We stayed at the hotel Rio Athens in June 2008. This hotel is absolutely the best choice in Athens. Clean and near the city attractions. Just few steps away to the subway, (metro station METAXOURGHIO). The staff was polite and made us feel at home and a great assistance for touring Athens. Buffet Breakfast was delicious. We surely recommend this...

It begins with a rude receptionist with terrible phone manners who is impatient and hangs up on you. Location is dull with boozy characters outside in daytime. Takes half hour by taxi from Sintagma - much too long. Staff is awful. Service is awful. Friendliness does not exist. Ugly lobby. Terrible rooms. You can do better at the Sintagma hotels....

We booked through Expedia for 10 days. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. I would call this a "Rick Steves" type of hotel. Small and clean, close to the metro and close to a hotel where tours were picked up and a good value. It had a small refrigerator for pop and things. We only had...

We booked the hotel Rio when we goit overbooked by the City Plaza, and through the website we thought it would be a good option. The hotel is lovely family run business in a 'not so great part' of athens BUT only 3 stops on the metro til the centre of everything and the Acroplis (around 5 minutes), the front...

I read the reviews on tripadvisor before booking my trip here. Most of them were positive, so I thought it would be an OK place to stay. The only thing I can say after staying at this place is, "Never go here." The room was dingy, small, and uncomfortable. The moment I was shown my room, I wanted to leave....

Hotel Rio is a moderately priced small hotel in north central Athens. Convenient to the subway, one can easily get to most attractions. Rooms are pretty small, but adequate. The nice thing is that the "street" is really a court, with no cars on it. Thus, it is quieter than other hotels in the city. Ms. Seda, Nikos, Alexandra and...

It's first time to review. Though I am poor at writing English, I have to write a review about this hotel. I stayed here at May last year. First floor one day and Third floor the other day. First floor is too noisy to sleep because bar, roby and other rooms' sound. Third floor' room is apart from restroom and...

right around the corner from the metro ,behind the hotel Stanley the family owned hotel has many advantages over the chains. i think we would call it a boutique hotel. Thomas the evening receptionist from Albania knew his city intimately and his guest type even better, but all the staff purveyed that sense of genuine assistance that will simply never...

We stayed at the Rio Athens for 4 nights in late Sept. 2006. We wanted a small, family-owned hotel, clean, and convenient to historic sites and public transportation. We got exactly what we were looking for and were delighted with the room and service. The neighborhood is downtown and we felt we belonged to a neighborhood by the time we...

The Hotel Rio was offered to us as alternative accommodation when our "confirmed reservation" at the Residence Georgio was cancelled without warning. Hotels in Athens were all booked up for the weekend - so it was the Rio or nothing! Welcome to the wonderful world of Athens hoteliery... The hotel is pretty basic - it is in a pedestrianised street,...
