Just came back from the Kaminakia apartments in Fiskardo. Me and my 11 year old travelled with Sunvil who I would highly recommend as they do the whole package with good flight, transfers from the airport and a friendly rep. (I don't normally do packages but it worked brilliantly with them and was excellent value.) We had 1 bed apartment no 8 which I requested following recommendations here. It was a great option as it was the last in the row on the top level and meant that no one walked past us and the views from the living and bedroom and balcony were spectacular. The apartment was simple and traditional with a lovely high sloping wooden ceiling and bright blue shutters, whitewashed built in beds and very well equipped. The bathroom was on the basic and small side ( shower curtain isn't always good at keeping the water in the tray) but did the job. The only thing that wasn't brilliant was the overhead fan in the living room didn't keep the room cool enough in the hot August weather so my son found it hard to sleep in there. If they put fly-screens on the patio doors we would have left the doors open and shutters closed to allow a bit more air to circulate. The aircon in the bedroom worked fine though. The owners, Dimitri, Annie and Yiorgos are nearly always around and were cheerful and helpful. There is a lovely outdoor terrace area near the reception under trees where we could access the wifi, overlooking the pool. Sometimes in the evenings I sat with a glass from the bottle of wine which was thoughtfully left in the fridge on arrival, The welcome pack also included instant coffee, tea, bread, milk and orange juice, washing up liquid and salt & pepper. That was great as It's nice not to have to spend money on these things that when you arrive. The pool was a good size with more of the same lovely views across the bay to Ithaca and surrounded with dry stone walls, and succulent plants and trees. There were always enough sun-beds and you can help yourself to sun-bed cushions. Bring pool/beach towels though as these are not provided. There is a small bar by the pool but it wasn't functioning - we though it would be nice to convince Dimitris to host a greek supper there one night of the week as it would have been nice to have an evening to get to know the other people staying there and the setting is so nice...perhaps we can persuade him for next year. The other thing would've been nice would be to have an honesty bar as it was quite heavy to lug water & drinks back from the supermarket from town. Apparently the bigger supermarket can delivery groceries but we didn't find that out until the last day. It's an easy walk into Fiskardo to the tavernas and boat trips etc. It takes about 10 minutes and about 10 minutes to Foki beach with its nice traditional taverna in the other direction. We rather liked the small cove at the bottom of the drive as it took 2 minutes to get to and was almost empty even in the height of August. You definitely need rubber swimming shoes to enjoy the rocky beaches, we bought ours in Fiskardo when we arrived and made all the difference to enjoying the beaches. Snorkels and flippers are a really good idea too as the water is so clear and full of fish and marine life that is easy to see. My Other top tip is to try the takeaway Gyros Pita from Lagoudera or the place round the corner in the square - a lovely fluffy pita bread with meat or vegetarian souvlaki topped with a few home made chips - only 2-3 euros and very tasty and filling. We got ours and sat by the harbour watching the yachts coming and going. We pre-booked a day trip with Ionian Discoveries ( they can get very booked up) which we loved so much we did it twice in a week - it is a bit of a treat but well worth every penny and made our holiday. All in all a fab holiday and we would definitely think about returning soon.

Traditional Greek accommodation. We stayed in apartment No 5, definitely the best one for privacy and view. Bed is large and very comfortable. Maid service 3 times in 2 weeks. Bins emptied every couple of days. Run by lovely, friendly family. The slope up to the apartments is steep! but it's only 4 euro from the town if you've lost the energy to stroll home. The pool area is very clean and the sun beds are comfy. Please remember if there is a rain storm to keep the blue shutters closed or you'll get water in your room. Would really recommend Kaminakia if staying in Fiscardo. It's a gentle 15 min stroll down to Fiscardo harbor if you turn left at the end of the drive, or 20 mins stroll to the right to Foki Beach - absolutely worth every second!

These apartments and the pool area are starting to look a little tired and could do with a bit of titivating. However the apartments are in a good location with great views over Ithaca. Dimitri is a bit tight with the toilet rolls and it became a bit of a game to try and get a new logo roll. Also the sanitary bins are not emptied every day and sometimes not even on the days they should have been. The beds although very hard I personally found very comfortable. The air conditioning is permanently set to 24 c but we found this to be very comfortable and saved having rows with her ladyship in what temp to set. The driveway, well it is quite steep and after a fortnight I have great calf muscles.

We wanted a holiday where we could relax in comfort and recharge our batteries! This fitted the bill perfectly. Clean comfortable apartment with a traditional feel. Fabulous view from balcony and poolside. Pool superb....clean and extremely well maintained....felt "soft" in there!! Fiskardo itself a hive of boating activity which is great to observe whilst eating at one of the many waterside restaurants. Recommend bakery on harbour corner near Captains Cabin. No complaints at all.....will definitely visit again.

After a two and a quarter hour coach trip we were very pleased to get to the apartment. We were given No 7 which had a large balcony overlooking Ithaca - shame I forgot the binoculars! Large comfy double bed, lots of hanging space with basic kitchen facilities. I found the iron the day we left but there was no hairdryer. Bathroom was quite small, especially the shower so had the usual problem of the shower curtain sticking to you as you showered. The apartment was cleaned twice in the week we were there and the bins three times. We went with Sunvil and as in the past there were a few basics in the fridge but unusually no shopping bag, salt, pepper, foil etc. We did make the mistake of sleeping with the balcony doors open as the air-conditioning was set at 24 degrees which was way too hot and a couple of kittens decided to make themselves at home. . . The sun-beds were extremely comfortable and there was always room around the pool. On some webpages there is mention of a bar/snack bar - not the case. It was about a 15 minute holiday walk into Fiscardo - a torch is useful - where there are plenty of bars and restaurants - we particularly liked Bar Greco which was right on the harbour-side, had friendly service and had decent music which was a great place to sit out the heavy rainstorms - unlike some Brits who thought it acceptable to shelter from the rain, take up lots of space without buying a drink!

What an excellent place to stay. Chatting to Dimitri, who takes care of you throughout your visit - he built it over 25 years ago. He should feel very proud of what he has created. Lovely pool, clean, simple rooms.

This was almost a perfect experience for us and our toddler this summer. The pool was excellent to splash around in when hot. The apartment has a lovely big balcony and oodles of wardrobe space. Was also cleaned brilliantly twice a week. The slope was quite a steep issue if you are dealing with a buggy, but wen knew it was an issue when we booked and the views made it worthwhile. No problems with cats, there was only two left and they laced under trees most of the day. The only bugbear we had was that the air con control had "do not tamper" scrawled over some tape on it. As we had paid a lot of money for a sunvil holiday we felt this was unacceptable as,we should be trusted to cool down as suited us. Also no childs play equipment as mentioned on their website just the stand where a basketball hoopy was attached and the swing stand without swings. Bit disappointing. Otherwise all great!

We’ve just returned from a one-week stay. It was beautifully located, comfortable, clean and (apart from the bathroom) fairly spacious. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment. It’s best suited to couples who want fairly quiet accommodation. This was late June, and we were not too hot: there is air conditioning in the bedroom and a fan in the living room. The beds were comfortable (if a little hard) and the pillows were better than you usually get outside the UK. The bathroom is small but adequate with limited shelving space. The shower unit was just about big enough and it didn’t overflow. Inevitably in Greece the plumbing is not great. The scenery is beautiful and the Kaminakia site is well positioned for enjoying it. It’s a little way up, about 15 minutes from the town centre. You’ll love the view from the patio – across the sea to the neighbouring island of Ithaca. Turning right on to the road there’s a walk of about 15 minutes to Foki beach, an unspoilt beauty spot: a small secluded shingle beach surrounded by hills and woodland, with just one bar. The apartment was generously equipped. Washing-up liquid and pegs were provided, also a few tea bags and some coffee. In the fridge there was a large bottle of mineral water, a carton of milk, a carton of orange juice, and a bottle of wine. There’s no TV, but the safe was included at no extra cost. One minor annoyance was bizarre and unnecessary. Their generosity did not include an adequate supply of toilet paper. When we arrived there was about half a roll and no spare! Later when we asked for more this was met with surprise. As guests/customers we should not have been put in that situation. A pity, as there was little else to fault them on. The layout of the flat was open plan and a little unusual. The bedroom had a door, but the wall only separated it partially from the living area. The internal doors sounded a bit noisy at night time. A few practicalities are worth mentioning. • To visit the town you turn left out of the site. Most of the way there’s only one road. It’s simplest the first time if you follow the sign on the right for the Roman cemetery. • You can’t really pop out before breakfast to buy fresh bread for the day: the shops are too far. You need to get it some other time. • For the same reason you can’t enjoy an ice cream in your apartment or by the pool. • We found three supermarkets, which were adequate for our needs. • Our preferred bakery was the nearest: Mylos (Windmill). They also do a good range of ice cream flavours. • Our two favourite restaurants were Irida’s and Nicolas Taverna (further round, with views across the bay). We also had a good meal at Parnassos. I’ve reviewed them separately. • The water heater was very efficient and only needed to be on for a few minutes at a time (e.g. when using the shower). • The best place to use wi-fi is near the reception area. It worked well there, but not in our apartment. • We found mosquitoes less of a problem than in Kos last September, but precautions were still advisable. • Fiskardo is obviously a paradise for cats! They gave us no problem. But you shouldn't feed them. • The walk to and from the town is pleasant, but the driveway into the Kaminakia site is rather steep. About half way up you have the option of a short level area which leads to some steps. The route is fairly well lit at night, but a torch can be helpful in places. • In present circumstances you should check the latest advice re money before you go. We had no problems. But most restaurants didn’t seem to take credit cards. We found just one cash point in Fiskardo. • The airport transfer was the longest and most scenic I can recall. About two hours by coach, less by taxi. I could go on for ever about the scenery. Just enjoy it!

Apartment (5) was simple, but spotlessly clean, and with everything you need, even a welcome pack including milk and wine. Dimitris even provides mossie plug-ins and pegs for the small washing line. He's lovely and very helpful. Our bins were emptied daily and linen changed once in the week. Don't forget a beach towel as obviously that's not provided. Views are over the deep blue sea and Ithaca - from the apartments and the pool area. Pools seem fairly rare in the area and this is a very nice one, with lots of loungers and mattresses provided. Garden is gorgeous with lots of magnificent flowers. We could only get WI-FI close to the pool. Parking provided, which again looks rare if you're staying closer in to Fiskardo. As others have said, about 10-15 mins walk from both harbour front and Foki beach with taverna. Steep drive. Very quiet. Fiskardo harbour is bustling with amateur sailors and very fancy yachts. Lovely places to eat right by the water. Waiting staff and shop owners genuinely friendly and helpful. We rented a car and drove around a bit. Roads are quite exciting! Assos is very nice, but Fiskardo was the best place to stay, we thought. We also rented a small motor boat from Fiskardo harbour for one day. Good fun and easy to find secluded beaches with great snorkeling, in June anyway. Beware though - the fuel can add considerably to the cost of the hire. June seems like an ideal time to go to Kafalonia. Very warm, but not busy - roads quiet, parking plentiful and free, no wait at restaurants. We booked last minute with Sunvil and they were excellent. Anna and Maria, the resort reps, were extremely helpful. Charter flights with Germania were also very good. We had a free hot meal each way and they were of far better quality than those on the transatlantic scheduled flights we took earlier in the year.

We had simple yet authentic accommodation which was spotless and cleaned regularly with clean sheets and towels etc. Fab Views, lovely balconies, garden, great size swimming pool and did not notice any other pools nearby. You could go for a swim right in front of the apartments in the sea, the other beaches were 5, 10, 15 and 30 minutes walk away. The Town 15 minutes max. Lots of Taverna's and many authentic Greek food. Boat trips,. yacht charter, boat hire, canoe hire, snorkelling, scuba. Everything here is on your doorstep so you don't need to hire a car as there are plenty of places to walk to. Dimitri and his lovely wife at the Kamanakia apartments were fabulous, couldn't do enough for your comfort. I felt we were very lucky to have chosen this place and we booked it through Sunvil Holidays and everything was organised extremely well and we were all seen on to our flights on the return where sometimes these tiny busy airports are somewhat disorganised, but the Sunvil lot followed us through the system. It was also 25 degrees every day.
