Beautiful luxury hotel and villas beside the sea, set in lovely, well-tended grounds, excellent restaurants, fab pool and helpful staff. We stayed here over the Jubilee weekend. Lots of things to recommend - an easy journey, direct flight from London, and about 40 minutes from Heraklion airport. The check-in was very welcoming in the comfort of the outdoor bar. We were offered a drink and a very informative staff member showed us around the grounds, which are filled with modern artworks and lovely flowers. Several platforms are built out into the sea, with steps down into the water, with sunbeds and parasols, so it was always easy to find a place to relax by the water. There's also a small area of sandy beach for those who prefer sand, and there's usually a breeze blowing, which makes the heat comfortable. The modern outdoor breakfast area is stylish, and the buffet style breakfast is outstanding, with everything you could wish for beautifully presented, and staff waiting to cook eggs your way, or preparing speciality Mediterranean dishes for you to try. We tried two of the three restaurants, and they were both excellent - the fish is highly recommended! And the staff were so good, eager to use their English. The nearby town of Agios Nikolaos is about 15 minutes walk away, and very lively in the evening. Plenty of places to stop for a drink or lovely meal with some fabulous views, though we spoke to some people who had never left the grounds of the hotel for the whole of their stay! We thoroughly enjoyed our mini-break here, and I'm sure we will return before too long!…
I consider myself a well travelled person, visiting many continents and amazing hotels, but I honestly consider this one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Everything from the staff, to the location, to the food was absolutely incredible. The staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is as perfect as it could be. The views are simply breathtaking and it was a welcome break given the current climate. Would happily come back anytime. Thanks for an amazing stay Minos.
We arrived here late evening by car from Heraklion for a four night stay. An unfriendly security person told us where to park since parking spaces in front of hotel were full. There was no one to assist with our luggage. Someone did materialize after we were checked in. We were assigned a beautiful room overlooking the bar and super loud music being managed by a DJ. Not the ambience we were hoping for! My wife inspected a couple of alternatives offered by the kind lady from reception, but none were suitable. We finally rested by midnight after an excellent meal in their Bouillabaisse restaurant. We were never offered an apology from management, so we decided to seek alternatives. We secured two nights at Minos Palace Hotel and Suites. The Minos Beach Art Hotel is a superbly designed hotel in beautiful grounds. The room was upscale. All the staff we encountered were pleasant. The breakfast buffet had a wide range of hot and cold offerings. The outside seating area was pleasant. Our second night here was blissfully quiet. If management had dealt directly with the music problem and informed us about how often the DJ entertained the bar, then perhaps we would have stayed. However, we were now committed to their 'sister' hotel for two nights.…
It was a great experience for me and my wife and we really enjoyed the spa experience, Irene was most helpful to find what was best for us. The hotel near the city and within walking distance is the famous lake of Agios Nikolaos. We enjoyed so much our stay there that we actually consider of visiting again!
This hotel is our family favorite. We come every two years and are never disappointed. This year we even found a new reason to love it here - they have renovated the little spa. And the lovely and soulful Maria will transform you with her magical massage. It all comes from the heart and you can feel that.
This lovely hotel lived up to our high expectations. The zen aesthetic is very harmonious and pleasing to the eye. The hotel is super clean and very well maintained. We had to change the bungalow because the layout and location of the first one did not work for us. The hotel staff worked hard to find a more suitable one during a busy season, and we are so pleased we stayed. No request was too big - mattress topper for a bad back, extra hangers, Nespresso machine, car rental, numerous taxis and restaurant bookings were handled efficiently and with a smile. The staff works hard, but they all are relaxed and smiling. Nobody is abused working from 7am till late at night, which you often observe in seasonal destinations. The setting is lovely. The beach area is private and spread out. Lounges are comfortable, and cocktails arrive quickly. The little beach on the left is one of the best and cleanest ever, and the sea is fantastic. Snorkelling around the small rocks is great fun, too. I had a course of treatments at the hotel spa. It is delightful. All therapists are very professional, and the products are superb; a special shoutout to Maria (and her Mum). We loved being so close to the town. A walk, cycle or taxi ride, and you are in the centre of a charming buzzing town with a great selection of seafood restaurants and cocktail lounges. Venturing out further, we enjoyed La Plaka - a fishermen's village with lovely restaurants, Elounda, a trip to the Richtis waterfall, picturesque Mochlos village and a tour around Lasithi Plateau. Will be returning!…
Great massage with Maria. She was really kind. My mom had a really nice massage with PHeobe. Everything was nice. Well organized very clean place. The hotel is marvelous and everyone is so kind and polite
We stayed at the Minos Beach Hotel for two weeks and were very enthusiastic about the people at the hotel, who looked after us very well. The food was excellent in all three restaurants in the hotel. We liked the Kafenion the best. Fadra will be remembered very well with her friendly and nice manner. Big thanks to the amazing team at Minos Beach Hotel. Gerhard & Karin from Austria
We've just finished a two week stay at the Minos Beach Hotel...and what a fabulous, relaxing, tranquil two weeks we've had. Thank you team Minos. As many have commented the hotel is immaculate, the gardens beautiful and the service attentive and friendly. We stayed in two different rooms types; superior water front with private loungers right on the water (room 90) and the teenagers in a water front room with private loungers on the water front (room 93). The rooms felt newly refurbished, although the superior room was significantly bigger and worth the extra. The rooms were the furthest from the hotel but so peaceful. We literally drifted away for two weeks, moving from our private loungers, to the sea front to the pool area. It's the laziest and most relaxing holiday we've had for some time. The food for the most part is very good. The breakfast was excellent with a large choice. The pool and beach bars were nice, but probably needed a little more rotation of choice. The location of the hotel is excellent as it's far enough out of Agios for a little peace and quiet, but a short 20 mins walk and you are in the heart of the town. If you want something a little more lively there is Amoodi beach bar a 2 min walk (not part of the hotel) but well worth a visit. The overall test for the family is "would we come back?" which is a very easy yes. …
This is a stunningly beautiful hotel. The architecture is absolutely gorgeous, the design impeccable. It is definitely architectural, clean lines, slates, Greys, creams and browns. Very austere in a way. The gardens are gorgeous and the flowers beautiful. Almost every where you walk there is an interesting modern art exhibit. A few things to mention: not all rooms are created equal. We booked the superior waterfront bungalow. There are 2 rows of these; one row is actually on the waters edge… which is what is advertised and shown on the website etc the other site back and is not really waters edge. Both have private beach chairs for your bungalow at the waters edge; however do not assume your bungalow will be where you thought and were led to believe from the website it should be. We were placed in the back row. Very very very disappointing!!! Now we did complain, and our travel agent did work with the hotel and they switched our room, but that was 2 nights later. Not sure why the hotel has the same pricing and code for these 2 rows of bungalows, when they are so not the same. Second issue; the food is very limited in its variety. There are several restaurants, all of them architecturally beautiful. You cannot get more gorgeous, however I’m going to say we were really disappointed in the food. Not to worry… you’re actually within walking distance to Agios Nicholas with much more variety. But I was surprised such a hotel had such lower quality food. We ate in the hotel a couple of nights. Food delivery is slow! I think they have one central kitchen, can’t quite figure that out, but we were not impressed. That said the breakfast buffet was amazing and very varied. They also do a buffet dinner, which we had one night which is maybe good for you if you have children and they can pick and choose. Staff are friendly, the hotel is really well run. It really is impeccable. My impression, and I would highly recommend this hotel is that it is a beautiful hotel, stunning, very architectural almost like a museum, however it lacks a passion.…
