In the best part of the city, with Plaka around the corner, these Aussies created the perfect home away from home for the playful travelers. Great amenities and friendly attitude make it the perfect base when exploring Athens. Loved, loved, loved it!

I travelled by myself to Athens and I've stayed there just for 2 nights, but the accommodations were great. The location was perfect! Just a 1 min walk to the Akropolis Station and to the Acropolis Museum. The surrounding were great for a person traveling alone. I shared a female room with 4 other really nice girls. It had a...

I have to say there is always something to write about the hotels, but in this case my review is 100% positive, great location, great staff, really helpful, huge studio, for a really low price. Around the studios there is plenty of night life, bars, restaurants. I don't see myself staying in a different place when I go back to...

I'm so glad i've stayed at the Studios! Very good memories! The location was absolutely perfect, next to the Acropolis and the metro station. Nice and clean rooms with their own bathroom and kitchen, very well equipped. Super friendly and fun staff. They did everything they could to help us organise our trip. This place has everything you need, fish cafe,...

Great experience staying at this hostel! Unreal location, right in the heart of the best of Athens. Stayed in the private room for 3 people, great facilities, very clean, small kitchen inside to cook meals, comfortable beds. 24 hour reception, all the members of the staff we met during our stay were all very friendly and helpful. Fish cafe, laundromat, sports bar...

This review is for the en-suite studios, not the hostel. Location: Just a few blocks from the Acropolis Museum and a few more from the Acropolis. The pedestrian streets surrounding the Acropolis end just half a block away, meaning there is little traffic on the narrow surrounding streets. The Acropoli metro stop is only 1-2 blocks away, with a number...

The title already says it all. Let's start with the rooms. At a first glance, they're nice, then you start looking closer and you notice the plastic wrap around the matress. It's ok, you read at the reception that they're there to protect you from "unwanted guests others might have left". Woah. Our beds were japanese-height. The other room had...

I went to this hotel together with some friends and we took two triple rooms. The location is fantastic... but it's also the only fantastic thing we had during our experience. It looks like the quality of the rooms totally depends on the building you are assigned to. While the main building in Makri and the farest one in Veikou...

Great hostel! The rooms were great as we're the facilities. We were able to put on a load of washing and head next door to karaoke in the sports bar. The food at the fish cafe was so good. The staff were helpful and George's walking tour is great value. Highly recommend.

Location, location, location. The Athens Studios is within walking distance to the Acropolis, Agora, other ruins, as well as good restaurants and stores. The people in Greece are so friendly, helpful and proud of their heritage. We ate at the restaurant right at the Athens Studios. Great hamburgers! We walked a couple of blocks over to a pedestrian way and...

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
