I'd definitely recommend this hotel to everybody. It is in a nice location - close to the center but far from the noise. Nice sandy beach is 10 mins away. Staff is incredibly nice and helpful. Food was wonderful and rooms are very cosy and cleaned daily. I'll definitely book this hotel again when I go next to Amoudara.

We really liked the reviews and pictures of Lili and therefore decided to stay here, however it truly is a two-star hotel only. Pros: + beautiful garden around the hotel that gives privacy, but doesnt attract bugs + staff is very nice + Air conditioning works great and without any additional charge + breakfast is the usual stuff, great greek yoghurt with honey + a rather large pool that is clean + large and nice balcony + the hotel is close to many tavernas, car rentals, bus stations, supermarkets etc. Cons: - food is SUCH a disappointment. We expected traditional greek cuisine, but they obviously got very influenced by the amount of German guests. In 5 days, we had spaghetti and schnitzel both twice! Almost everything is deep fried and the only side they serve are french fries. - we also really didn’t like the fact that for dinner, they serve each guest two different main courses (4 plates in total for us) but we always received only one salad and one fruit plate for 2 people. We couldn’t eat two main courses each, so every night they threw the leftover untouched meals away which is such a waste, especially during these corona times when many people are short on food. - ashtrays are everywhere so be prepared to smell cigarettes every breakfast and every dinner or even at the pool. - Wi-Fi is for free, but it doesnt work much. Expect loading a single page for minutes, especially when overloaded. In the evenings, it worked better. - the fridge (and the air conditioning as well, but you can turn it off for the night) is so loud it woke us up many times during the night. - every single noise from other rooms and the hall you will hear as if it was in your room. If we didnt got woken up by the fridge, other guests took their part, so every night we were woken up about 3-5 times. - the rooms cannot be locked and there are no “please Don’t distrub” signs available, so we didnt feel much privacy - the sunbeds around the pool are very old and around 80 % of them are broken. - there’s plenty of stray cats in poor condition that always come during breakfast and dinner. As soon as you leave your table to get some drink or whatever, they jump on the table and eat from your plate. Since the animals looked ill and had visible wounds, we weren’t very happy about this. - standard rooms are tiny even when travelling as a couple, you almost cannot open the bathroom door

It's a nice, cozy hotel located at such a place that you are far enough from the main street with all the restaurants and shops that it's quiet and peaceful but also close enough that you can easily access everything (the beach is not that far from it but also not really close which could be considered a disadvantage). We had breakfast included which was nice and there were enough options to choose from but because we overslept a lot we managed to catch it only a few times (breakfast is from 6:30 until 9:30). It seems that the breakfast options were the same every day of the week - so it's actually good that we got to eat outside the hotel as well. You can also choose to have dinner at the hotel - it was okay for the price (8 EUR if I remember correctly). The hotel was kind of a 50/50 choice for our group because on one hand we were the loudest ones there - hanging out by the pool very late, getting asked to go to our rooms by the staff, getting the outdoor lights turned off on us, being a little bit too loud a little bit too late in the evening and probably annoying the guests with children (most of the guests seemed to be staying with their families). On the other hand - we spent our days travelling around Crete, coming back to the hotel just to hang out in the evenings and to sleep - so it was a good fit because it doesn't really provide any entertainment on the premises like it is at big resorts so it's cheaper. Our room was okay but our friends got one of the renovated rooms and theirs was a lot nicer - with a new air conditioner, big shower, actual double bed etc. while our room had a loud, old air conditioner, really small bathroom and a shower that leaked (every time after taking a shower there was a big puddle on the bathroom floor which actually had a drain so I guess the hotel staff was aware of the situation) and three single beds (two of them pushed together to make a double). The staff barely speaks/understands English and I was really disappointed with the cleaning service - I don't believe they changed the towels and sheets once for the week that we stayed there. They didn't change the glasses as well (I left one of the two glasses from our room by the pool and they didn't bring us any new ones). While unpacking and putting my stuff in the closet two different socks fell out of a shelf - probably left there by previous guests. Also it's a minus that they don't provide you with free bottles of drinking water and any toiletries (except for hand soap) like it is at other hotels. I love the style of the hotel (mainly the outside of it) and every room comes with a safe with no extra charge - that's a nice little bonus. Overall it's obvious that it is a better choice for families with children but even then I think it's much nicer to stay at a resort if you're travelling with children because at least then you know that there are other sources of entertainment there other than an average sized pool.

This hotel was really great. Small and personal. Good value for the money, not to crowded. Great big pool and nice breakfast. The bus in to city center of Heraklion went just outside every 10 min and took 20 min. Close to the beach, small restaurants and some shoping. We would totally stay here again. Thank you Lili Hotel
