the rooms are tidy enough, the environment is beautiful, tidy. food: bad. all days the same. the choice is very small. most lacking in fruit. after 3 days of eating better go to town. valued better than it actually is.
I higly recommend Anna Maria Village. We visited the hotel in May for our wedding, we stayed there one week. The hotel is located in Hersonissos, about 30mins by car from Heraklion. The rooms are really nice, cleaned shiny everyday. We had there breakfasts and dinners as well. Everyday there was a big variety of food, which was delicious and a way better from the others hotels which we have visited. Especially on the dinner, which in my opinion is worth to take as you stay there. You can try the greek food and also seafood. There were always several main dishes to choose, some sweets, fruits and other. The service was really great, starting from the barman and finishing with the waitresses. The view from the hotel rooms is nice. There is the swimming pool available as well and the hotel is located only about 10mins by feet from the seaside. The nature which is surrounding the property is beautiful with many flowers. Late check in is not a problem - you just need to let the owner know about it. The hotel is being managed by an amazing family, who can help you with everything what is needed. Manolis did everything for us to have a comfortable holiday and made us feel that we are friends from a long time. Thank you once again for everything! Ευχαριστώ πολύ, όλη περάσαμε πολύ ωραία! 😊…
It’s a wonderful place to stay. You will have polite and warm service, tasty food and a swimming pool. It’s a family business so the owners are very welcome, attentive and ready to help with and question or problem we had. They don’t have their own beach but you can walk 10-15 min and find nice places to stay. Отличный отель. Всем рекомендую.
An amazing hotel with good value for money Anna Maria Village has definitely good Greek vibes. The hotel is located in a calm area in a walking distance to a gorgeous bay with an absolutely beautiful restaurant Saradari on the rock. Anna Maria is run by a friendly Greek family who treat the hotel and their guests with all heart. Food is absolutely delicious so you are at risk of gaining weight:). Rooms are clean and cozy. We stayed in September 2021 at a standard garden view room (on the ground floor). This category of rooms are just after renovation with brand new furniture and new comfortable mattresses. There is no noise at the hotel. There was no need to use the air conditioner since the window and terrace are covered with flower bushes which provided shadow from sun. And there was no mosquitos either. Since I am a fan of quality sleeping, it was crucial for me. The hotel is nicely organised and decorated also. Whenever we had some issues to resolve in Greece (with a doctor, car rentals etc), the staff at reception was at our services. Once we came back with some delay from the trip to Santorini and the restaurant was not operating but we asked for dinner we missed and the staff brought us food and it was so sweet from them. This hotel is an awesome choice for couples, families and solo travellers. But if you want to embrace active night life, you need to take a cab or rent a car to go to Malia, Hersonissos or Heraklion. There’s an option to go on foot to Hersonissos, but it might be not a good idea at night since there are no side walks along the way. During the day you can go on foot to Hersonissos and it will take only 15 mins. I definitely recommend this hotel which deserves 4 stars. It’s really a hidden gem of this area.…
Visited this hotel in June 2021. Our plane arrived late in the evening, we were well greeted and fed with a delicious dinner! We liked everything very much. Clean, comfortable, delicious breakfasts and dinners! Let's come back for more details!
We took family suite for 3 persons. Not overcrowded (probably due to COVID issues). The food is nice, service is excellent, stuff very friendly, the beach is close. Small pool for kids and separate pool for adults. Calm, peaceful and cosy surroundings.
I am writing this review from memory because I have misplaced notes made during our stay back in August.. It was interesting to read some other reviews about the standard of accommodation. We had paid extra for a superior room with sea view for two nights. Our room was very good, clean, comfortable and modern located in what appeared to be in a newer building than the main block. So we had no complaints. Breakfasts were basic and we only ate dinner once on the evening before traveling to the airport. The dinner buffet was very plain and simple with limited choice. I am not sure how much the package holiday guests paid for their holiday stay but I guess that may have been in the budget sector. There were very few choices to eat nearby and it is a fair walk into the main strip which is very touristy and popular with young people seeking a lively night out. We ate once at the small Gorgona Kaferion Ouzerie which serves Greek food from a limited menu. It is located on the way into town along the beach road but closes early at about 9pm. We also had a good Greek meal at the Mythos restaurant which serves Greek/international food and is situated off the main shopping road. The pool was small with a limited number of loungers . There are a few small narrow public beaches nearby but in August they were extremely crowded. If you are not early enough to secure a sunbed/umbrella then be prepared to rub shoulders with others lying on beach towels. Overall, the staff were very friendly and our short stay was enjoyable.…
We are from Armenia. The hotel was very comfortable, clean and not far from seaside. Staff is very friendly, thanks to Alex and Monika, we had great time with them. Food was very delicious, every day it was a new dishes. We will advise to stay at the second floor, because the rooms there are more sunny and light. Bathroom is clean, every day they change towels and clean the room. It was very thankful that every time after cleaning they design beds, with towels. And there is a free air conditioner in the room With love Nare and Liana
On the positive, having been moved to this hotel at the last minute, the best we could say that we ended up in a slightly better location (if not a better hotel) - for going out elsewhere! Hire a car, or a taxi with driver as there are many fantastic places & sites within easy reach. The hotel was functional at best, but at least with friendly, helpful, staff - this rescued my rating given up to Average - they made the best of a very basic property. Perhaps it being very near the end of season, things were being used up and wound down. I'm sorry to have to post such a review; I'm usually someone who tries to find the positive - especially when on holiday. The photos used to publicise the hotel are, I feel, a little misleading. Our room was basic, the shower and fitting quite corroded, the door lock damaged, the little patio with canteen type chairs. Our room didn't have any privacy nets or mosquito screens (unlike some of the other rooms). The only English channel on the TV was Sky news. The photos showing comfy lounge chairs are actually part of the adjoining Lounge Bar. Cleaning was daily but variable in quality and too much smoking is allowed on site (even in the dining seating area by the pool) which means that even the basic general outside spaces smell of smoke and smoke drifts across from others' patio areas. The rooms do have a kettle and mini fridge, but you need to provide your own drink makings. The pool loungers are old, not comfortable, and there are no cushions available. I'd advise taking your own (or buying from next door) towels - there is no poolside service. The client base seems to be mostly German, Dutch and Eastern Europe/Russian, with quite a few young families . As a consequence, the experience for us wasn't great - but maybe the food was to their liking; I wouldn't know. In our opinion, the food was poor quality and nothing like we've experienced elsewhere in Crete before. It all fell far short of there being sufficient healthy options. We felt we needed to eat out every night - even though we'd been 'upgraded to half board' as part of the move. Breakfasts were processed meats, bacon loaf rashers, smoked mini frankfurters, tinned peaches, cardboardy cereals, a few chopped up dried oranges, boiled & fried eggs, processed ham, smoked cheese, dried 'croissants' & little sponge cakes or pastries, There was no means of toasting the dry breads - oh, and made up orange type drink (no fresh fruit juice). So for 10 days, just about all I could put up with was greek yoghurt with honey and the oats I could dig out to smother the peaches. There was no food on offer if you wanted to order lunches. The 'dinners' were no better than I've experienced for school dinners - after the first night we went and found other places to eat. On offer at various times was flabby pasta, savoury bag (?) rices, charred chops, cheesy nugget things, brussel sprouts, chicken sprinkled with 'curry powder, dried up beefburgers; . Oh, you could have salad items, but nothing could cover the taste of those other items. Shame as the cooking for the next door Lounge bar (10% discount), which was not too bad and a very friendly place btw, is from the same kitchen, so it clearly could have been better. This hotel is next to a useful and helpful travel/excursion company, and then a mini supermarket - lots of cretan gift products, with a few useful food items, but not sufficient to self cater. The distance to the nearest beach strip was about 300-400 m, downhill and via a bit of a scrabble on paths/steps cut into the cliff. None of them are great beaches - crammed in at the base of the cliff. Other beaches, further away, are just based around ranks of umbrellas on relatively thin strips of sand. My suggestions would be to find your way to one of the few rocky bits to sit on, and also to go to the Saradini fish restaurant in particular - the best feature of the area and a wonderful location. The Big Blue taverna is also not too bad for food. Obviously we'll not be back.…
My family and I visited the hotel at the end of august begining of september. There isn’t anything about the hotel I can say I liked. It is an average hotel. The room we stayed in was dark, with very few natural light and outdated furniture. The bathroom was very small with a rusty, old bathtub. The good part about the room was that it was clean. With regards to the food, it was good and fresh but there was little variety. At dinner there was no desert, except fruits. We enjoyed very much the beaches around the hotel, althoug they are small, they have fine sand and clear water.
