We had a very good holiday at this hotel resort. It has been beautifully designed and caters for people of all ages. There are a lot of food choices from Cretan to sushi and all the staff are friendly and helpful. Even while you are sitting by one of the pools a waiter will come by to see if you want a drink (try the homemade lemonade, it's very refreshing). You can enjoy a lazy holiday or choose one of the excursions if you want to find out more about Crete and it's fascinating history, or even hire a car if you want to drive yourself. The bedrooms are big and the beds are comfortable. We hope to return next year. Thoroughly recommended.

Just got back from a week at the Mtsis Laguna and we’ve had a really lovely relaxing stay. The food in the al cart (both breakfast and dinner) was fine. I agree with an earlier review that suggested more of an oils, balsamic selection as we like to have a bit of bread and oil before dinner and take our time, but appreciate this is just personal taste. Yes it’s not the warmest and just not the best we’ve ever had - but it was fine. We didn’t eat there for lunch. I booked in every restaurant for our evening meal. The gyros at the beach bar were lush! Really traditional Greek gyros - very tasty for a light lunch. We had a burger and chips one day that my boyfriend said was a bit greasy for him but again this is probably personal taste - I enjoyed! The best restaurants were the Italian, steak and pan Asians and I loved that you could order as much as you wanted as we got to try a bit of everything. The wine was also really good! Service in the al carre restaurants were great, food was great, would highly recommend! Our room was lovely and just off from the main pool which meant we could just pop out and secure a sunbed early on. Yes it’s annoying, but everyone does it and to be honest we saw most people using them all day. Beds in the room super comfy, pillows lovely - slight issues with our air con the first night but this was fixed immediately when we told reception. Wasn’t a massive fan of the bathroom - no reason in particular, just seemed a bit older than the rest of the room/ not as nice - but you are just showering and that’s it! The ground and hotel itself is beautiful! The main pool is heated which was honestly just absolutely lovely! So relaxing! Our last day we went in the quieter non heated pools and went down the slides (2 adults in their 30s lol) and we thought it was really fun and loved that you could choose what type of day you wanted (quiet, beach, poolside with music and entertainment). We liked the entertainment and music by the main pool. I found the drinks by the main pool not the best - the alcohol always seemed really cheap and not the nicest. The night time bars were amazing. The two waiters there were so friendly and helpful and remembered our drink preferences, despite the bars being so busy they always made sure no one was ever waiting for a drink. By the time I was nearly finished they were there ready to take our next order. I know how to pronounce their names but spelling is another issue but they know who they are. They were professional and really a credit to the Mtsis group and we wish them all the best for the future. The cocktails and drinks in the evening bar were really nice. Sometimes you forget that there are also some very skilled bar staff behind the scenes making theses drinks and they were as good as I’ve had in any London bar. Any drink you could ask for and all made very well! Couldn’t ask for more. I thought the sushi and champagne bar had a certain class to it and I really enjoyed our pre dinner sushi. However it does only open at 6:30pm so if like us you eat early, it maybe worth pushing your dinner reservations by 30mins so you could enjoy this a bit more. My boyfriend would have enjoyed a beer here but unfortunately it was wines and sparkling cocktails only - not a problem for me but he didn’t love it. We had a lovely welcome at the hotel with a cocktail and cool towel. The entertainment in the evening was good I thought. A nice variety of dancing, singing etc for the more adult evening bar. Again we enjoyed that the children’s entertainment in the evening was very far away from the evening bar so we never felt like there were loads of kids screaming and running around but it would be great if you had kids! We also had a lot of fun in the arcade one evening - lovely touch. We did the spinalonga boat excursion and hired a quad bike and both were really fun and helped to break up the days a bit! Would deffo recommend! As everyone has said. Book the al carts in advance. No the beach is not a luxury white sand beach but I can’t see how that’s anything to do with the hotel - if swimming in the sea is important to you this may not be the best choice. My husband and I travel extensively and have been on the lookout for the perfect resort that we can return to with our extended family. When we set foot in the Mitsi Laguna hotel and resort in Crete we were immediately impressed. A "bag boy" came straight up to take our suitcases out of our taxi and then we had an exceptional check in experience. We were transported in a golf cart/buggy to our room and we were extremely happy with the standard. It was spacious, with lovely decorations and every amenity you could want, including bathrobes and slippers The hotel grounds are beautiful with a number of interlinking pools. We had asked to be in a quiet part and our room number 727 was exceptionally quiet. It was like having a private swimming pool right down the stairs from our room with a large pool right there. We were extremely happy with the fresh fruits and salads and the huge variety of cooked meals as well as plentiful deserts. The main pool is very lively and fun but you can escape to the other pools where they're quieter. The children's area is excellent with a big water slide and all sorts of play equipment The staff were excellent - a few of them felt like friends by the time we left - and we really look forward to going back taking our children and grandchildren. When we were there Alex from the management department showed us around and was extremely helpful. If I could I would give it six stars! Cannot wait to go back!…

Stayed for 1 week as the hotel closed for the season. Despite their imminent closure, the staff were always friendly and their hospitality was consistent. It was observed that they were not only friendly with guests but team working was apparent and when inevitable accidents occurred when transporting dishes, for example, even the matre di come to support the cleaning up. Room - our room as a garden view bungalow and at the end of the season looked in need of deep cleaning such as grouting renewal in the bathroom. However, the room was spacious and had plenty of storage. We were lucky to have a pool just outside which was amazing first thing in the morning as I always had it to myself. Food - we were able to book all the restaurants in advance and enjoyed each one. I mentioned a food intolerance when booking the Asian restaurant and the hotel nutritionist oversaw my food choices with the waiter and chef to ensure that I was still able to dine there despite this. I was surprised when she then popped up at each booking to ensure that my food choices were appropriate. She appeared busy each evening and I would highly recommend this experience to anyone with a food allergy or intolerance. We enjoyed the main restaurant, however as we only ate here one evening but enjoyed our breakfast and lunch here. The food at the beach was lovely, however, I do not enjoy eating on my lap on my sun lounger and I feel that this is one area the hotel could improve with making a proper dining space on the beach. We did not feel that what resembles a burger-van set up was befitting to a 5* resort, despite the gyros being delicious. The pool side BBQ Sunday lunch time was delicious. Drinks - the cocktails in the all day bar were nicer than the pool bar. We enjoyed the wine choices and prosecco!!!!! Beach- The snorkelling is good but do take beach shoes to enter the sea. We considered that if there was perhaps a wooden jetty - this may allow ease of access to the sea and provide a launch area for water sports etc. We attempted to use the free 30 mins kayaking on 3 occasions - once my son was informed that none of the water sports were all inclusive - the second time I was informed that I had come too late in the day (3pm). The third time there was no one to take us to the water sports launch area. We then gave up and I felt disappointed with this service. I also felt that the response would likely have been different for the paid-for water sports. Activities - my son at 17 joined in some of these activities and was always encouraged by Georgia to join in the fun without any pressure. Entertainment - we enjoyed the evening entertainment at the all day bar. We attended the theatre a couple of times but found inadequate seating arrangements and entertainment only suitable for young children here. Overall - we enjoyed our stay at Mitsis Laguna and are likely to chose Mitsis again and possibly re-visit in future. …

Mitsis Laguna is one of my favourite places on the planet! My wife and I have just returned from our sixth visit having discovered it by chance on another holiday to Crete when our transit bus stopped to collect guests. It’s greatest attribute is it’s staff who are all fantastically friendly and incredibly professional. The food is excellent and although it can be difficult for those who have not built up guest points (there is a tiering system for return visitors via guest relations/friends club) to get multiple bookings in the 5 a la carte restaurants, everyone normally gets to eat in them at some point and if not, there is always access to the more than adequate main food hall, the sushi and champagne bar, the excellent hot and cold food at the beach bar or the pool cafe that makes hot sweet or savoury crepes with coffee or something stronger! The pools and rooms are clean and there are just about enough sun loungers to avoid having to fight. Congratulations to the manager and his fantastic team who have become friends and are too numerous to name. I plan to book my 7th visit very soon.…

the Hotel exceeded our expectations except for the buffet restaurant. the main building and ground were spacious and of a high standard. very nice Italian styled canal with bridges and at night the scene was inspiring. the main pool was large and partly heated. there was a unheated salt water pool which followed round the accommodation. the children's pool and water slides were partly heated. Nice children's play area. Our bedroom was spacious and styled very well. Huge bed. The main buffet restaurant was a great disappointment, not 5 star more like 2 star works canteen. poor quality ingredients badly prepared. the breakfast was OK but lunch and evening meals did not live up to 5 star The feature restaurants were of a very good standard and the service was great, the staff could not have been more helpful including the front of house managers who made sure the booked tables were available on time, very polite. the wine choice at these resultants was very acceptable. the only bad meal was at the steak house. Generally the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and polite. They need to upgrade their poor main restaurant to get a 5 star from me.…

Cannot fault our stay at the laguna from the welcome to depature everything was excelent, the room, the food, the drinks selection, cleaniness, helpful staff always available and do anything to help. The champaign bar, sushi and a la carte restaurants were excellent with a good selection of food. Comfortable spacious rooms with daily refill of drinks bar, clean towels and rooms cleaned and beds made daily, cannot fault the place or the staff well done will be back again soon

Easily the best holiday we’ve ever had. The resort was of a very high standard and every aspect of it was first class. The staff were superb and are a credit to the resort, always friendly and helpful. The facilities of the resort were great with plenty of pools and sun loungers. There was plenty of choice for food and drinks too and the complimentary mini bar in the room was great. The beach was 50 yards across the road and the beach bar also very good.. The surrounding area when you leave the resort is quite scruffy and run down but this isn’t a negative on the resort just an observation as you don’t need to leave the resort. A truly brilliant holiday and we’re already looking to return in 2024.

Me and my mother very much enjoyed this wonderful place, which is not only beautiful and cosy, but also very freindly and delicious. Everybody working here is just very nice and attentive. You wil always receive every possible information or support you need. Our big room was big, bright, clean and cosy! The only thing you cannot everywhere enter the see on the beach because of rocks and sometimes you need to walk a bit, but the water and the snorkling opportunities are absolutely perfect. We loved just everything and can HIGHLY RECCOMEND this great hotel. Especial thanks to Alexandros from the reception, who is a great and very supportive personality. Thanks!

It was a fantastic experience staying in this resort. Our family enjoyed the stay. Superb facilities and many choices of restaurants within the property itself. One needs to book in advance if you want to avail the 3 course dinner. Sushi and bar is a nice option also. We enjoyed the sea beach arrangement and the snacks, drinks facilities at the proximity itself. Would definitely recommend this resort to my friends.
