We arrived on a day when the tiny lift had just been repaired. We were told it was operational and I got in with 2 cases - the door shut and it didn't move- nor did the door open again. There was no emergency button and no phone so I just screamed until someone opened it from the outside. We... More

Dear Diane, We've very sorry to hear about your experience, we always want our guests to feel safe and comfortable staying here. We wish the elevator doors hadn't malfunctioned at that time, however we have no control over unexpected circumstances like this. There is a panic button inside the lift which is located on the top of the floor numbers... More

The value for money and location of these apartments make them the ideal place to stay in Athens. We could walk to all the major attractions (10 minutes to The Acropolis) and the area felt safe when we were out at night. An added bonus was the abundance of excellent restaurants close by.

We were 3 persons and stayed for 2 nights in a private room. Location is perfect, the room is nice and clean, informative and helpful staff. The hostel includes useful services such as a laundry service and a storage room. However, the breakfast is very small and unsatisfying.

Room was just as depicted - actually even better as it had a huge porch. Service good with friendly staff in the reception. Location of the apartments was perfect for sightseeing as it's smack in the middle. Also located near good restaurants.

Having stayed in many Athens places we thought that, on balance, and accounting for the price that this was a great place to stay. Comfortable without being lavish, friendly and with an outstanding location behind the Acropolis Museum, this was great. We will certainly stay again.

Loved Athens studios! Run by Aussies, Great location and close walking distance to Plaka area and Acropolis etc the wifi is not that great but the hostel has great amenities attached like bar, restaurant, and laundry ! The bar at night is fun and Alex makes the best Greek iced coffees !

This place is really cool. Great large rooms and the breakfast was really nice. Good that there was a restaurant and sportsbar attached. Awesome location five minute walk from the acropolis and half an hour walk from some really nice and cheap restaurant strips. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed here at the start and end of our trip, and really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were really helpful, and the room was great. The highlight is the rooftop bar of he sister Athens Backpackers hostel, where you can sip beer whilst watching the sunset behind the Acropolis. Stunning!

This place was great. AMAZING LOCATION! Right next to everything! There are 2 locations, not far from each other, so make sure you know which you are staying at. My only issue was that the Wifi was poor in the room. Kept cutting out and had speed issues when connected.

These studios are great for solo travelers! I stayed in an all female 6 bed room, which had storage lockers and a little closet area to hang any clothing. The hotel offers a free shot of ouzo next door and a discount at the cafe as well! The free breakfast next door was nice and I highly appreciated the free... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
