After a two year hiatus we returned to Copenhagen and the Axel, and enjoyed both. It is a short walk from central station (five minutes maximum), an easy walk into central Copenhagen, and a block over from the beer mecca Mikkeller Bar and their restaurant Ol & Brod. Yes, there are some street noises on the weekend--the hookers (who work...

Our room was comfortable with a welcome sitting area, though the bathroom (shower, no bath) was a little small. The little snacks and apples available free each day are a nice touch. The Axel's location is easily walkable from the central railway station (even with cases in tow) and within walking distance of the main sights, and walking is the...

This 129-room hotel is in a fairly attractive old building, well situated - close to the main railway station, Tivoli Gardens, bars, restaurants of all types, and the famous Strøget shopping precinct. Our room was reasonably sized and well furnished save for woefully inadequate cupboard space: a single wardrobe with 15" of hanging space for two people for a week!...

I like the hotel the location was great for walking around and going to Tivoli Gardens it was a two block walk from the train station and we were able to easily find our way there from the airport as the first stop. The staff was great and although I have read some reviews with people were complaining that the...

This very Scandinavian, organic, Eco friendly hotel is not for those who seek the comforts of a chain like the Holiday Inn. No AC on a hot day, road noises for those who love their windows open at night and a creaky bed could render lower scores from the faint at heart but the true nature of this lovely, dedicated...

This hotel is perfectly located if you are coming into the city from the Airport as is two roads away from Copenhagen Central station. 2 minutes walk past the station and you are at Tivoli. The rooms were clean, and stylishly furnished. We stayed in a double standard on the top floor which was nice. Note it is a Danish...

It is hot but there is no fan or AC. The drunks outside wont shut up so sleeping with the windows open is not an option. Even with the windows closed we can hear them laughing and yelling. We are in the red light district so there are "gift shops" of sex toys surrounding our hotel- don't bring children here...

I really enjoyed my stay here. Having stayed in all manner of hotels during my travels in Denmark, this hotel was a real treat. A boutique style hotel with friendly staff and beautifully appropriated rooms, I enjoy the decor, the beds, and the bathroom and all its amenities. Though not large, there was plenty of room. I enjoyed the trendy...

Sitting in bed at The Guldsmeden writing this review. There are lovely parts and not so lovely so all in all got the average rating. Forgive my ignorance and maybe no air conditioning is standard everywhere in Copenhagen, but it's a bit hot for us without AC. Sleeping with the balcony door open seemed a great idea but the loud,...

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner Vesterbro
This neighbourhood is home to Tivoli Gardens, a world famous amusement park and beautiful garden always worth a visit. Just west of Tivoli, you’ll find Copenhagen Central Station, from where you can reach just about every part of Denmark within 5 or 6 hours, or you can reach Copenhagen Airport in less than 15 minutes. Next to the Central Station, you’re in the middle of “old” Vesterbro, where several cultures and hundreds of languages are spoken in an area not more than one square mile. This neighbourhood is considered one of the most trendy places to live in and to visit in Copenhagen. For a real treat, visit Kødbyen ("meat town"), home to several restaurants, cafés and nightclubs, all within a short walk of each other.
