Stayed at the AVA hotel for 3 nights back in February. Location was great for visiting the Acropolis etc and the Plaka district all within short walking distance. Hotel was clean, modern, small. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms well designed - we had a kitchenette assume other rooms were similar. Would definitely stay here again

The hotel is lovely, quiet and comfortable. The rooms spacious, the bed and other furnishings comfortable. The staff was uniformly welcoming and helpful. Easy walking to many good restaurants and of course some the of most important sites: the Acropolis, the Museum, Ancient Agora and so son.

This hotel is within walking distance to all major points of interest- a major plus for us. The staff is friendly and helpful-they even had a luggage scale for us to use! We were welcomed with complimentary champagne to celebrate our anniversary, which I thought was a nice gesture. The rooms were a nice size and bathroom shower had great...

Location, Location, Location - this small hotel is situated between Hadrian's Arch and the Acropolis and within the Plaka shopping district making it an ideal spot from which to launch your adventure of Athens. Our standard room was small but clean. Breakfast was good and they served us early at 7:00 AM so that we could get to the Acropolis...

We very much enjoyed our stay at AVA Athens. We had the large suite with the amazing view of the Parthenon. Their promo picture was accurate- it it really that close. Location was terrific as you can walk to so many attractions. Breakfast was a fabulous spread with just about anything you wanted. People were friendly and helpful!

At the end of our anniversary cruise, we arrived in Athens on a Saturday morning and taxied to this gem. It is within easy walking distance of the Parthenon and other ancient sites. The room was really a full suite with large bedroom, living room with comfortable chair and couch, and a kitchenette. Awaiting us was a chilled half bottleneck...

Ava Hotel was perfect for our 3 week stay in Athens. The location is right in the heart of Plaka with everything in close proximity. We stayed in a regular suite, which is a spacious room with a kitchen area. The bed was a king size and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean with a great shower. We never had...

The small hotel is newly refurbished and remodeled and the staff very friendly. The hotel offers appartment style rooms or normal hotel rooms all with a kitchenette. The location is very convenient in the old part of town snd the view to the Acropolis great.

My husband and two college-aged kids stayed in the Exclusive Suite for two nights. It was our first trip to Athens and we could not have been happier. We walked all over Planka ~ all the sites to see are within walking distance. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was sparkling clean. The kitchenette did not...

Spent a long weekend in this great little hotel. The staff was super friendly, the room was great and renovated, with a cute balcony offering views of Adrian's gate. The location is perfect, in the heart of the Plaka, which means walking distance to all the main attractions. Super recommended!

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
