Stayed for one night. Last minute after cancelled flight. Very attentive staff. Clean and comfortable. Lovely pool. Natalia was a lovely waitress in the evening and went the extra mile to chat to us in English and help us order food and drinks.
Checked into this hotel at 5am with friends when TUi cancelled our flight and refused to find us any better than a 2* awful hotel. The management of The Sofia went out of the way to help us. Clean comfortable rooms. When we came down in the morning found a lovely garden with pool area. Clean comfortable reception area and spotless toilets Hotel staff kept us going with coffees and endless free wine. Cant thank them enough for keeping us from sleeping on airport floor and for there warm and welcoming hospitality. If ever you need a room near to the airport highly recommended this lovely hotel Thank you Sofia and staff for helping us out and saving my back from a night on a hard cold floor💕
We stayed at this hotel for one night only, as we had to catch the plane at 6 am. It's located right by the airport, so it was easy to park and return the car the next day, without waking up way too early. The pool area is pretty big, shaded, which is great considering the summer temperatures, and staff was friendly. The cuisine was basic, but at the end of our stay all we needed was a last Greek Salad. The bedrooms were spacious, shower good, and bedding perfect. With the air conditioner we didn't hear the plane much, but it's true that when by the pool it was every 5 minutes, and very loud!
We were looking for a minimal journey as our flight was arriving at 2230 and this hotel seemed to be closest to the airport. It turned out to be a really great choice! A very friendly welcome at reception and the bar/restaurant staff were equally friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable and we had a good night’s sleep. A buffet breakfast was included in our booking and there was a good selection of food. It’s not a 5 star hotel with lots of frills, although it does have a good size swimming pool, but we certainly couldn’t find any faults and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
After Wizz Air cancelled mine and my friends flight and left us stranded in Crete, this hotel was a god send. We stayed the night in a family room. Staff were very friendly. Room was clean and spacious, nothing fancy though. We then spent the next day relaxing by the pool before boarding our new flight at the near by airport. Breakfast is very basic and not worth it when round the corner is a bakery that sells lovely coffee n pastries. Also town is a 10 min walk away if you want to explore the shops a bit more. Overall, great little spot for a night if you are in a pinch and need a place near the airport for 1/2 nights
We stayed at this hotel as our flights got cancelled the day before we were due to fly home. Very grateful they had 3 rooms to put us up and the rooms were clean and tidy when we checked in. Sadly one of the rooms smelt of stale smoke but that soon went once we had the balcony door open for a bit. Air conditioner looks very old but seems to work pretty well. I would recommend this hotel for a few nights missed fligh/cancelled fligh not ideally for a week as quite loud being right next to the airport and very basic rooms. No tea coffee making facilities or bottled water. Breakfast definitely not worth €7 being cheaper and better to go ti the little bakery round the corner.
A basic but adequate hotel very convenient if you need somewhere near the airport. Reception was friendly and efficient. The room was on the small side but perfectly OK for what we wanted. Despite being near the airport it was fairly quiet and we slept well. Despite arriving at almost 11:00pm we were able to get a basic bite to eat, in our case an omelet which was perfect for our needs. Shower was fine. Breakfast buffet was a bit basic, but fair value for €7. The hotel has parking, which is useful. We never tried the pool. It looked a little on the small side. Not a ‘Destination’ hotel, but if I ever had a late flight in or early flight out I would happily use again.
Good location if you need to be close to the airport. Watch the planes soar by your bedroom window! Having said that, it was quite a quiet spot.Breakfast was adequate and our room was a bit small but again fit for purpose. The mattress was very hard, but i am actually ok with that. Would have loved tea making facilities but maybe that is just the way Crete is. No info file in the room but i expect that was a covid restriction. Certainly not a 3 star feel but clean enough and reasonably priced for a one night stay.
Sofia Hotel is really close to the Heraklion Int. Airport. Reception staff was helpful and efficient. My room was on the ground floor with a balcony facing the road. The size of the room, bathroom and balcony were great. The mattress was great and free parking was also a bonus. Breakfast (following covid-19 protocols) was OK, but nothing special. Wi-fi was sufficient Being close to the Airport means that there is noise from the aircrafts taking off. Water in the room was not drinkable (which I understand happens, but in that case you offer some bottles of water to the guests)
Rooms were confortable, had space and were very well cleaned. It is located just a 10-15 minutes walk to the airport and rentals cars. Breakfast is medium with some bread, omoletes, croissants, drinks.
