Spent four days at the Axel, with a room change on day two due to an unusual buzzing in our room. First, the staff didn't have to move us, could have written us off as crazy, and let the situation unresolved. They didn't, not only...More
Purely by chance we booked this hotel for one night prior to joining a cruise from the city. What a lovely hotel, quirky and giving the impression of being small (don't know how many rooms there are but I realised in the morning at check...More
I stayed 2 nights here while in Copenhagen and it was wonderful! The bed was so comfortable and the room had toiletries I needed. The style of the hotel is also very hip and earthy! Would definitely stay here again!
Stayed here recently with my fiancé and found it to be a great base for exploring Copenhagen - although it was a little further out of the centre than we had expected. We were fortunate enough to be given a free upgrade on arrival (always...More
The hotel style and atmosphere is very unique compare to other "office style" hotels around . I was looking something like a mix between "airbnb" cozy style and the hotel services. The Axel Guldsmeden is exactly what we needed for me and my partner's romantic...More

No, it’s a wonderful hotel. I too was very unsure about the mixed reviews. It’s a block away from the main train station so it’s very easy if you are coming to Copenhagen by train. The train station area in large cities is always a little seedy but I did not have any problems coming and going (as a single female traveler) on my own at all times of the day or night. However, if you do go left out of the hotel you do end up quickly in an area I didn’t feel comfortable in (hookers, drug dealing, and mentally unstable people hanging around) but I would not let that stop you staying here. You will spend all of your time going in the opposite direction so you won’t have to deal with this at all. As for the noise that people report. I specifically asked for a quite room and was give a room in their other building that was absolutely lovely and quiet. It didn’t have a view, but it was so peaceful (and I had the window open all night as it was so warm). The room also had a portable fan. The people who worked here were all warm and friendly. I would not hesitate to stay here again!
