I spent 3 night at the hotel and it was a good choice - on budget and with free wifi and breakfast included. Not much to choose from foodwise at breakfast, but enough. Very firendly staff. Area (Omonoia Sq) is not the best for a solo traveler, especially late at night.

The hotel is in a dodgy area at night, even the taxi drivers will warn you. But during the day it's fine, lots and lots of people around and it's just 20 min walk from the Agora & Acropolis area. The staff was really nice, we arrived really late and left early but they were great. The rooms are clean,... More

Everything you need , cheap hotel , great staff , good breakfast , near some great Greek home cook restaurants and not pricey. 700meters walk to National Library where a great free walking tour starts , only 3-5 euro for an uber to the main sights on the hill , cheap laundry service and great clean rooms. Possibly could fix... More

I stayed at the Hotel Cosmopolit for four nights during a recent Athens visit. It is very inexpensive, in the range and amenities of a hostel. Since that was what I was looking for, this was fine by me. You can pay a bit more to get a private room or bunk with some new friends in one of the... More

The room was clean and air-conditioned, but tight for two people. It would have helped if there was a small fridge. The breakfast was very basic and there wasn't a lot of variety of foods. The staff were friendly and helpful, except for one person in the reception area, who indirectly asked for a tip as I was checking out.... More

More than you can ask for such a cheap price. The reception staff is among the best I have found in my many travels. I arrived knackered at 6 am and they managed to put me in a room, also really kind with any inquiry. The room was fresh (good-working air-con) and very clean. Some people have pointed out the... Service is good. Receptionists are friendly. Rooms are clean and beautiful. Only thing i don't like is small bathrooms but that is negotiable. Best thing is hotel is in the centre and you can go anywhere you want easily.. 2 min far from metro. All the beautiful places are easily accessible from this hotel as it is situated in omonia... Took the Metro from the airport and it was a breeze. The hotel is behind Hostos Center on the Syntagma stop. The girl at the desk was very helpful and had a room in the back which was very quiet. Although the breakfast was the same everyday, it was good enough to fill you up. The sights in Athens are... More

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
