Beautiful hotel with comfortable beds, large rooms for a family of 4-5. The host Thomas so welcoming and helpful. We had to leave for an early ferry and he had prepared us hot breakfast sandwiches, hard boiled eggs and sweet bread to go by 7 a.m. and reserved us a car.
Porta medina is tailored to the center of Heraklion. Décor and overall aesthetic not only creates a unique accommodation, but it also creates a destination within a destination! Thank you Thomas and Maria for your warm hospitality!
The hotel is well located and clean. The mattress is good. On the negative though: - the standard room in the ground floor is a small cave, you have NO WINDOW, only a door that gives to the courtyard which is always open and thus you have to close. This is fine as long as this is reflected in the price but clearly 90 euros are too expensive for this type of room. I am moving to another four star hotel 4 minutes from there where I will pay 70 euros, including breakfast and with windows. Conclusion: if you get a good price, it is worth, otherwise, find something else. The street is VERY noisy, whatever room you have. Take your earplugs in all cases
This hotel had a great location and was definitely very different to a normal hotel. It is an amazing building with very spacious rooms but it is more of a serviced apartment than boutique hotel. There is no one at reception most of the time and due to it being short staffed during our stay, the room amenities were not regularly changed or topped up so we had to chase them up. If you are looking for something different, then this is a good find but it is not a hotel.
Beautiful old home restored into a boutique hotel with wooden stair case, stone walls and a large front courtyard. Large rooms with high ceilings and very comfortable. Owners Wonderful!!! Very helpful with recommendations. Small Taverna on the corner right next door excellent for light food and drinks. Highly Recommend!!!
Beautifully restored kretan stone house. at the heart of the historical center. Perfect for exploring the city and for hanging out in the nearby cafes and restaurants. Young owners are very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful hotel in the middle of the city. Nice personnel, clean and nice room. Everything was fantastic. The building is restored, all is very nice, the wooden stairs, the walls made of stone, the nice floors and ceiling... I will come back.
