solo traveller. There is a sense of community in the camp, and exchange between travellers makes for a rich humane experience. The camp also does airport shuttle which is necessary in this wild region.

We spent three days at Camp Alta, enjoying the sauna and the barbecue. Also the place was wonderful to see the northern lights. The rooms were nice and the welcome was great. I particularly thank Sofien and Audrey for their welcome and the evenings spent together.

No oven in the biggest cabin. No cleaning before our arrival. Dirty cutlery and pans. Friendly staff. Very unfriendly boss. Abisko Tour is not worth the money. Rip off. With 16 people we paid 140 euros per person for two taxis and a wooden cabin in the wilderness that is not even suitable for more than 6 people.
